[x] That Oriko... the conclusion she reached was that she wasn't living her life wholeheartedly - both in her personal life, in her feelings for ...that Kirika, and in trying to change events. Oriko puts on the "sinister plotting" act, but that Oriko... when she took action herself, and tried to help someone directly - not as part of some plot, but just an honest attempt to make things better... she wished to find a meaning to her life, and that Oriko found it in trying her honest best to help people, and in spending time with that Kirika.
-[x] And reaching that conclusion, she got far greater control over her powers, and sweet lasers. Really cool lasers. So cool.
--[x] So, uh, I don't know the whole story there. My knowledge of other timelines is spotty. But it... it seems to me like reaching a state where she feels like she's found a meaning to her life really helped with that Oriko's magic. And... it sounds really sappy, but that Kirika was the meaning of that Oriko's life. So I guess one solution would be for you to use the power of Love to cure her... we really are magical girls, huh?

Hmmm.

Not sold on the summary- needs more stressing that Oriko isn't doomed to die and that we're worried about her seeming reigned to that conclusion, and the idea that it would be BEST for everyone...

Yeah, I'll need to actually reread Symmetry Diamond :V

We can probably summarize the story better rather than saying "I dunno, other timelines"- also we can probably give Kirika more specific advice. Something like "You're probably the only one who can get through to her. Don't let her give up" or something?

The only things I'm really attached to are mentioning how cool Oriko's lasers are (so cool) and telling Kirika to embrace the mahou shoujo and use the Power Of Love to save Oriko. If you think we can do a better summary of Symmetry Diamond, go for it - but a broader overview followed by a question period from Kirika is probably going to be more useful than giving a more detailed plot recitation.

Kirika's wish was to help Oriko, so the strands of fate themselves ought to conspire to have her ask the right questions, which makes me think that giving as much control over the conversation as possible to Kirika is the best approach.

So yeah, a broad summary, followed by:

[ ] So, uh, if you've got any questions, I'll answer them as best I can.

or similar.

That or we just make a copy of Symmetry Diamond and hand it to her. It's not like getting life goals and advice out of magical girl manga isn't something she's done before. :V

Objection, we don't have that kind of 4th wall breakage. :p

I'm more interested in what ELSE we say to her as well as summarizing symmetry diamond...and I'm leery of relying TOO heavily on Kirika's wish's (possible) help.

[q] Make a manga covering the entirety of the known events in the timeline where Oriko gained full control of her powers.
-[q] In full color.
--[q] Art Style: Hirohiko Araki.

We don't have to literally make an exact copy of Symmetry Diamond to get our knowledge across in a format Kirika will find digestible. :V

Telling Kirika how the other timeline played out in more detail and how that Oriko discovered the meaning of her wish and her life will surely help, but do we have anything that we can tell Kirika that she specifically can do? Any thing she can do, that she isn't doing already? She already loves Oriko with all her heart and is supporting her. What else can she do?

We could try some serious brainstorming with Kirika, after she heard the full story about the other timeline and we answered her questions about it? She knows this Oriko better than us after all. Oriko loves her, even if she is neglecting her lately due to her condition. I feel the solution definetely has to come from Kirika.

IIRC Kirika seemed on the verge of saying something a few times during our talk with Oriko. Maybe we could ask her what she wanted to say?

I don't really know how to proceed here. I feel like we made some headway on the overall situation, but it seems like we could still easily fuck it up.

I'm wondering whether we should tell Kirika just how we got Oriko to give up after fighting her.

Oriko didn't want her to know, but I'm not feeling very charitable towards her... Of course, Kirika maight flip out if she doesn't go doki-doki-how-romantic-first...

As tempted as I am to try to whip up some manga with a cover that is very conspicuously coated with lilies, I don't think Oriko's willing to sit there twiddling her thumbs while Kirika plows through it.

Well, since 'Witchy Feeling' is already activated, we can surreptitiously finally make that Grief-Homura's Shield so Kirika can have all the time to read.

Plot twist: It works!

Further Plot Twist!: Making the Shield takes 30+ minutes!

Twisting Plot!: Oriko likes the manga!

It's not like we would have to go into detail. Just say that Oriko only decided live and work with us to keep her safe. That her stubborn desire to stay quiet and martyr herself instantly crumpled when she realized the consequences for Kirika.

"So you copied my shield..."

"Mmmhmm."

"...And gave it to Kirika..."

"Mmmyeeep."

"...So she could read manga?"

"Yuuup."

"..."

"...Wait, come back!"

*Stops with door half open*

'... She actually stopped!... Shit, I didn't plan what to say next!'

*Homustare ~ twitching version*

'Say something!'

"Uh... Oriko's manga's art quality is all over the place."

*SLAM!*

*Flinches*

"Shit... I should've known she'd prefer anime over manga."

But not really. She's so fine with Kirika dying alongside her.

Eternal torment, no.

Death? Yes.

If we don't really explain what happened, we wouldn't make sense.

She wasn't fine with it. It's just that she knew that if we killed her, that we'd kill Kirika as well. Oriko isn't even really fine with herself dying.

Tempted to just throw caution into the wind and get it over with.

[q] Smack her upside the head.
-[q] "It's you, dummy."
[q] Explain Oriko's epiphany in SD.
[q] "Now go back in there and demand that she not die."

:V

...Are we absolutely certain that the meaning of Oriko's life is the same in this timeline as it was in that timeline?

We (myself included) have been falling into the exact same trap we criticized Homura for lately- this Oriko is not that Oriko.

Sabrina: Oriko .. listen to me. You can't die, your guiding principle in life is 'what would cause Sabrina the most issues?' Who will drive me up the walls without you?
Oriko: Homura.
Sabrina: ... damn it.

I don't think we're giving enough credit to the problem-propagating abilities of Sayaka here.
Sabrina is at least two Sayakas, three Kyoukos and a Sabrina so I think Sayaka subconsciously recognizes we can out-Sayaka her if such a thing were needed.

She is likely building up her power before she Sayakas all over the timeline.
