[x] I can't say I don't understand where she's coming from, really. Her mom got hurt, and... I won't be asking her to like you. But... Her driving motivation is justice, not vengeance. It... should be possible to work through this.
[x] Maybe... I was thinking of dropping in again soon, with Sayaka in tow. I thought maybe, if I introduced her to you first before saying...um, exactly why you guys are here, so she'd try and see you as people first? But... in the worst case, that just damages her trust in me...
[x] If you have any ideas, I'm all ears. It's a precarious situation that directly involves you both. Umm. I'll be in touch.
[x] Will you guys be okay? Oriko?
[x] Um, speaking of families: Kirika, one thing- your parents/family doing okay? I forgot to ask.
[x] Say your goodbyes, head to lunch.
[x] Along the way, schedule an appointment with Secretary Yuma.

Well, Kirika, that would be very insightful, if it weren't built on a foundation of not knowing what's going on.

Unfortunately, right now Sabrina can't be lovers, or for that matter even friends, with Mami right now. For the moment, we can't even be a real person around her, for fear that she'll rearrange here life to better suit our mood. Right now we're acting as an anchor, thing he down to the world so she doesn't flip out and go Candeloro on us. We have to work up to being able to 'love her', which is one of our major sources of stress right now.

Edit: like the above vote, so

Tsk. The one question you can't give an enthusiastic yes to, much as you'd like to. Well, maybe not the one question, but... much as you'd like to, you can't give Kirika a clear answer here.
"It's not like that, Kirika," you say patiently. Not like what, your traitorous mind can't help but muse. And are you not? "And I wanted t-"

I have to wonder, given the rest of the update, if the other question Sabrina would really like to say yes to, but can't, has to do with Mami.

Unfortunately, right now Sabrina can't be lovers, or for that matter even friends, with Mami right now.
"No, hold up a sec," Kirika says, eyes snapping to you and vibrant sharpness infusing her voice. "Listen. 'Not like that.' Not like what? Yeah, maybe you two aren't girlfriends. That doesn't matter. Like, the way you support her, and she supports you, and..." She waves her hand. "Yeah. Love her. You got that?"

Kirika has seen how Mami interacts with Sabrina before. She was there for the entire Sendai affair, remember? And we've met with O&K along with Mami on multiple occasions, and we've even discussed the matter explicitly with Kirika! She knows what the situation is. And she's not telling us to go ask Mami out on a date, she's telling us that in our care not to step on Mami's dependency we shouldn't simply hang her out to dry or treat her as just another friend when she's not.

We don't have time for the Kyouko visit now. It's getting close to lunch.
I don't know...

It was at nine when we got called by Benouna,
Barely past nine. You transform, and with a few quick bounds, you hop up to the roof of the office building.

A wave of yo...

...m quietly to yourself.

"Ah, sorry, Miss Bennouna," Mami's voice intrudes in your head. She stumbles a little on the name. "This is my friend Sabrina.

Then we fought a Witch, chased the familiars, some got away, then we went here, and O&K were still sleeping.

Then maid, then Seer Panic, then talk talk talk.

...

OK, it might be close to lunch now.

We should check.

Good to see that we got their consent for the whole Sayaka thing. Telling Sayaka who burnt down her house and why we are now friends with them, will be one of the more difficult social tasks Sabrina has faced in this quest so far.

And Kirika continues to be very insightful, when it comes to relationships. From now on, we should send everyone with relationship troubles to her. She's the undisputed ojou expert in this setting. Maybe if we send Sakura to Kirika for some advice on how to win over Rin, she'll stop hating us?

Wrong. We're very much friends with Mami. We're actively trusting her with how we feel, more and more, we're leaning on her just as she's leaning on us. We care deeply about her and vice versa. In terms of "cares deeply about the other", if anything, we're well past the friends point.

Also, it's less "so she doesn't flip out and go Candelero on us" and more "reassuring her when she's worried in between being there for her", which is very much something that fits yeah they're definitely friends".

"Anchor" and "friends" aren't contradictory, either.

Kirika's generally on the money in a Kirika'y way, and this time's no exception. It's fairly safe to say that Sabrina cares very much for Mami's wellbeing. What Kirika's getting at there seems to be "don't keep Mami at arm's length or deny that you care deeply about her" which is fairly sound advice.

Deleted part of the second section of Redshirt vote that I didn't think was helpful for the point we're trying to make and that I don't think should be that directly in Sabrina's thought process. Added a time clause.

There is a period of time where we'd have time to do something even if we don't necessarily have time to visit Kyouko at the moment.
Right, let's 'free' enough Grief for it to do something other than dissipating, then in order to economize times, we can just leave for lunch and take care of the mess later. :V

Sakura: "Waaaaay ahead of you."

Sabrina: "You mean you and Rin...!"

Sakura: "Um... Well, no, I mean..."

Kirika: "Hello Sakura, Sabrina! How's it going?"

Sabrina: "Hey, doing good, wait what are you doing h-"

Sakura: "'s cool. You?"

Kirika: "Same old, how's Rin doing?"

Sakura: "W-well..."

Kirika: "Do you mind, Sabrina? This is a confidential consult."

Sabrina: "... I'm sure Mami and Homura don't need to hear about this." *Walks away*

I wonder if Sabrina perceives things that aren't described.

Like, say a pedestrian passes by in the background, but Firn doesn't bother to mention it because it's just someone going about their day. A normal person would see that other person even if they didn't notice that person, because that's how brains work. There are probably a hundred unique objects in my field of vision right now that I'm not paying attention to on a conscious level, and that a reasonable author wouldn't bother describing in detail. Is Sabrina also like that? Or do the meta-rules mean that she literally only knows the things that we can know?

Say a car goes past Sabrina, and even if Firn mentions it, he doesn't describe its make or colour. Does Sabrina ever see the colour? Or does she just see the platonic notion of a car?

Sabrina does know things that aren't described in text. Like info from Homu's Witch Book, for example.

"I wish Plants vs Zombies was real!"
"Are you sure that you want to make this wish?"
"Yes, I do want to make this wish!"
"Your wish has been granted."
Later on…
"Mom! Dad! I'm home! Mom, Dad?…"
"Brains…"
"Dad! Wha-why are your eating Mom?!"
"Me Zombie now, and you next lunch."
"AAAAAHHHH!!" *begins falling to despair*

Also just pictured Sayaka burning down Oriko's house.
Oriko: You burned down my house.
Sayaka: Yes.
Oriko: The house my father worked to get us.
Sayaka: YES!
Oriko: Thank you.
Sayaka: Ye- wait what?
