Thats a hefty losss of prestige and if you think the Khemetri would leave us alone when we already capitulated is naive.
That's a rational response. It's ultimately a small amount of land and nowhere near our most productive.
But this a late Bronze/ Early Iron age geopolitical landscape. I suspect it's like prison rules. Once they see that one guy took your place in line or your cornbread or whatever, then everybody will be looking to walk all over you. It's sort of represented by losing our King of the Hill status
Do you really think the Not! Egyptians will stop with just us giving way? Especially with a Weak Causus Belli?
Why not hire out all the mercs *and* double main raise army on offensive policy? What stops us?Don't hire out all the mecenaries because next turn we should go for a double main riase army to use as a mercenary group and offensive policy would help recoup the lost martial.
How do you interpret this statement? You might want to wait on the AN answers to that that people have asked. Assuming that kinda thing can be badly rash ya know.
We are currently making 3 net wealth per turn and are at capped wealth, before several overflows. If we are going to go to war with the most powerful civilization around, don't risk our entire civilization to save 2-5 wealth.[X] [Diplo] Hire out Trelli mercenaries (3 companies available)
-[X] Two Companies (-2 Wealth/turn)
Two companies will give us plenty of elite troops without letting us dip into the negative, wealth-wise.
Why do we care about prestige beyond allowing subordinates?
And the contest is specifically about colonizing unclaimed lands, IIRC.
It is still up in the air whether it is even our land and not unclaimed that we both want to get.
Yes, because this is specifically contested colonization + dick measuring contest, not defensive war for actually our lands.
This is defensive war.[] [KotH] Give way (-13 Prestige, -2 Stability, small amount of territory loss, all civs that had the 'Take the Crown CB' gain 'Weak' CB for the next 3 turns)
So, you really do think if we give way here, they won't try to take hatvalley in 2 turns, the n our core after that? I say you're crazy. Why do we care about prestige beyond allowing subordinates?

Double main creates a 10 martial mercenary company which I want to use as well and having 5 companies is too much for our wealth. Why not hire out all the mercs *and* double main raise army on offensive policy? What stops us?
Actually yeah you have a good point we have been giving the slavers a little too much leeway for my tastes. I guess it's time to hammer them and show them that maybe they don't want to be near us.I don't feel comfortable letting another slaving nation just take free shots at us without fighting back. This isn't machismo, it's important for cultural values as well. The Trelli are barely tolerated while they hang out over there and we were already gearing up to have to hit them. Now these guys finally work they way up here? Nah, hell with that.
Skimming over the wikipedia page, it doesn't actually look that appealing...unless i'm misreading it, it sounds like it drastically reduces the power of the central government? Hell, at one point its compared to feudalism, with the caveat that in a mandala system, the subordinates are more independent.
Also, can you confirm that this means that right now we've got +3 progress per turn, from the free passive infrastructure policy + the one we chose that is doubled? And if we choose more passive policies to be infrastructure we'll get 2 progress/turn each? And if we use the active infrastructure policy, a total of two actions will be doubled from the law?New effects: player chosen Infrastructure policies doubled (one action only for active policies), one additional passive infrastructure policy always active (effect not doubled), -1 Wealth each turn.
Yes? They have enough room to expand; why would they push into contested territory if they didn't need to?Do you really think the Not! Egyptians will stop with just us giving way? Especially with a Weak Causus Belli?
Not during the population explosion, it isn't. And these aren't our mercs, we can stop hiring them later.
Except we already have amazing construction. We are industry focused Polity, we are going to be able to pump them out faster already.NOTE! If people want to fire more shots quicker, just produce more crossbows! Our warriors can split into groups where one reloads and another fires. Realize our advantage in production and population!
[] [CB] Simplify construction (-1 Wealth, -2 Tech)
Please note that that leaves us at -2 Tech and starts eating at our other stats.[X] [CB] Increase ease of reloading (-1 Wealth, -3 Tech)
