OH YEA I SHOULD ALSO CLARIFY THAT KANNA HIJIRI'S POWERSET WAS USED TO MAKE JUBEY.
As in, a sentient, autonomous, loyal being that's essentially a goddamn familiar that lives as long as his creators do regardless of distance. Add Sabrina's magic and Jubey will be able to ACTUALLY CLEANSE like he was meant to.
so we'd be able to get the Mass Cleansing Network off the ground and just need to solve the Ontological Inertia problem.

But that's anti-make-Sayaka-feel-awesome-about-herself.

How?We're letting her copy significant parts of our power, which she wasn't able to do, so we're fixing that, and she'll gain the ability to cleanse and thus hold an additional power almost indefinitely, making her almost two meguca in one and one of those rotates out as appropriate to the situation.

Yes, but she'd be relying on a literal hand-out from us to do it, and yes that does matter emotionally.

I'm sceptical about the "store powers for later" enchantment idea, but if it does work, it'd handily sidestep that issue - she'd be making herself more useful though her own efforts and abilities.

Giving her a Ring of Grief Control is not Sayaka copying us.

On the matter of making Sayaka feel better about herself, it's the opposite, since it's just handing her things, instead of herself getting those things with her own effort.

Anyway, she already has infinite magic with the Clean Seed; she just needs to powerscience her magic to create a way to carry many powers or something.

But she has to do it herself. With help, fine, but she has to work for it.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

It's something I want to give to others in general anyway. It's a handout, but one we're giving to as many as possible on principle rather than a specific handout to compensate for her own inadequacies. How is giving her anything else to help any less of a handout?

"Yea, I know you sold your soul for the power to use other people's magic, but it's not enough to copy mine, the best power. But it's okay, I can just casually give literally everyone and anyone a copy of my powerset through a mere trinket. That's what your soul is worth."

Perhaps the first step to making Sayaka start feeling less useless is to munchkin her power to the greatest extent possible.

It'll also, you know, make her not fucking... she's pretty unspectacular as-is.

The immediate problem of course is that she basically enters a fight power-less and has to fucking touch somebody to copy. Which, like, that's actually just terrible.

So we need a way to store at least one power. Powers have an upkeep.

We could tape a clear seed to her gem. That is, uh, not a great plan.

What we really want is some kind of vessel. Homura's magic is timestop; perhaps she could create some type of stasis effect. But more likely, I think, Sayaka's magic being power copying she should be able to enchant a vessel for a power herself.

Next, what one power would be best? Teleportation. Need to copy somebody? Teleport into range. Feel like having timestop utility in another city for a little while? Timestop, have Sayaka teleport Homu to place in question, do timestop things, teleport back. Need to cut down on the logistics of running a minor empire? Cough teleportation cough. Want Sayaka to feel useful? Make her fucking useful. Sakura sure as hell won't cooperate with us, but we should be able to bribe her for copies of her power.

Thoughts? Have her do proof of concept enchant with grief enhancer.

Examine whether she can copy enchants as powers?
For all that Sayaka seems limited right now, I think that, in the long run, she'll have the highest growth rate. Assuming it isn't impossible for MGs to learn other powers besides the ones they start with (which, if enchantment is any indication, is a safe assumption), then Sayaka will have a huge advantage for learning other powers/abilities.

Which means that, even if it never becomes as instinctively easy as it is for Mami, generating ribbons could be something Sayaka could learn how to do without actively copying Mami's powers.

---

That said, Sayaka's ability is one best used alongside allies. Her touch-based limitation isn't really significant then, since she can easily just touch an ally and copy her power before a fight. While her capability won't be as good as the original's (at least, not without lots of practice with it), it will still be a useful supplement. Imagine Sayaka on the same team as Kirika--an effective anti-MG and anti-Witch combination.

Additionally, Kyouko shows us that you don't need to have a unique powerset to be highly formidable. Sayaka has her swords, and her sword blades can be shot out like a gun, and possibly other things as well (like segmented "sword-whips", kind of like Kyouko does with her spears). She should be able to make giant swords, too, which ups her "sword guns" into "sword cannons". Don't remember whether or not the blade projectiles can be made to explode, though.

(Also, the whole "magic upkeep" for keeping a copied power is less of a limitation if we give Sayaka a Clear Seed or two, though she shouldn't sleep or go to school with a power held, obviously.)

Well it was actually Nico Kanna's powerset that made Juubey, but considering how Kanna Hijiri was her original name, it's technically true. But yeah, Kanna Hijiri's bullshit powerset from being linked the Pleiades has a lot of potential.

So, in Mitakihara, who have we not checked on recently?

[X] Go visit Warehouse-Kun on the way home.

In the near term, she could also copy Yuma and head for a hospital.

But yeah, we're bringing her along tomorrow, right? Her copying Sakura when we get there could shave a lot of travel time off our schedule.

We already have 2.5 seeds worth of grief floating around. Each producing hundreds of basketball sized grief orbs. We'd be adding 2 more seeds worth. I can't see that not causing a public incident at this point.

Just condense it through Grief Transmutation if it becomes an issue. If we do that we can make it arbitrarily dense.

Also, if we're gonna keep a constantly witchy group of grief in the house, might as well make it a chibi maid and go all-in on the silliness. :V

[x] Contact Homura. Tell her you're done with your conversation. Thank her again for generally keeping an eye on things, especially in this weather.
-[x] Ask Mami if she'd be alright with inviting Homura over. If (and only if) she is, extend Homura the invitation.

[x] Go home. Clear up whatever's left to clean up. Just relax a bit. Give both Mami and Homura Clear Seeds, just in case you ever aren't available for whatever reason. Make note of the actual, precise capacity of a Clear Seed.
-[x] Discuss the implications of using Clear Seeds as bargaining chips during negotiations. It could be a very disruptive influence, if handled poorly.

--[x] Help Mami with her schoolwork. If the opportunity comes up, do some enchantment practice - try simple enchantments that fit your "theme", and work your way up from there.
I think that this isn't quite what we need.
  • We've also been neglecting Madoka, and we need to fix that.
  • Homura is still in "protect the doka" mode, and will likely refuse to leave Oriko's house unless we can convince her that Madoka will be safe.
Thankfully, we can kill two birds with one stone:

[x] Telepathy Madoka. Tell her that we've had a pretty stressful afternoon and ask if we (and Mami, and maybe Homura) can drop by to hang out.
[x] If yes, telepathy Homura and get her to come too. If necessary, apply arguments:
-[x] Oriko and Kirika aren't doing anything right now.
-[x] If they do try anything, they're significantly lower on resources and infinite timestop is OP.
-[x] Madoka will be just as safe with Homura watching her directly as she will with Homura watching Oriko and Kirika.

(bonus points there if we get Homura to admit that she's protecting more than just Madoka?)

-[x] If she still resists, ask for a timestop so we can explain the details of what just went down with Oriko.
[x] If we acquire Homu, head for Madoka's place.
-[x] Fill time by asking Yuma to dish KyouSaya details.
--[x] Tell her that her favorite word is more appropriate in this situation than in any other.

If you're going to do that, you might as well make the enchantment booster and enchant our bag to suppress grief. Maybe tell Mami the problem too. She might be able to make something to help us out.

You should probably throw in telling Homura that Oriko has lost her precognition--something we verified for ourselves. While she might one day regain it, it would definitely not be in the near future and would almost certainly be a gradual process.

If nothing else, it will put Homura at a bit more ease, knowing that Oriko can't really make any "perfect" schemes since she basically doesn't know anything about what's going on outside of her home.

I think we'd want to keep this to just Sabrina? Should we include Homura? Don't want to include Mami, Kyouko is a sore point.

You're dodging the question. How is helping Sayaka in literally any way at all somehow not a handout? How is giving Sayaka the ability to cleanse at absolutely any time without limit more of a danger to her emotional issues than leaving her alone? How is Sayaka's esteem more important than ensuring the safe, renewable, grief seedless (clear or otherwise) cleansing of magical girls worldwide? How is it possible for there to be a method to keep Sayaka safe without giving her anything that can be construed as a handout and how is the latter more important than the former? How is deliberately refusing to improve the lives of meguca worldwide, making Sayaka more ikely to get herself killed in order to avoid directly insinuating that Sayaka needs help, and only indirectly doing it to result in far more damage, a good idea? How is deliberately forcing others to stay dependent on us to survive when we could give the some freedom and agency, and thereby effectively enslaving them, a good idea?
