There's no rule against Homura showing up or us setting up bleachers and selling tickets.
Well...

"Come and watch! We've got some real Magical Girls duking it out! Watch for the lowly price of one non perishable food item, which will go to homeless Magical Girls! We do not accept responsibility for any accidents, injuries, or deaths ocurring due to collateral damage! Come quickly and watch the Magical Girls!"

Was under the impression Koko didnt want to see Mami in the process. Was wrong?

Kyoko at no point in time expressly stated that the sessions should be private - she certainly didn't make the session "contingent" on it, and claiming that is factually incorrect.

Regarding the privacy construct, given your comment that we should start talking about positive things with it up... How is this not a positive thing? We're telling her that we're trying to get her her old friend back, and we specifically know it's possible. How is that a negative??? And given that the vote launches straight to that after building privacy construct, where's the time for her to get apprehensive?

You complain about this being made into a big deal, but we're literally chatting about it while walking home.

These two things are mutually exclusive - if we make a privacy construct, definitionally, we are making a big deal out of it. Think about it this way: So far, in front of Mami, we've used privacy constructs on Oriko's predictions, the Metabomb, and Walpurgisnacht. We don't use them casually, and if we want to maintain a casual air, now is a terrible time to start.

And lastly, I don't think Mami has seen or heard of Yuma in her entire life.

Mami has heard of Yuma - we've mentioned that Kyoko is taking care of a super young meguca, and we mentioned running into Yuma before we ever told Mami we'd made contact with Kyoko.

Moreover, the actual assistance that Yuma has provided to Kyokos psyche here and now is far more important than the interactions between Sayaka and Kyoko in the canon timeline, which are almost entirely based on events we've put a massive effort into averting.

Maintaining my vote.

I really don't know about the friends again thing. Maybe start slower to ease Mami in.

Lead with looking for training partners for Sayaka and then transition into reconciling with Kyouko and what she's been up to and all that, instead of throwing all of that out of nowhere right at the beginning.
Should also flow better from the previous conversation.

Actually, that sounds good to me.

[X] Head home. On the way there:
-[X] Tell Mami you're glad Sayaka's got past her first impression with Homura. Homura's reactions are kind of funny, too.
-[X] Tell Mami you've asked Kyouko to help train Sayaka. If it's OK with Mami, Kyouko will hop over to Mitakihara to meet Sayaka every once in a while. Is she OK with that?
--[X] Apologize for not telling her earlier. You think (hint hint) Sayaka and Kyouko will be good for each other... in the long run.

I disagree with that on the basis that talking about that without covering the other stuff just causes Mami undue and pointless pain. My first draft did exactly what you're describing, and then I swapped it around because why start from the other end? I agree, it absolutely flows better the other way. But it works better like this.

It fits with our talking about things related to metaknowledge. We told her that we were specifically using privacy construct to protect that, I don't see how this isn't thematic with that. And yes, this is a big deal, it's just not a negative one.

Kyoko at no point in time expressly stated that the sessions should be private - she certainly didn't make the session "contingent" on it, and claiming that is factually incorrect.

This is called "tact." We don't say what "private" means. It could be private to us kyoko sayaka, or homu etc... But it's implied that it's private from Mami. And I think Kyoko absolutely implied she wouldn't do it if Mami was going to be there the whole time. And even if Kyoko didn't, I think we should, unless we think that putting Kyoko and Mami in a space together for an extended period of time is a good idea as-is (it could be, yes, But that would need more thinking). But, I'd rather not say "Kyoko doesn't want to see/talk to you" to Mami. Because no.

I'm usually not good at tact, I tend to replicate its effects by being really, really forward and exceedingly bashful about doing that. But man, even I can see that there'd be a problem here.

I'd be okay with that vote, @Onmur .

K.I.S.S. and all that.

Same problem, why do this and make Mami sad when we could do the other thing and make her happy.

If Mami has heard of Yuma I have nothing against talking about Yuma's effects on Kyoko.

But, I'd rather not say "Kyoko doesn't want to see/talk to you" to Mami. Because no.

Then why are you saying exactly that?

Kyoko didn't say she doesn't want to talk to Mami, but you're planning on saying that she made not talking to Mami a precondition to accept the training!

E: A better approach would be to be supportive, and make it clear to Mami that she doesn't have to attend the session if doing so would hurt her - we can fill in, or Homura can.

E2:
If Mami has heard of Yuma I have nothing against talking about Yuma's effects on Kyoko.

She has, and I'd prefer to talk about Yuma then on quite possibly inaccurate readings from a potential future.

-[X] I think that really went well with Homura and Sayaka. Sayaka is really starting to get past her first conclusions about her... It's nice.
-[x] Privacy construct, necklace or bracelet or something.
-[x] Warm/positive tone, this isn't a bomb and it's not going to make Mami unhappy. I'm trying to get Kyoko to be friends with you again. I don't want to replace myself with her or anything, it's just that with things as they are, her name makes you sad, and a sad Mami isn't a happy Mami. Also... She's been in a bad place for a while, now. Mentally, I mean. Spending time taking care of Yuma has done her a lot of good, but... So, It would help her. Although, to be honest, I don't know how being friends with you wouldn't help someone. You're amazing like that.
--[x] Anyway, I know it's possible (tap the side of your head). I just... Don't know exactly how.
--[x] Pause for a bit. Elaborate on things if requested.
--[x] But anyway, I talked to Kyouko, and it took some finagling, but I got her to agree to help Sayaka train her melee skills. If you aren't comfortable with that, then I'm sure we can find somebody else, but... It should help both of them? I don't know for sure that it'll work, but I know Kyoko can get a lot better after meeting Sayaka.
[x] Break to voting if there's reason for it. Else, go home and do some more baking/cooking for the picnic, and have lunch.

OK, to simplyfy things, how's this?

[ ] Home.
-[ ] Sayaka spooks Homu.
-[ ] Nobody must hear: Koko and Mumi be friends. Koko has daughteru nao. So Koko train Saya.
--[ ] We jibe?
-[ ] Tell Mumi you like her and kiss her on the cheek.
--[ ] Wait is that Homu with a camera.
--[ ] Nooooooooo

Could vote for. Much of the wordiness on mah vote is just fluff, so if somebody cut that and people liked it I'd be gud with that. 's a side effect of how I think about these things, anything I make has fluff in it.

(Actually, we can just make the Grief enchanter thing, make the privacy thing with an on/off toggle and keep it. It shouldn't ping anyone's radar made that way. It just can't exit our range.)

Intelligence.

Not making a privacy construct before this conversation is a hill I'm willing to die on (...metaphorically). It's a bad idea, and I won't vote for anything that inclues it.

Then perish on your hill of swords, Emiya Shirou! For this Catgirl knows True Dog when it is seen, and talking metaknowledge without a privacy construct is True Dog.

1 - not drawing attention to it reduces its impact.
2 - same as 1
3 - wording/meaning change from "she will do so" to "she would do so."

... I like fluff but the cutdown is probably a good idea... Oh I got it.

I still want to murder the word "Reconcile" for some reason and replace it with like Nanohatalk but eh that's probably personal bias

I'll take being friendly, reliable, and man's best friend as a complement. :V

In any case, if we don't make the construct, we don't go full meta. It's not difficult at all - there's, like, two lines that lean on metaknowledge, and frankly, they're of dubious utility.

you know they can be friends again.

Do we? Name a timeline where Mami and Kyouko reconciled and Sayaka didn't die. We think that it's doable based off our read on their characters and insight into their history, but it's still just a supposition.

you know Kyouko and Sayaka would be good for each other, so...

Refer to the Homuquote.

"They don't always get along."

Sayaka and Kyouko can file off the edges of each other's worldviews... or they can clash horribly and just hurt each other more. Like what happened in canon, actually. We'll try and set it up so it works out, but it's again not a certainty.

TL;DR: There are things we know, like Mami's parents dieing in a car accident. How people will react in situations unlike any of the timelines we've seen isn't one of those things.

[Q] Tell Mami that if she makes a pink Tiro Finale and shoots Koko, they can be friends.

Timeline where Mami goes Tetris. The whole group was together there, thanks to the power of Moemura.

Name a timeline where Mami and Kyouko reconciled and Sayaka didn't die.

I'm tempted to be pedantic and claim that the Tetris timeline technically doesn't meet this criteria. :V

That said, it's a fair point... I wonder what Homura's secret there was? When we asked how to get them to work together she said it usually took Sayaka's death...

...wait. Was she just throwing the Blueberry under the bus there? Rude. :V

In the previous update:
"You're too stationary," Homura continues, as if she hadn't been interrupted. You barely note her hand's movement before she flickers, and-

The air shatters under the sound of a half dozen shots cleaving through the air, bracketing Sayaka. They hammer past her, bullets crashing into the car behind her.

The bleunette's eyes go wide and shocked.

"If you don't keep moving, it becomes easy to set up attacks," Homura continues, raising her hand to her hair. She hooks her fingers through the lustrous black strands, sending them flowing outwards like a midnight dark waterfall with a single, effortless flick of her hand that draws the eye to the silky-

You wrench your gaze away, sidling over to Mami instead. Madokami damn Homura's hair. Then again, Madokami would probably be the last goddess to damn Homura's hair.

Sayaka makes a strangled noise.

Mami frowns, shaking her head. "That was too harsh, Homura," she says. She softens as you bump against her side, leaning her shoulder against yours.

Homura shrugs. "Lessons tend to be," she says.

Sayaka rolls her eyes. "I get it. Really I do. You could have just told me, Homura." She glances at her shield, shaking it thoughtfully.
Homura harshly OP points +1.

In this update:
Levering yourself to your feet, you eye the molten puddle, red-hot and shimmering with residual heat. It clinks faintly as the extremities start to cool.

"So... yeah," you say, gesturing lamely at the former car. "That's Prima Luce. First Light."

Sayaka winces, rubbing her nose. "Holy crap, Sabrina," she says.

You huff an amused sigh. "The reason I wanted to show you is that, well, those Grief shields and stuff I used weren't just there for show," you say. "It's not a magic laser, it's a real one. Atmospheric diffraction and specular reflections are actually issues, and it can blind. If I ever have to use this in combat, well, yeah. I just wanted you guys to know just in case that happens, you know?"

"Holy crap, Sabrina," Sayaka repeats, shaking her head. "What are you planning on using this on, a tank?"
Sabrina unnecessarily OP points +1.

Who wants to bet Sayaka's gonna sneak out to try that exploding sword trick?

I went looking for the quote where Homura said the key to Mami/Kyoko friendship was to grease the wheels with crushed blueberry, and although I didn't find it yet, I did find this:

Homura: "It's astounding. Time is fleeting. Madness takes it's toll. But listen closely..."
Sabrina: "Not for very much longer!"
Homura: "I've got you in control! I remember doing the Witch Bomb! Drinking of Despair! But then she shot at me, and then Mami would be calling!"

"Let's do the Witch Bomb again!"

"Let's do the Witch Bomb again!"

Professor Tomoe (AKA Scary Glasses): "It's just a jump to the left!"
Everybody: "And then a step to the ri-i-i-ight!"
Prof. Tomoe: "Put your hands on your hips!"
Everybody: "And bring your knees in tight! But it's the pelvic thru-ust that really drives you insa-a-a-ane!"

"Let's do the Witch Bomb again!"

"Let's do the Witch Bomb again!"

Sabrina: "It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me, so no one can see me, no not at all! In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention, well secluded, I see all! ... I swear I'm totally not a witch guys!"
Homura: "With a bit of a tongue slip!"
Sabrina: "And you're dodging the mind flip!"
Homura: "And nothing will ever be the same!"
Sabrina: "You'll feel desperation!"
Homura: "Like you need medication!"

"Let's do the Witch Bomb again!"

"Let's do the Witch Bomb again!"

Prof. Tomoe: "It's just a jump to the left!"

Prof. Tomoe: "Put your hands on your hips!"
Everybody: "And bring your knees in tight! But it's the pelvic thru-ust that really drives you insa-a-a-ane!"

Kirika: "Well, I was walking down the street just having a think, when this snake of a cabbit gave me this evil wink. Well it shook me up, it took me by surprise, he said I'd done fucked up and frankly I'd rather die. He stared at me, and I felt a change, Despair meant nothing, never would again!"

Kyoko: "But isn't that just the Time Warp from Rocky Horror with a couple of lines switched out? Look, it even uses the same moves!"
Sayaka: "And how on Earth would little miss street rat possibly know that?"
Kyoko: "Priests daughter." *Beatific innocence prana*
Sayaka: "Ugh. Objection withdrawn." *Muh heart prana*
Kyoko: "And wasn't that Professor Tomoe from Sailor Moon R?"
Akane: "Yeah, what was up with that?"
Oriko: "Get ye back to yer own quest!"
