Holy fuck is it 4pm already? What happend to Sunday o.o

Welp the sooner we get to tonight the sooner I get to push the next big Mumithings!

Because people want their power levelz and insist that Sabrina must be able to do it, because otherwise her wish wasn't granted.
Wanting to extend our range to the entire planet to do everything ourselves sounds more like "power levelz" than wanting to distribute something that people can use to take care of themselves.

Mami can operate her ribbons at range. We don't have to have direct connections to every Meguca; instead, we could simply cover the earth's surface with ribbons in a 50m mesh.
Mami's awesome and all, but we don't know if she can extend her ribbons around the entire planet. And even if she can, what about meguca in airplanes or on the tops of tall buildings? Are we going to cover the oceans in ribbons? What about when solid objects--like buildings--get in the way of the grid? Not to mention that we would essentially be spying on everyone everywhere with our grief senses, so privacy would no longer exist.

Finding out if Mami's ribbons can extend our range is worth trying out, but being able to distribute something like grief cubes would be preferable for cleansing purposes.

I dunno, being locked on the Golden Throne together wouldn't be so bad, if we did it after we stopped Walpurgisnacht, and could still have our friends come over?
Even if it meant never being able to take Mami out anywhere? Never being able to go anywhere new? Never going flying together again? Having to drop out of school? Never getting to have a job? We want to give Mami the chance to have a life, not turn herself into a magical McGuffin.

Since we didn't get to do it this morning due to the slumber party, we should have a grief Maid!Brina make Mami breakfast in bed tomorrow while we continue the snuggling.

Counterpoint: make a cloaking device and sneak into school with her!

I'm... Not actually suggesting that. Also, reminder that Mami still has schoolwork to finish!

Responding to "Muh powerlevels" with "but isn't that more biggatons" demonstrates exactly the failure mode that Godwinson is complaining about. We're operating on narrativium here and the normal rules are useless. Think Discworld. Economics and replication and logistics and so on still work, but they tend to give way to give way to things that have narrative weight associated with them, and in the cases where they work it's often because they acquire their own Narrative. Running everything on mathematics no longer works out the way you'd expect it to and trying to make everything a contest about what's bigger just ends with an ironically appropriate life lesson. In canon, how else would the balance of hope and despair even work? What is Potential? In the Wraith Arc, the universe is physically instantiating monsters that feed on emotions in an effort to reestablish its narrative, and Homura and Madoka are fighting it with the power of love. PMAS is the same universe. One where Madoka tweaked the balance, where she convinced the universe to tell a different story, but still a universe where there is a Story.

Instead... remember how we were theorizing that Tiro Finale is to effective because it is, symbolically, a Gun That Kills Witches? It's the same kind of thing here: We want to tell a story. What will work is standing on top of a tall tower in Mitakihara, ideally one with a nice romantic pink evening sky as a backdrop and just enough of a breeze that Sabrina can ham it up but mysteriously leave Mami's drills unruffled, before linking hands with Mami, smiling, and erupting into enough a fountain of golden ribbons that transforms the world. That has a story behind it. It's a powerful story, one powerful enough to overcome all of the dry, boring number-crunching that reality usually operates on. Seriously, Discworld.

We clearly do not have infinite multitasking, that meme needs to die in a fire.
We don't have infinite multitasking at a conscious level, but when working with grief we do have effectively infinite resolution and precision. I think that that optical cantilever array I proposed would've had within a couple OOM as many individual cantilever objects as there are humans on Earth, as a concrete example. Milling our cloud down into optically-transparent particles probably would've yielded even more detail. I suspect that it's important to note that both of those were coherent, logical wholes, that we were controlling as a single unit to a single end. As such, I think that this capability would transfer to simultaneously cleansing the entire planet. We'd have to specifically concentrate on it, but once we're doing that we should be able to turn the whole of our ribbon-augmented Grief control radius to the single end of cleansing every Meguca alive.

Mami's ribbons, when invisible, are also intangible.
METAPHORICAL BRAIN RIBBONS!

I guess the limit would be Mami's ability to multitask. I still think we should work on Post-grief societal problems after we secure Mitakihara against WPN and Feathers. If we're worried about our friends running out of magic while we're busy fighting an uber-witch, we could just duct-tape a clear seed to their gems. I seriously doubt either boss fight is going to use a century of grief.

In the mean time, we max out our social links with Mami, Homura, Madoka, Sayaka, Kyouko and Yuma, and O&K, in that order of priority. We keep researching biggaton weapons for us and our friends, of which the next step's safety regulations may involve taking a trip to the moon. And finally, we work on building a strong social web that's self maintaining and inclusive.

Basically, we need to forge a Magical Girl Center Culture, one that will by it's own nature eat and absorb the other cultures around it, and one that will facilitate the later construction of a magical state. We must become the Magical Rome. And then all roads shall lead to us.

The other thing people are ignoring is that "lol muh cleansing" isn't the only reason we're proposing grief-channeling with Mami.

Beyond just "bypass our limit radius for great justice", establishing that Mami can channel magic to be greater than the sum of its parts of fucking awesome and makes the entire team even more godly, as well as establishing factually that Mami's powerset is "karmic fuckery."

Seriously what the fuck this is everything SV wants why is there an argument holy shit.

What probably happened with the enchanting failure is we tried to do it without involving our friends. We just walled ourselves off and tried to brute force our way through it without collaboration or assistance. Can we please stop doing that? Please? It never works.
Grief cleansing didn't work because our enchantment used grief which it was designed to store to begin with. The enchant fizzled out because the grief used to hold it together kept getting cleansed in a sense.

Have we done an enchantment without the use of grief? Just a natural/native enchantment like what Kirika did before?

Sabrina really has a great sense of timing when it comes to contacting pairs of magical girls, it seems.
Something something lesbian whisperer.

A distance enhancement would make that a non-issue. A power grid of sorts? We have infinite multitasking, it's the moving about that's the issue.
We don't even need to do the Mumi God-Empress/ribbon the world thing; after tomorrow we just rub Niko and Sakura together until warp gates happen.

I thought she did it before the picnic yesterday?
She postponed it, so she's got to do it tonight. I figure we can finally try making a Grief Control Enchantment while she's working... so we don't just cuddle uselessly like last time. :p

We should have. We even have had time sitting down without doing anything last time Mami was doing homework, but we didn't.

We've been waiting on it since Kirika gave us that hint.

[] What do you speak to the University girls about?
[] Anything to follow up on?
[] Do you ask about the Sendai Group?
[] Do you offer Clear Seeds?
From the dumbass perspective (which I can be at sometimes) are these vote options by themselves or guidelines for a vote?
And for the people debating about enchantments, can it be possible for us to wait for until we actually have time to decide about it (when we have free time in quest) and focus about what we should do right now? Because yeah I get the appeal of thinking ahead but, if you think ahead too much you lose sight of what's right in front of you. I'm not saying that we should just shelve it completely (in fact my opinion is before we shelve it completely we should try doing it without the grief gauntlet) but is right now the best time?

No, that's not it at all. If Sabrina can't do it Madoka's wish wasn't granted. :p

Look, I'm fine with plan ribbon grid *or* plan give everyone free rechargeable batteries that aren't souls (or, if we aren't worried about being witch-like, plan put the whole world in a barrier), for the medium term. But unless we're sure we're going to live forever we need something that doesn't need us in the long term.

That's not about power levels - that's about "our goals fundamentally have to be achievable somehow"

She'd need to be constantly linked to the network, constantly making new ribbons to link up to new Meguca so Sabrina could cleanse them.

You know, just like how the design of the power grid requires all electrical generation to be at a single fixed central location.

They all have their own lives! When you contact someone, you don't expect them to just drop everything on your say so.
Because people want their power levelz and insist that Sabrina must be able to do it, because otherwise her wish wasn't granted. Or because of people who seem to want to embody the very notion that "perfect is the enemy of good".

We clearly do not have infinite multitasking, that meme needs to die in a fire.
Be nice. You can argue without caricaturing your opponent.

Sabrina doesn't have infinite multitasking, but she has very very very good multitasking.

I believe the goal still remains that we're searching for a way to cleanse soul gems that isn't dependent on grief seeds and isn't dependent on Sabrina AND can last indefinitely. Well after Sabrina's time.

It doesn't really have anything to do with power levels. Grief manipulation just happens to be the most accessible thing we have on short notice.
