Anyway, healing Hitomi's arm shouldn't take very long at all. The bone's set, everything is there and her arm's already in the process of healing.

Maybe let Madoka and Sayaka do most of the explaining, then we'll correct any gaps in their knowledge? Then cover anything else they haven't gone over. Maybe even have Sayaka suggest healing Hitomi and Kyouske. They know Hitomi best, so they should know how to pace and phrase the explanations too.

Also:
[] "Madoka and Sayaka kind of got dragged into it by accident. That's how they met Mami."
Probably my shitty memory acting up again, but have they told us IC about how Madoka and Sayaka met Mami? This might accidentally set off the meta-bomb.

Edit:
... On a completely random note, @defenestrator - I just noticed the logo you made, and am rather impressed by it.
Thanks :)

It's information Sabrina could've gotten from Mami and/or Homura at any particular time so it's not like Mado/Saya can question it.

"Don't worry, Hitomi; I've been playing a lot of Surgeon Simulator 2013 lately, so I'm pretty good at this kind of stuff. Kyousuke's hand is going to be fixed in a jiffy, and everything will be just fine."

*Two hours later*

"WHY IS THERE BLOOD EVERYWHERE?!"

"Sorry about that! Accidentally nicked his artery with the bonesaw a while back! And somehow, the blood pressure hasn't gone down at all, which is why it's still shooting everywhere! So that's, um, good news! I think."

"HOW DID YOU SLICE OPEN HIS NECK WITH A BONESAW?! YOU WERE OPERATING ON HIS HAND!"

"Well, I...er, missed. A little. It happens. But don't worry, he's still got some blood left! And I absolutely have not accidentally stabbed myself with a drug injector meant for Kyousuke, so I am definitely not completely tripping balls right now!"

"Oh, Sabrina..."

Ah, the hilariousness of Surgeon Simulator. Thanks for the laughs, Salty, I needed a few.

We were going to tell her about metaknowledge before getting sidetracked (again) so that's likely to be a thing that happens soon anyway, if we remember to do it.

You glance at Mami, imagining her with an enormous afro. Possibly one made out of Grief. You'd be able to pull off an Einstein, maybe. You've got the hair colour, anyway. And maybe a musician for Homura... Beethoven. Or maybe you could wear those giant head mask things.

...

The hell are you thinking?

Some days, you wonder if you really do have brain damage.

this part just cracks me up everytime i read it. I just love the way sabrina randomly goes off on a tangent at the drop of a dime

though I wonder if that means her witch will too. Fighting for your life against deledore, then tea party XD

Less on Mado/Saya, and more on Mami realizing she hasn't told us about that incident and wondering how we knew. Again, I could've just forgotten, and she already told us about it.

We've left meta hints before that she didn't call us on, particularly during the lich bomb reveal. Well, we already admitted to Mami we have secrets to tell her so this isn't a major issue.

I don't think it's a problem if we do "set off" this "bomb" at this juncture. Earlier, yes. Now? Probably something that'll get brought up later if someone notices, but not something that will be called on confrontationally.

[x] "Madoka and Sayaka kind of got dragged into it by accident. That's how they met Mami."
Kyuubey was certainly waiting for the right opportunity to recruit Madoka, and used Homura hunting him down for extra sympathy points. Sayaka being there was coincidence. The witch being there was coincidental (Homura didn't expect it), and thus their stumbling onto Mami was accidental as well. So there's a mix of accidental and deliberate in there, which is why it's (somewhat) accidental. IE: Kyuubey would certainly try to make contact with Madoka, but the specific events that happened were not planned.
Kyuubey was actively trying to recruit Madoka. Whether Homura and Mami were part of his sales pitch or a convenient coincidence is beside the point. And Sayaka had enough potential that he probably would have tried to recruit her even if Madoka were not in the picture. Calling their introduction to the magical world an accident would only be true "from a certain point of view" (AKA a lie).

Why do you even want to call it an accident? So that we don't have to talk about what makes Madoka and Sayaka "special" (AKA potential)? Hitomi asked about it directly and it's not really that hard to explain: potential is basically the energy that Kyuubey gets from making a contract. It also happens to be correlated to the strength of the resulting magical girl, but that's more of a side effect.

They told us in the second or third chapter. And please don't call it the meta-bomb. There's nothing particularly dangerous about it, it's mostly just confusing and potentially time consuming and we haven't had time to explain it yet to anyone besides Homura.

It's only safe compared with the witch and lichbombs. The idea that we knew information about Mami and friends from the start, things they hadn't told anyone about or had no reason to expect us to know? That's something we want to handle carefully when we tell her.

Meta-bomb's a good starter secret. It's important, and it explains a lot, but it also shouldn't crush her, and it explains why we know all the other shit as well. The only bad part is that we may as well come clean right there that we never knew a magical girl before we made our wish; we just already knew a bunch of stuff for reasons we didn't understand.

Explaining the meta-bomb may also mean revealing that we know a disturbing amount of very private knowledge about Mami: we know why she has severe abandonment issues and how lonely she is, and (dear god) we know the details surrounding her wish.

At this point there are very few things of a personal nature that they might object to us knowing which we haven't already found out from being friends with them. Madoka sleeps with a bunch of plush stuffed animals. The details about Kyouko and Mami's breakup. Hitomi has a crush on Kyousuke. That's all I can think of offhand.

It's not so much what they'd have a problem with us knowing now, it's what they'd have a problem with us knowing when we first met them. Probably the biggest pitfall with the meta-bomb is Mami possibly doubting that we ever really were her friend. Hopefully we can frame our knowledge of her in such a way that it doesn't make it seem like we only befriended her because of her power and importance in Mitakihara. We should be able to, but it's a problem to look out for.

Well, yeah. We have to be sensitive and careful when we explain it. But the same thing goes for many social situations. The point is that our meta-knowledge is not intrinsically dangerous in the same way that the witchbomb is, so the word "bomb" doesn't really fit.

The meta-firework? Has dramatic results when you set it off, but is only dangerous if you screw up?

"Mami?"
"Yes, Sabrina?"
"Could we sit down? I have to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"You see, Mami, the truth is...I want to have sushi for dinner."
"What? Are-are you sure?"
"Yes, but the important thing is this doesn't change how I feel about you. I'm staying with you even if we have hamburgers for dinner."
"...Thank you, Sabrina, but still...this is a lot to take in."
"Take all the time you need. I'm here."
