[x]I...It'll work out. I promise. Last loop, remember?
[x]Hug the Homu.
[x]Let's find Sasa.
-[x]Hey, if she isn't...up to anything or isn't contracted, I want to try talking to her, alone. Mind dropping me out of timestop a fair distance away when we find her? And...staying out of sight? I'd feel a lot happier with you watching my back in case she is up to something.
[x]Put actions to words.
[x]Go meet her, untransformed if she is.
[x]Hi, I'm Sabrina! Do you want to talk?
[x]Check in with Mami if too long's passed. Don't worry her.
[x]If after an extended search in timestop, you find nothing, call it off for now. There'll be other chances to find her.
-[x]Check on the two potentials.

Hmm. If Sasa isn't contracted, it seems sort of pointless to talk to her, but isn't much of a security risk. We might as well try and mitigate her crippling issues while we can.

If she is contracted, then I'm not okay with just blithely exposing ourselves to one of our few possible counters. Moreover, since we promised Mami we'd be back in no time, dropping the timestop on us is a no-go.

And, really, given how much area there is to search, I doubt we'll even find her next update, and if we do it'll cut off for new voting that can be tailored to the situation, so there's no reason to commit on a course of action now.

Hai Ugo. Welcome back.
Thanks.

If a few kind words and another social link can defuse a problem, we should.

Contracted =/= inherently a threat with our back-up being HOMURA of all people...and frankly, being cheerful and friendly should defuse any potential issues- in canon, she was a selfish bitch but attacked over territory. Which we can make meaningless.

If we don't pose a threat to her or act superior, we effectively make ourselves friendly to her right off the bat and get off on the right foot. The beauty of Sabrina is that she shortcircuits any real reason to fight her and is inherently an asset- if she wants to think of it as taking advantage of us as a useful sap, that's fine by me.

Also, timeskips over when nothing is happening are a thing. That excuse not to just get things done doesn't hold water. Added a line for the unlikely scenario of 'nothing happens over an entire vote'.

I'm not in favor of dropping timestop due to our promise to Mami. I'd rather use Sasa as a test to see if we can use Grief-rings to pull someone in.

There's respecting our promises and the wishes of others and then there's being an absolutely passive doormat. This sort of thing is starting to seem more like the latter.

I mean, we had Homura surprised that we were waiting on vital Walpurgis prep...because of worries about her agency. Yes, Mami's concerns are important but that isn't the be-all and the end-all of what we can do.

Our friends matter, but they don't exactly have us on a leash, guys. We have initiative too and we'd be idiots not to take it when we need to.

And ehhhh AuraTwilight, that's basically escalating to hostile action/megucanapping as a Plan A against a relatively harmless unknown. I'd rather keep this civil/friendly with Homura as the secret backup at a discrete distance for if things go to hell.

"So... there's a few more things I want to talk to Homura about. I'll be with you soon, OK?"

"I-" Mami glances around at the frozen, muted grey hues of the world. "A-alright."

"It's nothing bad," you reassure Mami, pulling her into a hug and burying your face against her shoulder. "Alright? It's just something private."

"A-alright," Mami says. She tightens the hug a little, pulling away a moment later. "Alright, I'll... go back to the bench?"

"Mmm," you agree, standing and guiding her up. You smile as you walk her back over to the bench, opposite a frozen Madoka, Sayaka, and Hitomi. You can feel Homura following you. You pull Mami into a tight hug again. "I'll be with you in no time at all, yeah?"

"Yeah," Mami says, smiling weakly at you as she separates from the hug and settles back down on the bench. "Alright, I'm removing the ribbon now." She takes a deep breath and lets the ribbon fade, the bright colour leaching out of her as the timestop claims her.

If we drop the timestop early we are going to need to explain this. Mami left under the assumption we weren't putting ourselves at risk.

Well.

What do we want to do once we find Sasa? Our goals, as far as I can tell, are:
• Find out if Sasa sicced a witch on Sayaka or if something else happened there.
• If Sasa is contracted, neutralize her as a future threat, either diplomatically (if she was uninvolved) or through force (if she's already started acting against us).
• If Sasa is uncontracted, help her with her issues. Meguca are for saving!

So, if Sasa is contracted, I'm thinking we scan her in as much depth as is possible before we talk to her, just because information is power.

Then we have Homu provide overwatch from out of range (a wire-detonated claymore should work in timestop), take our best shot at an anti-mind control trinket, and then talk to Sasa.

If Sasa isn't contracted, none of those precautions are necessary, but talking to her is also far less valuable. As such, I'd be much less inclined to annoy Mami with a vanishing act over it.

Play dumb for the possibility of A. If she attacks us, well, that's what Homura's there for. And gemyanks.

If she isn't contracted, we deter that contract.

Wouldn't an explosive just kill us too? We're going to be up close talking to her. And I should probably point out that a girl suddenly appearing feeling like a Witch right up in her face might make her reflexively attack.

The trouble with dropping timestop is twofold:

1. We told Mami we were just going to talk with Homura, not go anywhere or do anything dangerous.
"Anyway... is there anything else?" you glance from Mami to Homura, and at their shaken heads, you turn back to Mami. "So... there's a few more things I want to talk to Homura about. I'll be with you soon, OK?"

2. We told her we'd be back instantly after that talk.

In retrospect, this was a poor decision caused by uncertainty over whether or not we were actually going to hunt Sasa, but we'll have to live with the constraint for all but immediate life and death situations. Even then, it's timestop - "immediate" is indefinite. If we have to break it, we should go back and bring Mami in first.

As for Sasa, if she's contracted, we should come back later, perhaps with Kirika for antimagic or Mami for extra backup. If she isn't contracted... leave a note floating in timestop, right in front of her?
