Mine was deadly serious. When you begin to consider the nature of the relationship between sealcrafting and the Kaballah, in particular with regard to sealing failures and the Qliphoth, you will realise that the question of Kagome's Jewishness could potentially be of critical importance.
If your tongue was any further in your cheek, it'd be coming out the other side.

Wow, this conversation really blows, and now Kagome's blubbering. I know we have time to krill before the next chapter, but could Jonah-t, please?

It's not too late to get in some whale puns, right? You mentioned kaballah, no take-backs.

Unless we go with the Faflec Hypothesis, and the sealing failure has warped your perception of writing about sealing failures.
I long ago concluded that, while it is possible that I am in fact a giant slug in stationary orbit around Alpha-Centauri, there is no point in considering the possibility.

Whales. Eels. Ocean creatures. Tidal pools. Waves. Wavy. Yeet. Power. Ultralight Beam. Nightlight seal. Leaky chakra.

Oh fuck yeah!

Quick analysis of the fight:
  • Sakura has some interesting genjutsu: she tricked Kiba into thinking a Water Clone was about to hit him (visual genjutsu) and made Shino think his bugs just got borked. I'm not 100% on how the swarm is connected to Shino but it sounds like they share pain to some extent, and Sakura managed to override it. Well done, girl.
  • Haru is a Taijutsu-focused Lighting Release user who can apparently use Killing Intent (now that's interesting). Has some control issues but not as bad as other Genin we know *cough*Kiba*cough*.
  • The team, overall, is scarily focused on close quarters, but Akane and Haru have some ability to influence farther ranges (Haru has Killing Intent; Akane has Macerators and Hotaru).
  • Mari-sensei has apparently been giving Sakura some Genjutsu tips, and I wonder if it'd be at all likely for her to have taught Haru her lighting-on-ninja-wire technique. That would give him some ability with ninja wire and/or traps, which Sakura apparently enjoys.
As for numbers...
  • We really need to focus on our team's Alertness (prev. Awareness); our team was built with TacMove/Athletics but that's no longer being used for initiative, which is pretty useful.
  • Holy fucking shit Akane is strong as balls. 40 base die when Hinata has 32 and Kiba has 24? What the fuck!?
  • Shino has 29 die and Haru has the same. Sakura's genjutsu has 29 as well which is bad for her since she can't actually beat anyone with it.
Yeah, from the looks of it Kiba sucks and Shino has to carry his weight. Hinata's about average with the other clan kids which says a lot about her capabilities relative to what she's been offered.

Really want Mari-sensei to teach Haru the lightning-on-ninja-wire jutsu; maybe we could vote that in for the next update?

She didn't have the time to check, because just as she was about to re-engage Hyūga the world went dark. A sleeting, buzzing cloud of insects swarmed over Akane's body, pushing into her ears and nose and trying to get into her eyes and mouth. The erstwhile member of Team Uplift fought down panic and forced herself not to yell in fear. She slitted her eyes, swiped at her face to clear the bugs away, and jumped back away from the Gentle Fist strike that she knew was about to wreck her if she didn't get out of the way.

How did I never notice that Shino is Weaver????
Out of the way Gōketsu, we got the new protagonist right here.

Haru twisted, turning his hips and pulling down with chakra adhesion as he smashed the studs on his buckler deep into the bones of his enemy's hit.

Typo? 'His enemy's hit'?

eaglejarl did say in the rolls section that Akane's using numbers from the old system and her totals in the new one will likely be lower. Point about Kiba though, Hinata's the heir to a clan focusing on Taijutsu and is by all accounts very good at it as a result, but Haru has Taijutsu 26 and Kiba was attacking with his best moves so either the Inuzuka have some tricky XP sinks or Kiba's pretty lackluster as far as clan heirs go.

On another note, I think that once we're back to Konoha we should look into getting (civilian) tutors in civil engineering, etc.

Both Hazou and us could use an idea of what things he could improve as far as the civilian lifestyle goes, other than, say, Water Purification seals.

Or maybe he doesn't want to show off his aces to potential Chunin Exam rivals. IIRC Kiba used Soldier Pills to boost his combat skill in canon, and Kiba probably has more than just that.

Is it really in Kiba's nature to be subtle? His aspects and the fact that he fought till he was fairly injured suggest that he went all out. Also team Kurenia jobbed to Team Goketsu. So not surprising that Akane and co smashed them.
