Damn it, Homu. This is the last loop, you're supposed to try and mske things count with Madoka.

Baby steps...

Totally like Sabrina to focus so intently on something, she misses the important little details.

Let's also add 'bowling' to the list of things Sab should do with her friends.

Though it might be a long list... Some things can be left for timeskips?

Wait, I notice...

Hitomi dissapeared off the scene once they got to bowling, showing that, once more, she's Compulsively Masterminding from Behind the Scene.
Oops.

Yeah, Hitomi's got other things on her mind than bowling. She just went along with the flow and spent most of her time watching her friends, I guess ,as the author definitely didn't forget about her. Nope.

So, somehow in a flurry of schoolwork and confusion I had completely missed the last update and the heartwarming omake until today. Still, just wanted to through my two cents in on a background theory, on Feathers, inspired by both jokes and my own reread of some poetry:

(Plot twist: We are Madoka! Also Oriko.
Also Walpurgis and Feathers.
The one causing our problems is ourselves! Repeatedly!)
Defeating Feathers is our top priority! :V

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

So, is it just me, or does that seem pretty descriptive of Sabrina? Something that has feathers (like her grief wings), makes music without words, "never stops", never asks anything of anyone and gives to the point where it possibly endangers her. And most of all, Sabrina brings hope.

From all this, and her witch name, that translates as "to bring an end to grief", I'm starting to wonder if "Feathers" is either witch Sabrina, who is semi-present in this time because of weird magic-time interactions (if your wish alters the past, you may end up there occasionally/partially, like Madoka and Homura) or possibly just future Sabrina, who doesn't want Oriko to see certain horrible things and is trying to halp! and shelter her without the general tact/social awareness that not being able to see certain futures is upsetting past/current Oriko. Because frankly, many of Sabrina's problems are caused by her own actions, and it would be fascinating if Feathers was at least a part of that.

...guys, we heard about Feathers from Oriko alone, right?

She was our antagonist. If we'd been less OP or less nice, we'd have killed her in Arc 1.

Which would mean we'd never had heard about Feathers...which would mean we'd have no primary antagonist, besides Kyubey? at the moment.

Is Feathers even our enemy, or just Oriko's? Hell, is Feathers even dangerous, or is it just something which breaks precog?

I mean, Madokami fits that bill just as well as Dedolere or Homucifer. Plenty of others too, in theory...anyone who creates an impossible future, really.

Feathers would have blindsided us if we hadn't known, or we'd have found out other ways.

Feathers has caused damage, and Oriko generally means well...so I think we can trust her word.

Feathers has nearly killed Sayaka and summoned anomalous Witches. I think we can say it's at the least dangerous.

Sayaka nearly died, and anomalous witches were summoned. We've conflated those things along with Oriko's precognition being disrupted under the blanket name of "Feathers", but correlation does not imply causation.

Thing is that it's strongly suggestive, and for lack of a better theory to explain it...

Oh, I won't disagree that the timing is suspicious, but without confirmation of some kind one way or another, it's important to keep an open mind and objectively consider the facts instead of getting tunnel vision on one theory.

@redzonejoe, it's your chance to shine!

Again, I'll point out the only way we have to confirm Oriko's visions being blocked is from Oriko herself, a lying liar who lies.

What if, when we brought Sayaka along, we tried to get her to copy Buckethat's powerset? A second, trustworthy opinion would settle this question rather decisively.

Are you sure Sayaka's opinion would be trustworthy/unbiased?

INB4 Sayaka sees alternate-future-evil-Sabrina (Why hello, Mistress of Misery) and attempts to defeat us in the name of JUSTICE.
:V

Sayaka's a good person. To the point of her own death, in some cases, but a good person. If we told her we needed her to do the scry to test if there's a truly evil enemy trying to destroy the world or something, she'd be up for that.

For that matter, have we considered trying to talk to her about Rebellion? If this is Valkyrie Sayaka, if we just started showing her drawings of Homura as the devil, we might get somewhere.

We...really shouldn't be talking about Rebellion. Not just because that scenario's unlikely.

Also, I think we can trust Oriko to the point where these tests aren't helpful. At best they flop, at worst they undermine Oriko and Kirika's trust in US.

I've stated my desire to witchbomb Sayaka relatively soon already, and been shot down, but the fact of the matter is that with a powerset like the one she has now, we can't keep her in the dark forever, and the longer it takes for it to come out, the more betrayed she'll feel for not letting her know.

The fact of the matter is that she won't take learning it well and not just her. We can't tell her, I don't believe her powerset makes her getting witchbombed at ALL as inevitable as you're suggesting, and she won't feel betrayed by that in particular so much as be appalled that it was a thing in the first place.

It's not so much that her power makes it inevitable as that her being in on the secret makes her so much more useful - She's a power copier, right? Well, an extra copy of Sabrina or a working version of Oriko would be nice, but it risks a witchbomb. Having an extra copy of the soulguca? Risks a witchbomb. And having Sayaka's help with dewitching would actually solve one of our major problems - her wish magic is scanning the souls of others, the exact thing our powers can't do!

Don't forget that there's going to be a swarm of foreign magical girls coming into Mitakihara, drawn by verified accounts of a girl that can control grief. Make no mistake, if we want these various secrets to come out on our terms, we are on a timer.
