[x] She's right, of course! If your attacks don't have fantastic names, why even bother? You might as well be one of those poor, sad people that don't name their attacks at all!
-[X] I just want to make sure that my attacks are worthy of the awesome names that you come up with. I dunno... is this really on par with something like Tiro Finale?
-[X] If she thinks that it absolutely is, accept "Luce Finale" as a name. If not, tell her you're going to save "Luce Finale" for something that is, and settle on "Luce Eterna" ("Eternal Light") for this one.
[X] Also, did I zone out at all while doing that? If so, how long? Zoning out in combat would probably be bad.
[X] If not, then this was way more successful than anticipated. Kind of makes the other stuff I had planned unnecessary.
[x] There was another thing... Maybe you should've asked back at the house. You'd been wondering about any old projects Mami might have had? With her ribbons?
-[x] You had a couple ideas, but, well, she's had a lot of time and she's really smart, so she's probably tried them already, but maybe you could come up with something together...
--[x] You don't mean to imply that she couldn't do it herself you just... you're babbling again, aren't you.
[x] Listen to Mami's ideas and apply suggestions. If she has things she wants to test, including combination attacks, cooperate with her.
-[x] If she doesn't have any ideas for right this minute, then ask about how she can gather information with her ribbons. You've seen her do things in the kitchen from another room. Does she think you could so something like that within your range?
[x] Telepathically contact Homura. Ask how she's doing and how last night went. Let her know that we're currently testing highly destructive attacks with Mami. She can come join us soon, or if she comes a little later, can be there for Sayaka's training session.

[x] "No, you're right. What I should do is make a bigger laser worthy of the name."

[x] Ask Mami what she thinks of german for attack names for you. Mami is elegant enough for Latin based languages, but you're rather more brutally utilitarian in your approach to combat.

[X] Of course it's alright, Mami. I asked you because I value your opinion. What you think is really important to me.
[X] And... it's really cool when you're all badass and confident like that.
[X] I just want to make sure that my attacks are worthy of the awesome names that you come up with. I dunno... is this really on par with something like Tiro Finale?

[X] If not, then this was way more successful than anticipated. Kind of makes the other stuff I had planned unnecessary.
[X] Were there any ideas that Mami wanted to try, or wanted us to try?
[X] If not, we have a couple ideas. Can Mami make the things she conjures with her ribbons magnetic?
-[X] If so, lay out some ideas she could use to make a summonable railgun or coilgun.
-[X] If not, can she create a projectile that will behave like metal around a magnet. If so, then we can make the gun while she makes the projectile.
[X] If none of that, it's okay. We have an idea for a tandem attack with Mami. A Tiro Duet if you will. Duet Finale? Is "duet" Italian?
-[X] We can make the gun, but any projectiles we make would be useless at long range. But Mami is great at making projectiles.
--[X] Try making an unloaded grief musket and see if Mami can load it with one of her magic "bullets" and then test-fire it. If it works, then maybe it's something that we can scale up to be even bigger than anything we can do individually.
[X] If none of the ideas pan out or appeal to her, that's fine. We still had one really big success today. We couldn't have done it without her.

[X] "Alright? That was awesome!" *bump shoulder* "Remember you're talking to the creator of MECHA GURREN ZILLA LAGANN here; I'd say we have exactly the same philosophy on naming stuff, even if you're far more elegant about it."
[X] Of course, she's absolutely right.
-[X] But we can't call this our Finale attack, it just doesn't match up. We were thinking something like 'Lux Aeterna'? Eternal Light, because we've managed to exceed our range in some way...
-[X] We've got more idea, though! We're sure we can come up with something worth of a Finale attack. And maybe... a dual attack?
-[X] Well anyway, we weren't expecting that to work, so we need a few minutes to re-think our plan.
-[X] Maybe we can help her, meanwhile? There must be some thing she wants to try, since she's really smart, and our Wish kind of was oriented to help with this sort of thing

The only reason I haven't shifted my vote over to Redshirt's is because I have concerns about that first line. It sounds really forced, to the point that I'm worried that Mami will think we're mocking her.

[Q] Try to remember what you did with those notes you took that one time you were experimenting with Warehouse-kun.
-[Q] If you don't have them, tell Mami you need to go to check on Warehouse-kun.
--[Q] Once at Warehouse-kun, find those notes.

Who knows? Maybe we write in Witch runes???

OKAY SO I CAN PROVIDE A SUMMARY OF WRAITH ARC CHAPTER 9.

Still can't give exact wording on stuff, I'm working off incomplete scans and someone else who read it who's Korean.

So it opens up with a flashback to Homura on a rooftop watching Wraiths, like at the end of EP12. Kyubey isn't there. She casually summons her Shield, and laments that she can't use it to turn back time anymore, she's tried. Since it has no value to her anymore, she drops it. As it hits the ground, however, it opens into a wormhole, and Homura jumps in to investigate.

Inside...is a strange road of strings, bound by the stakes associated with Wraiths/Clara Dolls. The stakes are binding the movement of this road, which is a huge creature.

It's Ultimate Kriemheld Gretchen, and Homura has a brief skirmish with it before she manages to retreat and close the wormhole. Homura flips the fuck out over HOW GODDAMN DANGEROUS that fucking is, and rewrites her memory to think she's unable to summon her shield ,and thus unable to do so.

Back in the present, Majuuka's last act is to hand Homura's ribbon, and thus her memories, back to her, and then dies. Homura can no longer regenerate or fight, and is totally fucked like at the end of EP11. She has a brief hallucination of Madoka helping her at the end like she did there, and her tears fall on her Soul Gem. Homura is pulled physically inside it (And looks like Moemura), where she meets Ultimate Homura, who claims to be a "part of her power", born when Madoka and Homura parted for the first time. She, the bow, and the memory magic were born from that moment, as her wish didn't want to let go of Madoka.

However, this magic isn't perfectly bound to Homura's soul, because it was never born of a wish, or a contract with Kyubey. That's why all the anomalies happened. Moreover, this new power makes contact between her old magic, the Shield and the Time Magic, allowing you to get to one if you go through the other, like siamese twins connected at the hip. This created a link to the Time Road where UKG, the Curse of the Goddess, lies; since Homura was there, she could walk back to there (Ultimate Homura is strongly implying Homura always had the ability to go back to timelines she abandoned).

Homura has a brief aside about how if UKG is there...Madoka might be there. She realizes that she'd be too tempted to one day try to use the shield to go find her, but she miscalculated when she cover it up with memory magic. The Wraiths stole some of her magic, and thus tasted the Goddess's Curse. The power that the Wraiths can't digest is UKG herself. If nothing is done, this distortion will consume all reality.

Homura wants to defeat it, even though that means closing off the road to Madoka. She speaks with her memory constructions of Sayaka, Mami, Kyouko, and Majuuka, saying that she wants to protect the world where she met them, specifically including Majuuka in all this. She makes a new contract with Ultimate Homura, who calls herself "Ai", and Homura's magic completes itself, as her time magic is (seemingly) erased to give her the complete rose blow. She wakes up healed, can use the corruption wings, and they actually ERASE grief to use. Homura's Soul Gem is cleaner than it was going into the fight, and her energy arrows are as powerful as Madoka's were, pwning Wraithpurgis.

The Shield it had breaks. Time rewinds to the beginning of EP12. They essentially recap all of that, frame for frame, except after the very end. Kyubey finds a broken piece of Homura's shield, refusing to dematerialize, and he notes that Homura might not be insane. This needs further research...
AURATWILIGHT WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. WRAITH ARC END.

Observations: 1) So Homura could always go back to timelines she left behind, though why would she want to ever.
2) The black ink-droop like patterns associated with the Clara Dolls and the Wraith arcs are also associated with UKG. This means the motif belongs to her, as Homura and the Wraiths are both influenced by her power and themes.
3) UKG is now officially the Witch of the Law of Cycles. We knew that but the confirmation's nice.
4) Majuuka is best girl.
5) I FUCKIN' TOLD ALL Y'ALLS HOMURA WAS AI.
6) Homura essentially has two contracts, and was able to make one with herself. This contract was to protect Madoka's world, and had the karmic backing of UKG, so that explains a lot tbh.
7) Fuckin' TOLD Y'ALLS about those Wings of Corruption.
8) Lol Homura actually went through two post-Madoka timelines. Nice.
9) Homura's shield fragment persists the reversing of reality and exists in the new timeline, refusing to disappear like a Magic Weapon normally does. Considering what wish the shield represents, this implies Homura's two wishes are at odds, and the wish WANTED Kyubey to do Rebellion so she could see Madoka.

I understood maaaaaaaaaaybe 1% of that, nyah :)

But good job!

My interpretation, having not read the previous summaries:

Homura's shield lets her access the un-space between worlds, but because UKG is there she nopes right the fuck out and brainwashes herself into never poking that shit ever again.

Wraiths figure out how to use her as a straw with which to drink deep of UKG's power, which is very bad for obvious reasons.

Just like how Rebellion has Perfect Mami and Perfect Sayaka, there's a Perfect Homura floating around. Normal Homura makes a contract with Perfect Homura.

This contract lets her delete grief and kill wraiths hopped up on Gretchen cocaine.

How off am I, and is there any chance of replicating this process without the whole Madokami affair?

It's described as Homura walking the other direction in the Time Road. But the previous timelines don't exist anymore, so the non-existent, dead, but undying UKG fills in the 'space' of pre-Madokami worlds?

Wraiths figure out how to use her as a straw with which to drink deep of UKG's power, which is very bad for obvious reasons.

They were trying to erase Homura's magic, but were unable to digest it, which warped them into mutants. Wraiths absorb emotions and turn them into Grief Cubes.

Just like how Rebellion has Perfect Mami and Perfect Sayaka, there's a Perfect Homura floating around. Normal Homura makes a contract with Perfect Homura.

Perfect Mami/Sayaka? Pardon me?

And "Perfect Homura" literally exists inside Homura's Soul Gem and calls herseif "Ai".

This contract lets her delete grief and kill wraiths hopped up on Gretchen cocaine.

Literally, the contract replaces her time magic with Madoka-style Fuck You I Win magic, like the grief wings in the EP12 tinger.

How off am I, and is there any chance of replicating this process without the whole Madokami affair?

What process are you referring to? Non-Kyubey-based Contracts, or something else?

 I am an uneducated person who has not read any wraith arc at all.

Please do not mind me, I have been addled for the past few days.

tl;dr Wraiths are cosmic antibodies that erase and delete emotions to prevent another universal rewrite. Homura's Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth, so after tasting her memory magic, they start behaving like Witches and taking on the forms from people's memories, like Sayaka to Hitomi and Kyouko in order to torment them.

A Wraith Madoka (fan-named Majuuka) appears, expositions, and is a genuine ally to Homura, because no matter how guilty or despairing she is, she cannot imagine a Madoka that would blame or curse anyone. The Wraith-Madoka wants to reset the equilibrium of the mutant Wraiths because a "Wraithpurgis" is developing.

UniversalPerson said:
All in favor of dismissing Wraith Arc as another Kazumi Magica, say "I".

I was never in favor of dismissing Kazumi Magica either.

Perfect Mami/Sayaka? Pardon me?
I distinctly recall that being a thing when everyone was trying to wrap their heads around Rebellion. Something about being the sum of all timelines or something?

The specific one where Homura contracts with herself, though since it destroys her time magic that seems less appealing now.

Um...I think you're referring to Sayaka and Nagisa, who are from the Law of Cycles and thus had a higher-plane perspective on their own life experiences in all possible realities, being angels, now.

This is not the same thing. This is Homura's subconscious manifesting as basically a pretty Clara Doll.

The specific one where Homura contracts with herself, though since it destroys her time magic that seems less appealing now.

To be fair, her time magic had to be destroyed in that situation, so it might not be otherwise necessary to do that.

That being said, I imagine a magical being could do whatever Kyubey does; Sabrina could probably learn how to make contracts if she cooperates with Soulguca.

This seems like a worthwhile endeavour. It's our best possible bet for seeing the relationship between hope and grief, and how intrinsic despair really is to magic.

P.S: What's your current hypothesis on what happens if Sabrina lets grief coalesce outside her range? It's increasingly obvious that wraiths shouldn't form outside worlds that have been re-written, so what would form?

You're going to have to elaborate on that, because there's explanations for everything I can think of.
It's not the explanation itself that's the problem. It's whether the explanation fits into the larger context of the setting and was properly alluded to in story.

The summary of Wratih Arc suggests its basically a random events plot where stuff happens because it's cool. That's not why people watched Madoka.

Aside from "That detail came up before Firn knew what Wraiths were and is desperately going to retcon it from Wraiths"?

Maybe some new creature that otherwise takes the role of "the general despair of mankind" like the Wraith fanon was. Let's call them Shadows.

You should probably read Wraith Arc and judge for yourself. "Ai" was pretty strongly foreshadowed to be Homura in Rebellion, and we already have established precedent for people talking to themselves inside their own Soul Gem/mind, thanks to Different Story.
