People should still not vote for a vote that doesn't exist yet, if they want to vote for someone, they should wait until the vote is made and then read it.
I likely should have phrased it a different way but when it seems people are going '___ is smart, I'll vote for them now and come back after the next update.' things will be missed.
...I know I don't speak for someone else, why would you even think that?

Because that's exactly what you're doing. Saying, their votes shouldn't count because Ugo didn't make a vote yet. Even though he's been discussing the update and an approach he prefers to go next and people are reading his posts, agreeing with them and voting early because that's perfectly within their rights to do so. Hell, he already has proto votes up.

I'll admit I'm pretty damn annoyed right now.

Maybe you should talk to @Knightfall and @apeljohn directly about why their votes shouldn't count.

Oh haha very funny.

Votes shouldn't be counted until they 'exist'.
I agree with the sentiment (I personally prefer votes where the result arises over time as people actively suggest improvements and alternatives rather than immediately bandwagoning), but people are allowed to vote however they wish. And there could be some situations where it would be quite wise to let someone else vote for you (such as when you don't have enough time to craft a vote and expect to be away from the story until after the update).

Symmetry Diamond Part 1 summary up: Manga - Ugolino Reads About Megucas: Symmetry Diamond

Some relevant information so far:
Kirika tries to be supportive with that Oriko's issues, saying that she's sure she'll do it- that it's Oriko they're talking about.
Oriko: "Maybe I can't control my magic because my heart is troubled. My wish was granted but have I changed at all? Am I still trapped?"
Oriko feels that thinking of yourself as a good person is arrogant, and that people are born imperfect.
Sasa Yuuki loves to chew the scenery. Even when it's just Kyubey there to see it.

I'll take the moment to point out, as cool as getting distracted by LZRS would be, Symmetry Oriko could LZRS all along, only problem was lack of magic, as pointed out here.

So it's likely our Oriko can LZRS, too.

We should have a LZRS competition some day.

Sabrina v Oriko v Ramiel

Actually, it seemed more like an attempt to throw an orb that fizzled.

Actually, it seemed more like an attempt to throw an orb that fizzled.
It was a bunch of rays of light gathering into an orb in her palm.

While not impossible she was trying to shoot the orb, I'd say it was a laser ray. If she wanted to throw the orb, the motion would be more like pointing, or actually making a throwing motion?

Still, point is that Oriko might already be able to LZRS, so Kirika will just look at us weird if we bring it up like it was something new... hell, that would point our 'precog' to be kind of... untrustworthy? Not that we're claiming it's perfect, or anything.

Eh, we've never seen how her lasers work have we?
Only while already firing.

[ORACLE RAY] Simple rays of light flowing from the orbs.

What makes me think she was about to LZRS was that she already had an orb in the palm of her hand -those are basically always manipulated by TK, so I doubt that's magic intensive enough to matter, and was gathering strands of magic on it and pointing her open palm towards wherever she was aiming. It just looks like a magical wave attack being prep'd.

I think Oriko's already implied she either couldn't do lasers or didn't know she was able to.
I don't think we've ever mentioned it.

Come to think of it, Oriko and Kirika were magical girls on their own for just a few days. Oriko mentioned they didn't even know how to roofhop when Sabrina took them grocery shopping. We also had to teach Kirika how to heal, Oriko how to block pain using her soul gem, both the very basics of enchantment, etc.

I'd say we should give them a proper class at some point, but Homura. A trial run of the class for Sayaka might be appropriate though.

...we'd leave out the "Advanced Topics" section on the magical girl system.

You sigh. "Not quite," you say. "The point is that that version of Oriko had better odds against Walpurgisnacht than you do. She could shoot frigging lasers, and she wasn't crippled by her own magic. She used her visions - they didn't use her. And whatever happened, if you died, you died together, with no regrets."

"Sabrina..." Kirika sits up a little, frowning at you.

Oriko's jaw sets. "I'm sorry I'm not as 'awesome' as my other self," she growls.

We mentioned it. No indication she can do lasers.

They're already far more advanced on that one than most Magical Girls...

We mentioned it. No indication she can do lasers.
I won't take it as definite proof, but I guess.

"OK, I'm all fired up! What are we doing today? Fencing? Shooting? Roof h- are those books?"

"Of course there's books."

*Gapes*

"A Magical Girl must be very dedicated and study hard in order to improve her magical powers."

"I..."

*Nods*

*Drops to her knees*

"I regret everything..."

*Snickers*

"Why did I think being a Magical Girl would be cool?"

*Shakes*

"Of course there's books... I'm such an..."

*Groans*

"Wait, what are you- hey!"

"Pfff... HA-HA! Fell for it! You should've seen your face! Ha-ha-haaa..."

"... You said you're not a melee type, Sabrina? I think I should teach you a thing or two today."

"..."

*Gulps*

Breaking News!

In an astonishing turn of events...!

Knightfall has turned violent!

How will this affect Knightfalls popularity polls for the next elections?

Find out, next time in P.M.A.S!

You're kind of mocking both me and Knightfall, if it was just me I'd think you are being unnecessarily sarcastic but involving Knightfall...

Bit late but you shouldn't continue it.

Relevant Symmetry Diamond Oriko's reaction to not being able to find Kirika:

"Why? Why couldn't I predict that Kirika would be in trouble? All I predict are pointless things! I can't foresee what I want to foresee! I'm useless! So useless! I'm a failure as a magical girl! I don't need this kind of magic...I can't do anything...No one needs me!"

... I really think those two votes for Ugolino should be removed from the next vote.
If people are voting for Ugolino's vote without Ugolino making a vote then people are being too lazy. (Among other things.)

It's less being lazy and more not knowing when I'll next have the time and energy to visit SV.

It also relates to the general question of why people vote. A lot of readers - I'm guessing this includes you - view the quest as a collective roleplaying experience, and vote because you want to see a particular outcome. Either because that outcome gives the best result, or because it's in character.

Other members of the audience - and this includes me - view the quest as a work of fiction to be read and enjoyed. We don't vote because we particularly care about the outcome; we trust the QM to write an interesting story based on whatever set of prompts they're given. We vote because it encourages the QM to keep on writing. It's the equivalent of writing reviews on FanFiction.Net.

In this case, based on @Ugolino's comment, I trust them to pick a plan that will be easy and/or fun for the QM to write. That's pretty much all I need out of a vote. Unless they suddenly switch to a plan that is actively trolling the QM, I consider my mission accomplished.

Actually, something I thought:

Little to no self esteem, dark haired girl who thinks the World of her, gets vindicated through helping others...

Am I talking about Oriko or about Madoka so far?

:p
