With spacial warping, barriers, and innate compression, I find it extremely unlikely that we will ever exceed our maximum grief storage capacity.

That said, back-of-the-napkin math suggests that with naive grief storage, we can store about 300 grief seeds worth of grief in our control radius.

(4/3)pi(100)^3=4.188x10^6 m3
(4.188x10^6)/(0.007 m3 <Volume of Basketball> x 2000000 <estimate of number of basketballs of grief per grief seed>)=299.14

Have we considered how we might dispose of grief permanently? Without QB?

Maybe we could just convert it to an atom of antimatter at a time? Ah crap that'd just give us Witchy Energy...

...

Oh.

Witchy energy... Dark energy...

Hey guys, do we ever end up going drinking with Homura? I think we time travelled for a bit and accidentally the universe.

I already ran that math.

Since people were talking about weaponizing grief-energy conversion, I thought I'd pull out some math from upthread.

Now, that number assumed that we're the only planet Kyuubey does business with, which is probably untrue. Using common upper bounds for the Drake Equation (36,400,000 instances of civilization in the Milky Way) multiplied by the estimated number of galaxies in the universe (200,000,000,000 galaxies), provides a lower bound on a grief seeds output at 4.55013415 × 10^33 joules, assuming all of those civilizations have active puella magi.

Using Kinematics math from earlier:

A single grief marble converted to energy comes out to a minimum of 2.27506707×10^27 joules, not quite enough to overcome the gravitational binding energy of the moon (by only two orders of magnitude!), but still many orders of magnitude more than all the nuclear weapons on earth combined.

Grief is not a toy.

TL;DR: One grief marble has more energy than all of earth's nukes combined, fifty grief marbles contain enough energy to blow up the moon.

Grief->Energy conversion produces too much energy to be a feasible way of releasing excess grief.

I don't see any reason why not to give Grief to Kyubey; all he's going to do with it us extend the lifespan of the universe.

That assumes a statistically non-significant timescale.

Idk about you, but I don't think we should be expecting to let Mami watch us die of old age :p

Well Kyubey could essentially go, "You're contracted now. See ya!" and not tell them what to do, why Grief Seeds are so important, etc.
Consider that what the Incubators want is to maximize the meguca's despair.

That means abandonement would be better for the meguca, since it doesn't maximize their despair.

The hell are you talking about? Fuck is it's own system of measurement. There are metric tonnes, there are imperial tons and there are fuck tons, which are bigger than the others.
Which one weights more: A metric ton of bowling balls, an imperial ton of trucks, or a fuck gram of Feathers?

Idle question. You are an incubator. You need to insert several witches in a city to keep a meguca productive. You know of several girls with little mental stability. How do you proceed?

Depends heavily on resources and distribution, but basically: Contract the ones who are already at the brink. Visit misfortune upon the others to make a contract seem a necessity. When they start regretting their decision, let the ones you sabotaged know you were the cause and watch them break. Lich/Witchbomb the others. Orchestrate major personal disasters to break the few survivors.

I get the feeling Kyubey's ethics prevent it from personally harming the girls or civilians, though.

About #IncubatorEthicsLol... aren't they based on some sort of mystical human potential fuckery? Something like Incubator interfence reducing humanity's potential, or something?

I know KB doesn't really make sense in the end, but since it usually only answers questions and empowers (bad) decisions (mostly through Wishes)...

Productive in what way?
I dunno, maybe as a stabilizing element, without wich a given zone enters into conflict/waste of potential. The point being, your objective is to keep her alive.

My main point was (is?) that the incubator explain things because he needs the girls alive (for a given time). If what he needs are witches (for whatever reason), he can perfectly not explain a thing.

Kyuubey is formulaic. It follows the patters its observed to work best.

Plus, simple magic usage doesn't cause that much corruption/Despair. In order to get that sweet, sweet energy bonus, you need to truly crush the meguca's dreams and hopes. It's easier for KB if its around to influence the meguca.

Hell, pretending to be their friend, just to betray them later always works, doesn't it?

And then you've got Magical Girl Cheerleaders, like Mami, who's use is not jst to Witch, but to recruit.
