The trouble with dropping timestop is twofold:

1. We told Mami we were just going to talk with Homura, not go anywhere or do anything dangerous.

2. We told her we'd be back instantly after that talk.

In retrospect, this was a poor decision caused by uncertainty over whether or not we were actually going to hunt Sasa, but we'll have to live with the constraint for all but immediate life and death situations. Even then, it's timestop - "immediate" is indefinite. If we have to break it, we should go back and bring Mami in first.

As for Sasa, if she's contracted, we should come back later, perhaps with Kirika for antimagic or Mami for extra backup. If she isn't contracted... leave a note floating in timestop, right in front of her?
Ehhh.

Literally leaving a note doesn't seem useful.

If she isn't contracted, it's a quick 'hi, bye, do you want to hang out sometime?' If she is, things have escalated to the point where we may want to bring Mami in anyway.

Did we specifically vote to drop Mami out of the time stop just to have a private chat with Homu or was it fluffed? I don't recall.

Edit: Modified Ugolino: don't end the timestop.

Alternative voting option:

[:V] Thank Homura.
-[:V] "You know..." *Look aside* "If you appreciate what I do, I do accept thanks in hugs..."
--[:V] ...
---[:V] "... Or headpats are fine too, I guess."

[x]I...It'll work out. I promise. Last loop, remember?
[x]Hug the Homu.
[x]Let's find Sasa.
-[x]Hey, if she isn't...up to anything or isn't contracted, I want to try talking to her, alone. Mind dropping me out of timestop a fair distance away when we find her? And...staying out of sight? I'd feel a lot happier with you watching my back in case she is up to something.
[x]Put actions to words.
[x]Go meet her, untransformed if she is.
[x]Hi, I'm Sabrina! Do you want to talk?
[x]Check in with Mami if too long's passed. Don't worry her.
[x]If after an extended search in timestop, you find nothing, call it off for now. There'll be other chances to find her.
-[x]Check on the two potentials.

Say no to breaking timestop. We knew this was gonna happen and made the promise anyway.

Don't wanna be a filthy liar. :)

Sabrina: I don't know how to take that as a compliment.
The promise doesn't add to the goal and actively shoots ourself in the foot in the process. I say we ignore a poorly thought out remark and at best add Mami to timestop or something.

The first thing we did when we had Mami drop out of timestop was apply a little more social-fu to Homura about the Sayaka situation, and a little more meta-analysis as to why we think we can reduce her likelihood of inevitable DOOM. Most of us also had planned on informing Homura that we'd be telling Mami about Sabrina's meta nature during this conversation, which we did en route to Sasa, and though we didn't exactly get Mom's approval we at least explained that we have several good reasons to do what we're doing. More importantly, we managed to draw Homura into another hug.

All of that was at least as important as the hunt for Sasa. Keeping Homura up to date with our thought processes, goals and schedule are vital both for those goals and for Homura's own well-being: not only does she need the reminders that the is not alone anymore, that there is someone right there with her who supports her and shares her goals (even if ours are a bit more expansive), but she really does need someone who is willing and able to dig her out of the layers of apathy she has worked so hard to wrap around herself.

Yeah, if we're going to do what you're suggesting we absolutely need to bring Mami back in, and probably should yoink Kirika in as well just in case.

The problem with that is that we picked a moment that is right at the tail end of lunch, and Homura and Mami need to be heading to class right now, so if we want to drop out of timestop to talk to Sasa we'll have to do so with only Kirika as backup. No way is Homura going to sign off on that, and Kirika herself probably won't want to leave Oriko right now either, not for any amount of non-stopped time anyway.

Not necessarily needed and almost definitely not respectively.

...Homura's right here.

"Not necessarily"? I suppose, but we're really playing with fire here, and having redundant backups are the smart choice. We don't actually know how Sasa'a power will interact with Sabrina's; she could completely no-sell Sabrina's power and turn her into a mind puppet, at which point having Kirika, Mami, and Homura there might well not be enough, now that we know that grip-with-Grief-and-fling trick for Soul Gems.

Yes, Homura is there right now, but in timestop. Your plan is to drop out of timestop, right at the end of Mitakihara's lunch period when everyone is heading back to class; that would mean that both Mami and Homura need to head to class, and can't hang around in a park to backstop Sabrina unless they want to ditch school.

Uh, Homura's right there, so...yeah, if it goes wrong, she'll be there to support us?

Homura is very powerful, but Shadow Clone is not one of her abilities. She can't simultaneously be in class and listening in on our conversation with Sasa halfway across town.

I get the feeling that you're not understanding what I'm saying. Right now, we are currently in timestop, at the very end of the Mitakihara Middle's lunch period. We know this because our friends are heading back to class, and even if a couple of them are studious enough to head back early Sayaka for one would never go back to class before the end of lunch, and Mami wouldn't head back early either because it would cut into her Sabrina-hugging time.

Your plan is to drop out of timestop to talk to Sasa. The problem with that plan is that dropping out of timestop means, well, that time resumes, and that Homura (and Mami, if we bring her in on this) then need to immediately head back to class, where they will proceed to be half a town away and unable to save us if Sasa no-sells our power and turns us into a mindslave. Neither girl can skive off of class, nor can they be in two places at once; thus your plan won't work.

Am I explaining myself well enough now?

Your explanation is irrelevant because Homura is a)here, b)If we find Sasa, she's a clear and present threat to Madoka to the extent Homulogic would make her okay with dealing with her now.

Also, that'd be a neat party trick from a girl who at best had diet Charm Person and pokemon witches in canon.

Homura is not an automaton that will BE IN CLASS RIGHT NOW BEEP BOOP with Mami there to protect Madoka and a greater problem in the form of Sasa, which is what your objection really boils down to.

So your explanation doesn't work.

Yes, but it's a valid point. Dropping timestop means making Homura skive off class (basically neglegible), but it also means Mami can't help us without also skiving off class (not neglegible).
It's essentially meaningless because if things have gone pear-shaped to the point where that's necessary, Mami's attendance is the least of everyone's concerns.

@Redshirt Army, we really should just have the picnic at any local park and not ask Homura about it, for a variety of reasons:

1 - Nagisa doesn't know magic, so no magic shows.
2 - Mami would prefer things nice and normal. No magic at the picnic.
3 - Homu wouldn't know this stuff, and she knows we knows she wouldn't know.

Other things we can include in the vote:

[ ] What does Homura know about Sasa, in case we find her contracted? What we know about her amounts to her having pet Witches and being able to insert herself in the lives of others as a 'friend'... we're worried her powers might affect us.
-[:V] Hey, if anybody was to be weak against friendship powers, it'd be us.
[:V] Hey, can we get some ice cream on the way back? What flavor does Madoka like?
[:V] Ask if she's ever had a sister named Chiaki.
-[:V] Or if she likes the name Chiaki, by chance.
[ ] About recruiting... you want to recruit meguca who'll have a decent chance at living through the fight. Any experienced meguca she can name, we can look into. We'll take care of the rest.
[:V] Can we play with her hair some time? We've noticed her hair looks very soft and could EASILY be played with, but there's a significant dearth of people playing with her hair.
[ ] Does she think we should get a surname?
-[:V] How about hers?
-[:V] Or Madoka's?
[ ] Does she know of any other dangerous meguca we should know about?
[ ] Ah, the Witch she showed us in the book, you know her by the name of Albertine.
-[:V] Nice gal, you met her while playing games one time. A little annoying, though.

Oi! That's my-
Actually,

[ ] Take Homura's hands.
-[ ] "Danke!"
-[ ] "... I mean thank you! Thank you, that's what I meant."

:V? :V?
OI!
SEE! My Thing!
Better. German. So it's the way a Witch would choose to say 'thank you'.

Rex might have his own reasons for choosing 'danke'.

It's a mystery. :turian:
I just thought it sounded cool!
Consider his current avatar. Now consider what his old user title was.
What does that have to do with- Oooooooooooooh.
It's a mystery. :turian:

Only someone who was very close to Rex could know something like that. Perhaps Rex would know, but...

It's a mystery. :turian:
Stop it.

Yeah, the others bring up some good points, I'm gonna go ahead and say that we should probably not drop the timestop. gonna just edit that last post.

Randomly:

[Q] Ask Homura if she wants you to record your talk with Mami, so you can show it to her later as an informative video about 'how to not fuck up to badly when you need to fuck up social'.

(Don't want to ask Homura about the picnic. She like doesn't really have an opinion.)

[X] Thank Homura.
-[Q] With hand-holding.
-[Q] With hugs.
-[Q] With headpats.
[X] Keep checking locations, noting anything unusual, until you find Sasa. Stop if you find any unknown Magical Girl.
-[X] If you find Sasa, do the Grief ring test, share any and all information you can about Sasa with Homura, and ask her to take some distance so she may be safe from Sasa's abilites in case she's more powerful than you expect. You'd feel safe with her watching your back, and... you're kind of worried about mind control stuff in general.

[X] (Pick random/whatever goes with the flow) Talk shop/science talk:
-[X] Ask Homura if she could spot for you some time. You've noticed Grief has a strange reaction when released in large quantities, and you want to know what it is. It might be dangerous.
-[X] About Mami... her power is based around 'connections', right? You've noticed you coordinate really well with her, despite having little to no practice together. You think team and coordiantion practice could help your group improve very quickly with Mami's help. Thoughts?
-[X] More about Walpurgis. If grief rending doesn't work out, can we basically bombard it from timestop? With infinite cleansing, we could shoot Walpurgisnacht a bajillion times a second, Mami, specially... and you probably can accelerate projectiles with Grief at ridiculous speeds, you haven't really found a maximum speed for your Grief.
-[X] And if there's any "equipment" that Homura thinks could be useful from outside Japan, we wouldn't be against providing international transport at supersonic speeds next time we go "shopping".
