Oriko groans, her head lolling back with eyes closed. "Sabrina. Please," she whispers. "Just... leave me alone for a while. We can talk more later. If that's alright, Kirika?"

"I-" Kirika shakes her head. "I don't... I... it feels like that's a mistake, Oriko."
Vote should account for the fact that Kirika's the one being prompet to talk, here.

To be honest, Oriko suffering was always gonna be a part of this conversation, so long as we didn't fail completely. We are, after all, trying to break her out of a way of thinking, and breaking things about people tends to hurt those people.

We're not gonna leave victorious; whether Oriko agrees with us or not, it's only gonna happen later, after we leave and she's got time to think about things.

This might be slightly heretical to say, but I don't really have any desire to talk to Mami right now.:V Or really anyone right now, for that matter.

The choices that I'm in favor of for now are:
1.) Prompt Kirika into saying something. Her life is pretty much tied to Oriko, so she should have some say in this.
2.) Say just enough to prompt Oriko, and just listen.
3.) Go off into a separate room to decompress and just silently think for a while.

I think I'm in favor of option 1.

Also remember guys Sabrina is a bit agitated, and will make argumentating more difficult, just saying to wait the feelings to cooldown a little bit, and have a nice chat with Mami to relax.

Some combination of 1 and 3 I think will be most helpful here.

[x] Muramasa.

We need to end this house arrest. I don't see any other solution. We need to end this fucking house arrest and have Oriko actively help us in solving problems.

Maybe something like this?

[X] Cleanse Oriko.
[X] Tell Oriko to wait on that for a bit.
[X] Talk to Kirika.
-[X] As far as you see it, this has much to do with her as with Oriko. So if there's anything else that she wants to say about all this, now is the time.
[X] Just sit and listen.

Incidentally, the update might have showed somewhat of a flaw with the whole monologue/speech type votes. In that it's pretty clear when Sabrina should just stop because she's going about something the wrong way in the update, but she ends up continuing on anyway.

Yeah, I think that problem has been clear for a long time now. Not sure how to get around it, maybe include in votes like that something like "[] If at any point it becomes clear that continuing the planned monologue will backfire, stop the there."?

Or we could just not do long monologues. It would slow down the updates a bit, but that's probably preferable to screwing up.

We can use more 'general' votes, or include conditions to stop and make a new vote.

Like,

[] Try to get everyone to calm down, yourself included. If emotions don't go down, interrupt vote.
-[] Dismiss the maid outfit. <- I think this should get more priority, just for seriousness' sake
-[] Apologize and ask for a break, instead. You could go for a bit of fresh air?
-[] Reassure Kirika, by telepathy.
-[] Once outside, telepathy Mami to chat about mundane stuff.

Mind, not much that can go horribly here, except Oriko taking exaggerated amounts of offense at us insisting we stick around?

Well, that was predictable.

EDIT: Focusing on Alt!Oriko and how successful she was and saying that Oriko could be successful too, without going over any of the WHY or HOW as anything more than an afterthought? Yeah, the plan lost Oriko's attention and patience, and no wonder. She's lashing out because she caught in a death-spiral of jaded resignation.

To break that, you need to say things that bite right into the core of the issue, in ways she can't possibly ignore or argue against, in ways that she can't be defensive against because the arguments she makes to herself don't even take them into account at all. Show her that her entire paradigm is wrong on a simple, obvious level.

[X] Everyone needs to cool off. Cleansing.
-[X] Dismiss the maid outfit, it doesn't help anything and might be distracting / disruptive
[X] Take Kirika aside (either physically, or talking by telepathy), and explain what you want to get through to Oriko.
-[X] Be blunt and direct about what you think is important for both her and Oriko to know.
-[X] Start with what you want Oriko to understand.
-[X] Ask Kirika if getting Mami or anyone else involved in this intervention would help.

This is not just "Oriko freaks out", this is "Friend has a problem that is destroying her life and sanity". We need to start by talking to her partner to see how best to approach her, get more second opinions on what is wrong with her, and make this a larger plan. Honestly, I would almost consider asking Kyuubi more, because he doesn't want magical girls' magic falling apart before they can become witches.

...Going to try and votecraft tomorrow if no one has a bright idea in the meantime.

For now,

[x]Muramasa

Actually why the hell not? Get a fucking doctor involved to get a proper prescription. It's certainly better than allowing her to suicide.

Talking doesn't work. She doesn't want or can't see alternatives with her current mentality. Her current mentality doesn't allow us to alter her mentality by talking to her.
Wrong. Talking is the only thing that WILL work here and now.

What I'd give for some kind of Geas/Magical Oath Meguca. Get her here, get Homura here, have Oriko and Kirika oath that so long as they live they will never attempt to harm Madoka, undo house arrest. #Agency.

So... do we have any kind of realistic plan to get Oriko some agency without Homura and/or Sayaka flipping out? Because I'm very much at a loss here.

- [jk] Try not to cry
-- [jk] cry a lot
-- [jk] "How can I save the world if I can't save my friend?"
