The rewards of pushing our luck just aren't worth the likely result of him hinting at the witchbomb, getting information on our goals, or all around making our life more difficult. We get nothing out of giving him an excuse to show up and cause trouble.

He has a specific method and keeps up a veneer of "cutsey helpful mascot" even when there's a more direct approach. The potential for him to sow disord or hint at what the others don't know is reason enough to NOPE NOPE NOPE interacting with him beyond giving him grief marbles until we have specific, immediately useful questions to ask.

We don't give him an opening to talk if we don't need to.
Kyuubey is capable of telepathying us directly, so if he wants to directly mislead us or break us via talking (and has the information/skill to do so), then he can do so at any time, regardless of our desires. If we initiate the questions, however, then we would have the dominant say in how the conversation flows; the best that Kyuubey could do in that case would be to to perform damage control by trying to hide sensitive information from us.

To put it a different way: us initiating the conversation would be the active approach whereas doing nothing and hoping that Kyuubey stays quiet and doesn't mess with things would be the passive approach. All other things being equal, Firnagzen prefers us to be proactive.

...That's being proactive in the sense sticking the gun in our mouth and gleefully pulling the trigger is proactive. There's no reason to do it and it's quite likely to backfire. We have no good reason to tempt fate.

Edited again.

[x]Catch up to the others.
[x]Talk to Mami. Bring up telling Hitomi the truth and the possibility of healing Kyosuke soon since it isn't fair to her or Sayaka to keep her out of the loop, and you think it might be making things worse between them. Let Sayaka know via telepathy, and ask if she wants to be there for it or to tell Hitomi herself if so.
[x]When we reach the hospital, after we've talked to Kyosuke for a while...
[x]Encourage Sayaka to talk to him if he looks dejected and she isn't.
[x]Ask to have a word with Hitomi in private, depending on what Sayaka said earlier.
-[x]Magical girls are real, and that isn't a good thing. We're one. Demonstrate.
-[x]Tell her everything that Madoka and Sayaka know already about magic. The contract's a trick with consequences that Kyubey intentionally keeps from everyone. Tell her the plan to heal Kyosuke. We think she and Sayaka need to talk about things. If Sayaka isn't there, talk to her about how she feels indebted to her and how we're worried about how it might make things worse. Ask to heal her too.
[x]Pasta for dinner.

The analogy doesn't quite hold up. Kyubey knows if he tries to talk to us that we'll just tell him to fuck off, but when we initiate questions, our questions give a lot of insight into what we're trying to do.

Only if we're not careful about what we ask. For each question we ask him we should first ask ourselves what information he could glean from the question that he does not already know. Dangerous? yes. More dangerous than continuing to remain ignorant of Kyuubey's actions and motivations? no.

Other questions that we can ask Kyuubey:
1. What has he been up to lately in Mitakihara and the surrounding area?
2. What was his involvement with respect to the Post Office witch that we fought near Oriko's house?
3. What was his involvement with Ono Megune? Why didn't he tell her about the other meguca in the city?

The primary issue with Kyubey is that people have a strange tendency to trust him and take his words at face value, even when they should really know better. Interacting with him isn't much of a problem, so long as we're actually smart about it. He almost certainly knows what we're up to by now anyway, or at least has a really good idea. It's when he interacting with others, that you guys should really be worried and paranoid.

All the more reason to give him as few chances as possible to talk to them.

Of course, we could decide to simply assassinate Kyuubey. We could create a grief device which shows the link between a body and the soul which controls it. It would be trivial to verify that it works on ourselves, and then we could find one of Kyuubey's bodies while in timestop (possibly the one in Oriko's closet, if it's still there) and see if it works on him. If it does, then we could follow the thread back to whatever passes for his soul gem. If it's not out of reach in the dark beyond of outer space or in another dimension, then we can kill or capture it.

I don't know if it's possible, and even if possible I don't know if we should do it. At the very least it would probably invite reprisal from the other incubators, so it shouldn't be done lightly.

Is it me or does it feel like we're trying to do too much here? Also why are we bringing up Hitomi up right now anyway? Healing and dealing with Kyosuke is already going to be a big enough headache by itself. This is just piling on the stress for Sayaka.

As canon Kyouko helpfully demonstrated, QB will spout deliberate misrepresentations, distortions and half-truths when it serves its ends. Given a choice between working off information which may mean the precise opposite of what we think it does and spending update after update digging through every possible semantic ambiguity, trying to extract information from QB doesn't look very appealing.

I hereby endorse this product and/or service, buuut I'm betting there are serious snags to be overcome here.

Because half of the issue here is Sayaka/Hitomi, and if we're healing him, this is the best time to defuse that particular mess. This needs to get done to clear the air.

This just vastly overcomplicates things in an already complicated situation, IMO. Aren't we healing him today as well? Dropping the magical girl bomb on and healing two people in the very same day while dealing with Sayaka's guilt with Hitomi and her crush on Kyousuke seems like a bit much. Remember what Mami said about pacing ourselves?

We have been pacing ourselves, but there's ultimately no good way to untangle Hitomi knowing and the idea of healing Kyousuke. This way stops it from quietly festering any further and lets us deal with things in the open.

I thought we already decided we didn't have time to heal him today.
