How far are we from Mami's place? If it's not too far maybe we can just tell her about the signature. Given her feelings about magic she'd probably accept it at face value even though its our first meeting
You don't know that. You could ask Madoka and Sayaka, though in the interests of avoiding a three line update, I'll expect you guys to also prepare responses for the inevitable 'why, what's up?'

[x]Warn them about what's probably another Witch and something...odd.
-[x]Ask them if they can call Mami and tell her where we are.
[x]See if we can see what the small signature is while keeping a very wide berth from the black hole of Witch-stuff.

Edit: I still think that Sabrina should end up with some penalty while channeling the grief.
Channeling minuscule amounts of it (like witch kiss, low level familiars) would not give her any trouble (only light headache). If she used her ability to channel more than 100 points of grief (GP for short) she should be in a lot of pain. She is also using her soulstone for it and some corruption should end in it (at least 1/10 of channeled grief). If the pain overwhelms her she should end with all grief she is channeling in her soulstone.

I have also an idea for (unwanted) sideefect of her manipulation - Unwanted clairvoyance. She could (if she fail on check) see a glimpse of traumatizing memory from who's grief she is channeling. The trauma of the memory should add to the failure risk.

Destroing the grief - schould be very painful and Sabrina gets good dose of embarrassing and traumating memories. Right now it schould be imposible for more then witch kisses.

Non-puella grief - Sabrina can manipulate grief of civilians the same way as Puella Magi's or witches' grief with same consequence. She could take Kyousuke's or Madoka's grief away easily.

High grief tolerance - on the other hand Sabrina could have right now rather high tolerance for grief (on par or higher than Mami). +1000 to capacity of her soulstone?

Unforeseen Consequences pt. 5
You halt abruptly in your tracks. "Sabrina? What's wrong?" Madoka asks.

"There's a Witch, about a hundred meters in that direction. I think it's a Witch, anyway," you say slowly, garnering curious looks from the girls and another glassy-eyed stare from Kyuubey. "And... something else, movin- wait."

The second signature, the smaller one, moves closer to the first, enormous presence before disappearing from your perception even as your try to focus your senses towards discerning more. The titanic mass of Grief, by contrast, remains stationary, broadcasting its malignant presence across your senses.

"The other one just disappeared," you say. "I- I don't even know what it is. Was."

Sayaka and Madoka exchange alarmed glances, and Sayaka responds to you first. "Maybe it's someone who was Kissed by a Witch?" she offers. "You should go after her!"

Kyuubey, however, interjects. "I don't understand how your powers work, but it's possible that the second presence you sensed was a magical girl? Either the irregular or Tomoe Mami?"

You suck in a breath at that reminder. "Madoka, Sayaka, maybe you should call Mami and check with her? How far are we from her home?"

"Y-yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Sayaka says, hand slipping into her bag. She withdraws her handphone and rapidly dials a number.

"We're not far from Mami's house," Madoka offers as Sayaka makes the call. "I- maybe- you shouldn't go alone, Sabrina! You haven't even been a magical girl for an hour!" She wrings her hands, clearly distraught.

"Mami's coming," Sayaka says, putting away the phone. "She says she'll be here in a few minutes. Maybe we should go check it out first?"

You nod, firmly. "We'll go and look at it, but we won't get too near to it, ok? I'm inexperienced, and I wouldn't want you two getting in harm's way."

"Yeah!" Sayaka agrees enthusiastically, Madoka nodding her agreement.

You lead the way, probing with your senses. The second signature doesn't reappear, nor does the first move from where you'd initially sensed it.

The source comes into view as you round a corner. Glowing in the middle of an alleyway is a peculiarly geometric slit in reality, and you don't need Madoka's quiet gasp to identify it as the entrance to a Witch's labyrinth. The second signature is nowhere to be found; whatever, or whoever it is, must have gone inside.

[] Wait for Mami to arrive
[] Go in
- [] Bring Madoka and Sayaka with you
- [] Leave Madoka and Sayaka to wait for Mami

You seem to be the only one that thinks that way.

The whole point of our wish was to eliminate the negative effects of grief. If you wanted something else should have voted for that. We were explicitly going to get a hugely powerful wish by virtue of the OP. We basically were getting a wish just a notch below Madokami. You want a monkey's paw wish for some bizarre reason, but that's not what Kyubey does, and it's not what the GM wanted to do anyways as he's reiterated repeatedly.

I can't think of any good outcome to rushing in there.
If the small signature was someone who was Kissed, we may be able to save their life if we go in now. If it's Homura, waiting means out first encounters with her and Mami will probably happen at the same time and as such be much more complicated. On the other hand, we may end up getting our ass handed to us by a witch, but Mami's not that far out and she loves playing Big Damn Hero.

[x] Go in.

Something seems off about this. Besides, Witch barriers aren't always immediately hostile; with a bit of luck, we can observe without fighting it until Mami shows up.

So you want a Sailor Senshi in Puella Magi setings? :p

Edit: The whole seting of the Puella Magi universe is about balance too. Even Madoka turned into a witch in the end. Sure she nuked herself after that but she paid full prise - she nuked herself out of existence! So why should Sabrina get free pass on her wish? Not even a headache? If autor will do it - congratulation you have Marry Sue. :p
She will nuke Walpurgissnacht with Homura gawking and everyone will prise her and be happy.

So what balance are you proposing other then more entropy - if you by the Incubators excuse?

Would rather not die trying to save someone else, we're still new to this after all.

Madokami wasn't nuked out of existence at all. Her existence continuing is a big deal to the fact she takes Puellas to Puellahalla, and the whole plot of Rebellion.

Madoka became a goddess, not omnipotent no, but ridiculously far beyond mere mortals. She wasn't a witch at all in the final resolution.

The story definitely wasn't about balance. Entropy is balance. The entire plan by the incubators to defy entropy and heat death was all about breaking the balance of the universe. Every single wish was about upsetting the balance of energy in the universe.

The whole story was about taking the conventions of magical girl shows, inverting them and making it into horror, and then inverting them again to arrive at a happy ending. What's wrong with taking the happy ending part and moving it to the PC instead of Madoka's shoulders? In case you haven't noticed pretty much all quests are about winning. You rarely find a quest where the player character is remotely normal, primarily because it's boring.

Also the term Mary Sue is horribly misused. To qualify everyone has to immediately like the character, in addition to the godlike powers. That first characteristic is definitely not going to be satisfied for a long time. Possibly never depending on how much we have to deal with crazy magical girls and how the incubators view our disruption of their energy farm.

Plus I expect that with us disrupting the status quo that's existed for so long there will be repercussions echoing across the normal world as well. There will be more noticeable magical girl activity if they don't have to worry about their grief consumption as much. What happens when a magical girls commit an act of vigilantism on our dime and get caught on camera phones and the incubators aren't inclined to clean up the issue for us in favor of widening their experiment? What happens when people try to rationalize magical girls into their existing worldview? Or catch them for experimentation/interrogation?

If we're getting a high power wish then the goal shouldn't be just to save a couple lives along the stations of canon. It should be to add antigravity and lasers to the train and find the Northwest Passage from the Indian Ocean.
