point of order, dunno if this has been addressed already, but doesn't DS also give bonuses to war on our territory?
Yes.

Divine Stewards
Through the blessings of the spirits and the efforts of the People, the land is reshaped, and its management and protection is a good above all others. No effort is to great when it comes to the stewardship of the land.
Pros: Bonuses to all actions relating to land management, bonuses when fighting on own terrain, additional Econ and Stability whenever completing a land management type Megaproject, may spend Stability to double the effort of megaprojects and in defensive wars
Cons: Additional strife caused by deliberate environmental disruption unless it is for the long term betterment of the land, or loss of territory to others

We need votes to put Offensive ahead again. Defensive isn't really that useful right now based on what it actually does.

Sure fighting defensive is a solid plan but the policy just doesn't work like we need it too.

Do you think we can send Black Birds to assassinate their officers and break the chain of command?

Have we learned Guerilla Warfare yet? We should try to get that someday, it fits perfectly with our forests and hills.
I'm not sure which war if it was the Hathyn or HK but we were using Blackbirds to assassinate enemy commanders/elite warriors at night when they were sleeping in their villages.

*applies burn heal to thread*

Let's all just chill now. Plan for the next move or fun speculations.

Like what we're gonna do if we win the war.

Make a shrine with a mural of Crow suplexing one of their gods? How does a crow suplex something you ask? Well we're gonna have to win the war to find out.

Hathatyn war, just before Salty HatMan.

Actually, more pointedly, she noticed just how old her father seemed at this moment. Over sixty now, most days he remained the vigorous warrior and leader of men, but in this moment he was a lost old man, filled with regret and lacking direction.

Rulwyna nodded and said to him, "The rainy season comes soon anyway, the campaigning season will end and it will be up to the Blackbirds to do the fighting for the rest of the year anyway."

Anyhow, Sivantic may have made a debate faux-pas that may have been rather...agitating to many of us but seeing as how they're unlikely to correct it or change their mind soon, let's just give them the benefit of the doubt that it is the lack of sleep affecting them and devolve back into more friendly chatter. After all, AN closed the vote so we would stop the arguments. :)

Soooo...who wants to talk about crow masks?!

Except what part of this is baseless? The part where we correctly stated that Defensive does absolutely nothing to address the TH or the Nomads? The part where we pointed out that mercenaries are treacherous SOBs, ours notwithstanding? The part where we pointed out Hatvalley was the only conflict zone to really benefit from fortifications? The part where it's better for us to war outside our territory as much as possible to avoid DS procs?

I'm genuinely curious- because while it's valid to disagree with the Offensive arguments, calling them baseless is absolutely moronic.
The part where people pushed that defensive would mean zero effort would be put into pushing them away. The part where people kept saying that defensive was laying down and taking it.

The arguments before the last hour were fine. But it is the last push that was completely fearmongering. That is why I said fearmongering wins the day.

You were the most badly fearmongering, don't try and play it off.

I have nothing to play off, for I did not fearmonger. I am warning you. I do not take insults to my honour lightly. It is twice now that you have insulted me. First you accuse me of fearmongering and now you not only continue it, but you are accusing me of acting in a rather dishonest manner. Please accept the hand of peace that you have been dealt or go to sleep. I am not putting up with your insults any further.

I have to admit the policy vote was probably one of the most contentious votes we have had in a while.
something something tax mk 1.
On another note, hindsight regrets: Wish we hadn't misunderstood the meaning of 'community health' and gone for balance of interests instead- would have helped out the lowest of our society much more, i think

I'd say you should probably drop it or take it to PMs before the thread gets locked over shit again.

And yeah. One option was certainly probably better than the other, but as usual we'll probably never know which was.

Is it just me, or have people started doing the weird thread role-play stuff earlier and earlier?
A lot of it is when certain people meet. Bungie, Max, me, VoidZero and Sivantic at least have RP identities (represented by our profile pics). It's an anti-salt tonic. You can't be salty while training wheat to make the very BEST whiskey after all... or when *BLAM*ing Kyuubey... or when proclaiming the values of the flock.

Hmm... @Academia Nut what sort of bonus would the Law have given with other philosophies and tax systems? (Assuming i'm right to think that it boosting infrastructure was due to the Community Health choice and/or the labor choice)?

Things that I am tempted to choose in the next update:
Watchtowers
Mercenary Company
Aqueduct (Redshore)
New Trails
Study Metal
Poppies

Not sure what the best combination is.

Also fairly irritating as the thread has enough on topic stuff to read through without wading through that as well.
Sorry, but it's one of the things that make the salt bearable. OTOH, you can definitely get by with smart skipping in this thread. If it's been 30 pages since an update, just:
  1. Read the update
  2. Search and read all AN
  3. Search for a couple analysis guys you like (Bungie, veekie and notgreat for me)
  4. Check the latest tally
That's all you need to contribute intelligently. I mean, feel free to read more if you want. But sometimes I just don't have time for that. Wife, kid, job, kayaking... RL adds up for all of us. ;)

FOUND IT!!!

So I was looking for a song that will fit our situation and the war that is happening and this song is perfect for how we feel about this.

We want peace but if they want a fight then we are going to bury them.

You make me sad :p

...Just ignore the fact that my analysis usually comes way later, and focuses on numbers over suggestions and also has been getting way later and less extensive the last few updates as life distracts me more and more <.< >.>
