    • We should be proactive: promise cooperation and share our training optimizations[1] with Naruto in exchange for benefits, such as retaining first priority on chakra.
      1. IC representations of our spreadsheet work; it's presumably highly valuable and took significant effort and trial-and-error.
    • This would strengthen our negotiating position. Naruto would be buying an S-ranker-making trick, not just bribing Noburi to stay home.
    • Mari, you're on it. Do it after we leave, so that Naruto has to deal with you.
      • You have carte blanche for extracting maximum benefits. Feel free to drive a ruthlessly hard bargain
        • Avoid alienating Naruto

        • Latter is a smaller ask, and they are probably more inclined to do favors for Hazou (Post-Crusade).
        • Former is better for us, although it has problems, Naruto is likely to want maximal access to Noburi.
        • There are advantages too, Noburi has better social skills so having him take point might help Fukusu and Shima agree.
      • Kei, if you're joining the mission, you can still go hunt chakra beasts with Yuno first. Just join us afterwards
        • Noburi, you could go with them too. It's been a while since your last combat mission.

  • Call Mari over, give her a brief overview of the situation
    • Keep in mind Naruto excluded her for a reason, stick to the public story
    • Hazo will be going on a research trip. He may be gone for a while.
    • Give Mari advance notice about the talking points Hazo will raise tomorrow morning, then go to bed.
  • In the morning, call for an advisory meeting. Top secret. Mari, Kei, Snowflake, Noburi. Kagome will have to miss the start of the meeting for OPSEC reasons.
    • Naruto has almost certainly discovered WOOSH. We'd like to get what value out of the concept that we still can.
      • We are willing to share our training optimizations[1] with Naruto.
        1. IC representations of our spreadsheet work; it's presumably valuable and took significant effort and trial-and-error.
      • Noburi is key. If they're gonna use him, we'd like to make them pay for the pleasure.
      • This is good for leaf, but bad for the Goketsu. Mari, we want you to treat this like a trade deal, keep it as exclusive and valuable for the Goketsu as possible.
        • Given the urgency of the rift race, we are more interested in immediate gains
    • Kagome should join us now, as we discuss the research mission.
      • We've complained about Akatsuki stealing our research, Naruto understands.
      • Naruto forbid us from dimensionalism, as that would antagonize Akatsuki
      • We are going to leave leaf to work on other projects. We'll need time, space and privacy to get anything meaningful done.
        • We can do most of our research on the 7th path. Need to meet Noburi there regularly for Chakra refills, messenger duty.
        • We'd like to work closely with Kagome and Kei on these projects. 7th path meetings critical for logistics to work.
        • We might technically be capable of doing the mission alone on human path with only 7th path support, but that feels unwise. For safety and secrecy reasons, summoner support would be ideal. We're asking,not demanding, Kei and Kagome to join us.
          • Kei's training plan suggests she may need to do a combat mission soon anyways. This could fit.
          • While we would be staying at research location, others could possibly travel to/from leaf, security/risk assessment needed. Likely won't be a short trip.
      • Noburi, you're the expert for this next part, we'll defer to you.
        • We'd like if all of the above 7th path meetings could take place in toad.
        • We want to get additional training from the toad sages.
        • They have knowledge of lore and chakra that could be critical for our research projects
        • We also think there are massive benefits to being able to use nature chakra.
          • We'd like Hazo, Noburi, Kei to learn how to use it
          • It could synergize extremely well with Noburi's bloodline, and summoning in general
    • Noburi remains acting clan head while we are away, but we recommend delegating to Mari and Gaku for the day-to-day.
    • Anything else before we begin packing?


    • Bonus Just for EJ: Go meet up with the toads as per Noburi's suggestions. Need to figure this out before finalizing 7th path research/meeting location. Write what you want. Oops now its > 500 words

I mean, that's a pretty good argument. If it's an EJ update then we could also do your plan but only the second scene. Maybe I'll make that plan too if I have time before voting closes

    • So why are we choosing to be maximally adversarial to the hokage that we burnt our clan down to get elected? That seems weird? Especially when the dude is actually handing out the goods already?

    Bruh when we let Mari off the leash for financial/inter-clan shit we get the bank run, or other horrible deals. She's explicitly not good at knowing how hard to hit various targets, how much she can abuse a particular trick. Telling her 'weapons free' is actual literal treason, as it's turning one of the world's best I&S specs against our own Village.

    So uh. Also. This trip is about building cool weapons and tricks for Leaf to use against akatsuki. What is Naruto going to think about us extorting every last single bit of value out of this S rank trick? At best? 'Greedy fucks'. At worst, 'poser worried about ability to actually make new relevant weapons'.

    No more meetings about meetings about going missing please. This update we have a meeting with NPCs informing them of our plans, then another meeting with those same NPCs to plan another meeting, then that final meeting where hopefully the Toads will say "sure we'll teach you. Hope you don't die. That it?".

    Abduct our Technique Hacking teacher with Kagome, leave a note mostly justifying ourselves to Naruto and our expected location for the next 6 months as well as a list of dead drop locations, then GTFO.

    IIRC, the bank run had pretty much nothing to do with Mari. The idea to issue Gouketsu scrip was ours, the idea to start subsuming the Leaf economy using it was ours, and it was our fault that we didn't put in any good anti-forgery measures nor cautioned the characters that "just print more money" isn't a good solution to any financial problem. Which all allowed the Unknown Conservative Schemer to sow FUD and precipitate the bank run.

    Mari's related financial scheme was using our ability to print currency to commit to contracts totaling 1 billion ryo in order to buy out the whole chocolate supply on the continent, and that was indeed a very risky play, but I think it... basically... went fine? Notably, her thinking wasn't "we have infinite money now", it was some more complicated scheme that was intended to dissolve the whole issue.

    It doubtlessly significantly contributed to the scrip being undercollateralized, but the undercollateralization was part of a consistent policy on our part, not the result of any particular scheme of Mari's.

    ... or at least that's roughly how I remember it. @faflec, any glaring flaws here?

    Regardless, my recollection definitely doesn't agree that Mari has a consistent problem with overplaying her hand. If anything, I'd say she has the opposite problem (which is why I wanted to encourage her to go big in this instance).

    I recall we did caution people not to act like it was infinite money but it probably wasn't a strong enough caution under the circumstances- any opening at all would have been exploitable, and a bunch of first-timers (including Hazopilot) are unlikely to figure out exactly where to draw the line even if they're all trying to be a bit careful.
     
    There was a bit of a chilling effect when we started talking about the scrip and how badly it could go, but I'd rather not relitigate that.
