Guys, can we not change the policy to Offense against a heroic general? I'd much rather keep to defense and enjoy the benefits we get while on our own territory (and not be drawn out to the steppes and slaughtered). Against a hero unit our best bet is to hunker down.

We would loss stability if we chose defense instead of offensive. So i'm 50/50 on this issue.

It's too bad we won't have enough time to properly establish that new March in time before the heroic son attacks us. However it seems from the flavour text that the father is the better administrator in that he wants to wait and build up strength by absorbing other tribes while the son disagrees.

Defensive policy doesn't launch defensive wars, they only build walls and watch towers. If we build the mine, we'll only have 1 econ so they'll just expand econ until 3-4.

If we have offensive, they'll launch lots of war missions (which will inflict a lot of diplo, econ, and martial damage to them).

The [Main] Iron mine will provide the metal tools by the mid turn. This means our war missions will be ridiculously effective.

Apparently changing to Offense is enough to help the stallions and fulfill the obligation. Doing more sounds wise though.
Changing to Offense and spending all our econ means that we'll launch 5 actions' worth of War Missions. I really don't want to do that against two heroic generals...

Switching to Defense means that they'll just take 4x Expand Economy instead of getting more settlements (boosting our size multiplier)

Just wondering, why do this? Offense policy + Iron Mine means we get 5 war missions sent anyway, why add a sixth? Swapping in an Expand Economy or something so that we're not at 1 would be a lot safer.
edit: or study stars so that our people know we're checking on the gods while we start stealing all their weapons.

Well folks I leave this to you with good beliefs that you won't fuck up.

Checking back in a few hours! See ya!

Eh the nomads are currently divided and still regrouping so we'll start off having our provinces send off minor raids with the offensive policy while we open up the Iron Mine.

Having a secondary war mission means we get 2 main war missions, instead of less effective (separate) secondaries.

I support a defensive policy over an offensive one, mostly.

We're literally going against two heroes who are leading the same army.

But on the other hand, if we have iron weapons by the midturn we might mess 'em up so... *shrug*

probably synergy

Also HOLY SHIT ACUPUNCTURE

Why is everyone so exited about this?

We got more useless quackery. If anything, this is bad because it draws away resources from actually usefull attempts at curing stuff.

If it was naturopathy or herbology, stuff that actually occassionally works, I could understand. But accupuncture is 100% useless.

Hence, I would not use Study Health, we do not want to reinforce those delibating beliefs.

We get 3 main war missions instead of 2 main and 1 secondary.
However, the March is providing war missions too, which completely wrecks that assumption since we don't know how much they'll be sending.

@Academia Nut
Is Northern Blackriver vulnerable to the nomads, or is it protected by the March?

Stay the course guys, this way gives us Iron mid-turn, which means we'll actually be bringing it to bear on the Nomads in some way this very turn. Study Health should be obvious. Offensive is pretty much the only reasonable choice.

War Mission just to further support the ST here with 2 Main War Missions. There is fundamentally nothing we can do more important for this war than getting iron weaponry onto the field as soon as possible and in as many numbers as possible. We have to take a proactive posture here otherwise the ST will be hit harder than ever before.

Why? The ST have 5 fucking martial. They are goners if we don't actually try and help them. That's a risk of losing our vassal outright in addition to 1 stab. And for what? Cowardice? We can't simply sit inside the walls until they leave. Especially considering the goal is likely to still raze our northern ports. We can't afford to not contest them every single inch of the way, no matter how bloody that gets.

Is Northern Blackriver vulnerable to the nomads, or is it protected by the March?
The March is going to be way out of it's depth here and has far less martial than we do right now. We shouldn't make assumptions on them being able to hold their land, let alone new/recent settlements.

The law mega project double a secondary action, and us having a secondary war mission means one of our provinces can double our war mission for a main. What is the 3rd main war mission?

Also, i'm not sure what the Marches has to do with this because they aren't a province (and thus not affected by our policies).
