I'd return Team Downfall's, too -- for self-interested reasons if nothing else. They aren't likely to be nearly strong enough to beat us in the tournament.

We currently have no info on whether or not this will backfire on us horribly, so lets just keep these ourselves?
 
Well, that one post definitely did not imply anything unpleasant.

Let's get more pessimistic, then. Three Mist squads cheated: Nonsense-1, Nonsense-2, and Nonsense-3, or NS-1, NS-2, NS-3 for short.

Event 2: They were given glowing seals in advance. It could go arbitrarily high really, but we'll assume that it's 200 per teammate.
Event 3: NS-1 placed right behind us (314 points), NS-2 and NS-3 right behind ISC (298).
Event 4: They were given full information on all contestants. Team Kurenai has "highest scoring individual" at "more than 200", so they received 299 for this event.

NS-1 had 200+314+299 = 813 points, NS-2 and NS-3 had 797 points.

Our E5R1 team didn't include anyone from Mist; let's assume Shikamaru's Blue Team included NS-1. NS-2 was on Blue, NS-3 was on Red.

For E5R2, NS-3 was with us, NS-1 was with Team Kurenai, NS-2 was with nobodies. During R2, they were not imprisoned. Penalties for injures carry over.

We have 466 points currently.
NS-1 has 813+320-(6x25+3x30) = 893 points.
NS-2 has 797-225-495 = 77 points.
NS-3 has 797-495+140 = 442 points.

We're still in the tournament. If we're not in the tournament... well, I'd be very interested in how that happened. I don't think Mist would've allowed any non-Mist team receive such scores without calling them out (like they did with Leaf and Team Gensou), and there's only ten Mist contestants left. We didn't have any Mist teammates in R1, NS-1/NS-2/NS-3 describe best possible configurations for E5 for Mist.

@MMKII, @faflec, can you see any way we could've still failed?

Because I think doing any "Post Event 5 " stuff was with the specific mindset that we didn't have to otherwise come up with some crazy scheme to do more stuff in the exams. Thats a bit in doubt. Also we have like, 12 hours and change left to plan.

These are independent:

The vote is for what we retroactively do to the word halves.

The plan component is what we do with them after the event.

Bumping the "Really Competent Pile of Lucky Ninja" Squad score to like 900 (so adding 250 wholesale points to that already wacky estimate) leaves us in the clear. Assuming everyone was truthful to us about their placement and Shika was right.

I honestly don't know.

If other people are voting not to give them, I'll vote to give them. If the reverse is true, I'll do it the other way around. We don't have enough information to judge, so it's best to keep the votes close.
 
Yes, I think we need to wait for the scores, or at least answers to my question. In the meantime...

At this point, we're in the tournament or we're not, pretty much. It's rather likely we are, but crazy schemes won't really avail us at this point. Just not giving away our word halves should ensure we're fine, though.
 
We could always just leave it up to the QMs whether we give half-words away or not, dependent on how firmly we are in the tournament by Keiko's estimation?
 
I'm removing the word half stuff from the main plan anyway.

We can't do anything more with the word halves in our favor short of breaking down doors and searching people's rooms in the barracks.

I made edits anyway but honestly I'm more comfortable with a Lore Update

1)I left open the possibility of familial interactions to Nobby and Keiko.
2) Two days is reasonable for tying up some loose ends I think

With all this done, I think we would be ready for training.

  • Everything in crimson requires Jiraiya's approval in some form.
    • He can make suggestions and criticism of his own.
    • Talk in Summoning Realm only:ASAP
    • Tell Keiko with handsignals.
  • Spend ~2 days in Mist, then go back to Leaf.
  • Ask Jiraiya for someone to shadow us while we're in the village
    • Failing that, do not get separated
  • Strict OPSEC is to be maintained.

Naruto:
  • This is a long shot
    • Check plausibility with Keiko beforehand
  • Do you have a blood sample?
  • Can you sign a summon contract for him in absentia?
    • Have toads reverse summon him immediately after signing.
    • This might buy some time.
  • Hazou et all treat this portion with the highest level of paranoia and OPSEC.

Yakuza:

  • We should thank the Oyabun for his assistance so far.
  • Try to meet a lieutenant or leave a message for Oyabun failing that.
    • This is a relationship we want to continue.
    • Consider getting another present a la Pangolin carving.
  • Ask him politely to have his agents spread rumours of our flawless victory in Event 5 throughout bars and taverns in Water.
    • Intent: Pre-empt the nations rumour mil to our advantage. Build up our general fame and notoriety. Lay the foundation for further such manipulations.
    • Polite observation: It would be beneficial to both of us in this relationship if we were ninja of great repute.
    • Pay them with a portion of the (unused) explosives we received from Kagome.
  • Jiraiya helps us word everything correctly.
Families:
  • Suggest everyone spend some time with families if they wish to.
    • Don't press if they do not wish to.
      • Hazou treats this with the sensitivity it deserves.
        • They are as sensitive to this as he is to people insulting his mother.
        • Be extra sensitive to Keiko.
  • Hazou spends time with Hana
    • Talk about everything! Opsec sanitized.
    • Talks about and asks for honest advice on Akane thing
  • Start to assemble Kagome's birthday gift
    • A book of all the things he's taught us.
    • Suggest to Jiraiya: Maybe turn some of the basement space into a fancy sealing lab too?
    • Bring back Mist cuisine (as much as we can) + cookbooks?
    • Some nice and exotic wood for carving?
Misc:
  • Apologize to Nakano for the rough treatment
    • Tell him: We'll get him a medic in Leaf
    • Invite him to next board game night
  • Team Uplift has a short conversation with Team Downfall
    • Do in barracks with friendlies on overwatch
