[x] [Honour] Quality training
Part of what made the Roman legions, Spartan armies and British New Model armies so powerful was discipline.
[x] [Mystic] Wait
We are in the cusp of something....
I want the shiny!!!
[x] [Goal] Humiliate (Hard, +1 Prestige)
Keeps our allies sated and shows them whose boss without going too far
[x] [Stallions] Focus efforts on the Thunder Speakers
We are winning at the moment, don't try to split your forces and lose the initiative, we can beat them quick if we do this

Creating a professional army raises problems of its own, though. Honestly, I'm leaning a little towards overwhelming numbers because human wave style warfare fits our insane population level pretty well, so long as we go to war sparingly.

@McLuvin

Problem is that the Nomads are sensing weakness and the Stallion tribe may be disgruntled if they are ordered to focus entirely on the Thunder Speakers while the Nomads raid their land with impunity.

guys? loyalty, should be our focus here, training and numbers will come in time, but complete loyalty is priceless

Honour: We've got bonus loyalty from Carrion Eaters, so we should get more training or numbers. And just personally, training is better.
Mystic: I'm unsure. I'm leaning slightly towards Evolve, but IDK. All 3 of our Spiritual values could do very nicely with some evolution, and it's not that expensive.
Goal: Keep allies happy, give us prestige, don't waste our admin hero doing only fighting his entire life.
Stallions: Need to fight them both off.

General
Diplomacy 9 [+1]
Economy 9
Martial 10

Stability
Stability 3 (emboldened)
Legitimacy 3 (max)

Organizational
Centralization 3
Hierarchy 6

Cultural
Art 14 (max, overflowing)
Mysticism 14 (max, overflowing)
Prestige 10 (+1 Subordinates)
Need to keep Art + Mysticism high to retain Golden Age, or at least I believe that this is what the ??? indicates.
but he had still been assigned to help take care of more than one of his new 'siblings', which while as a stupid young man had grated on him somewhat, but once he had grown up a bit more he had realized that he was just being an whiny idiot and of course he should have some responsibility for his own kids.
Mmk this is a bit uncomfortable...
Golden Age Started!
Requirements Discovered:
At least two stats maxed out, maximum stability
Benefits: +1 Prestige for first Golden Age, +1 Econ Expansion/turn, special sudden advancements possible
Ends with: 0 or lower stability, ???
Radical!! Worried about the ???, however.
What is most important on the battlefield? [Honour]
[] Overwhelming numbers
[] Quality training
[] Loyalty
I'm leaning toward Quality Training and Loyalty. Loyalty might stifle people's innovation if their leader is inferior; quality training risks us being fragile.

Actually, with the flourishing of arts and spiritual knowledge, there were a lot of new stories going around that might not be remembered by the shamans. New ideas were bubbling within the People, and while some probably needed to be sorted out, there was a palpable feeling that the People were on the cusp of something new and grand.

Mystic Advance possible! [Mystic]
[] Temper superstition (-5 Mysticism)
[] Overturn superstition (-10 Mysticism, -1 Stability)
[] Evolve spiritual value (-7 Mysticism)
[] Expand spiritual value slots (-7 Mysticism)
[] Wait
I frankly want to either Wait, Temper Superstition, or Evolve Spiritual Value.
Wait is the most likely to keep the Golden Age going, though this fear is based on the ??? which isn't strong evidence at all.
Temper Superstition is a low cost way to work toward solving our metal issue.
Evolve Spiritual Value is evolving a trait, which is literally always useful.
What is the objective of the fighting? [Goal]
[] Stop raids (Easiest, annoys allies)
[] Humiliate (Hard, +1 Prestige)
[] Degrade sphere of influence (Hardest, +1 Prestige, pleases allies)

Orders for the Stallions [Stallions]
[] Focus efforts on the Thunder Speakers
[] Split efforts between Thunder Speakers and nomads
[] Focus efforts on the nomads
Leaning toward Humiliate + Focus efforts on the nomads. Degrade sphere of influence will reduce the increased power of the Thunder faction, but will probably require us to ignore the nomad raids.
Provinces: [Main] Build Wall x2 - Blackmouth, [Main] Build Watchtowers - Redhills

Blackmouth has a double-mained wall.... holy molly. That's probably to get us the integrated watchtower... nope, not listed as a Military tech and I think we already had Early City Walls?

Edit: Temporary vote:
[X] [Honour] Quality training
[X] [Mystic] Evolve spiritual value (-7 Mysticism)
[X] [Goal] Degrade sphere of influence (Hardest, +1 Prestige, pleases allies)
[X] [Stallions] Split efforts between Thunder Speakers and nomads

-Quality training suits our meritocratic standard, though if even a single person argues for loyalty and how it suits our Symphony trait I might switch.
-We already know how to get back the Golden Age, so I'm pretty fine w/ evolving a spiritual value just to see if the ??? is that when the stats go below max we lose it. Evolving spiritual values seems like a more unpredictable task than overcoming the superstition, which should mostly just take repeated Study Metal + Stab-gain combos.
-I don't really agree w/ this goal, it's too aggressive, but they attacked us which irritates me.
-Deals w/ both north and TS.

Yeah but the Thunder Horse in the east could jump in at any time, they do that and we're fucked, end them quickly and then we stand a better chance

@tri2 The problem is that loyalty could possibly backfire - for example, the Romans often had soldiers who were very loyal to the generals leading them, and so would often depose the Emperor/Senate in favour of their general, e.g. Caesar, Year of the Five Emperors.

I wonder, with the familial ties between us and the HK, alongside us becoming increasingly more prestigious if we could firmly root the HK in our sphere of influence if we pushed this war hard and pleased them.

Because if we'd pull that off, we'd be a neighboring premier regional power that's going to offer a ton of benefit if they accept a light yoke.

Reasoning for evolve:We can evolve Observance, which will temper that nasty downside. Sure, it doesn't do jack for Weapon, but preventing/mitigating future nasty belief pickups is worth it's weight in gold.

Vassalize the Highland Kingdom? It's tempting...and if we do go for all in on the Thunder Speakers it sounds like Yehlmyn is gearing up to spend stability on a mained war mission. I think we could potentially crush them entirely.

Why temper the superstition when we can evolve a trait? It's probably going to be a while before we can evolve mystic traits again.

Given how Rome was fucked over by disloyal generals, I am tempted to go for loyalty...on the other hand, Symphony + Humility take care of that do a decent degree. Tentatively choosing loyalty for now.

The only thing I really know is that I want anti-metal superstition overturned as soon as possible. -1 Stability hit does not end the golden age, apparently (although negative stability does take that all you 'we don't need to high stability' folks), and metal is the key to getting gud. We already have other keys in hilariously good writing-related things for the era and food surplus.

And with indexing and library (for which we will go as soon as we can because, well, SV and library) we actually can pull off managing them in administrative ways. Of course, culturally we are radically different, so I am not really so sure about this.

@Academia Nut ,two questions:
1. Will tempering/removing superstition give us a chance to evolve the Observance?
2. Will choosing to evolve a spiritual value evolve a random one?
