Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

@Magoose Just a couple of things...
How many turns do we have to wrap up the Pre-Production of the Batman?
The Batman Production (Currently in Preproduction):
And what has happened with getting animators from Japan?
[]Animators for the New Regime (Japan): You want to expand the stable of animators that are in your employ, and who better to look for than in the Land of the Rising Sun DC: ???

And Mary continues the O'Brian Tradition of so much lifesaving and other fun things.

[]Mary O'Brian is being the most precious thing (The Unknown roll that is next turn gets another roll bonus)
[]Robin Williams cleans up with greater intensity (Robin only needs to pass one roll to be clean)
[]Robin Helps Bruce get ready to kick so much ass. (Robin gives Bruce a +20 to his boxing rolls)
How many turns do we have to wrap up the Pre-Production of the Batman?
It happens automatically, in September, where we must spend 4 actions per turn in the production of Batman.
And what has happened with getting animators from Japan?
getting animators from either America or Japan is a once-a-year thing, and you got your animators from America. I thought I already answered this question.

Not really, I am pretty sure you didn´t tell us anything... Most of us were under the impression that we could do one action the previous turn and we could take the other this turn.

Otherwise, we would have taken both actions at the same time the previous turn...

Then I will apologize for not explaining it clearer when the question was asked.

And its only temporary.

because once the first animation film is done, I will open the floodgates for all sorts of fun stuff.

I would cheerfully get into the ring against Mohammad Ali in his prime if it meant having Robin Williams live a longer healthier life. I also think I would not be alone in the world to happily make that choice. Or even in this Quest.

Somebody else please write A boxing Omake. Robin is too important to loose

Thanks for giving us a chance at a better world @Magoose

We can just say that it's what the inhabitants of Hoth look like and that the members of the Rebellion at Hoth are primarily those from Hoth.
I literally just said that like twenty minutes.
Actually, I have already come up with a rather good reason for that. Remember that the Rebels are evacuating Hoth during the beginning of the film, and we can easily just handwave it, that many of those people are staying in the defense just the local forces that are staying to protect their home, while everyone else evacuates.

Alright then, for the Batman story I made a summary. one of the things that I think would like to try anc ahcnge is trying to make it a dual perspective; showing both Batman, and Jim Gordon's point of views during the entire film, that way we can showcase both sides from the beginning and their journey through the cesspool of corruption that is Gotham. Not saying that we remove the scenes or Point of views of the other characters, but I think it's going to be obvious that they are Deuteroginists in the movie.

What do you guys think? Is there anything that should be changed or added?

@Magoose Since we only have 10 actions this turn does that mean that it's only going to be one month as per usual? And we have til September to do all of Batman pre-production?

I can live with this. The American Animator action was something that was heavily necessary because Disney was going to go through with a massive hiring spree thanks to the success of War of the Worlds. Meanwhile, Japan should be roughly on track for OTL besides Gundam being super mega huge and most of the Greats have yet to enter into the business so we should be fine.

Yep. We are now back to regurally actioned turns with one month per.
Red Dawn as a Lucasfilm production? I love it.
Still one of the best movies of the 1980's.

And no, its not because it was one of the first pg13 movies i ever snuck into the movie player to watch while my parents were out of town with my brothers and friends, why do you ask :V

Honestly I'm pretty happy with everything that you did for The Batman and don't think we have to pick the script option as a success with Kathleen would probably keep it pure, but if that's how you feel then I might be willing to throw an option for that. I guess it just depends on if we delay for a month on the script action if it's gonna have any major changes.

[]Choosing a Co-Star: You don't have enough pull to cast everyone, but you have enough pull for one person. Hopefully.
-[]Write in who you wish to cast and for what part.

[]The Way to Shoot: You want to shoot the film your way, and you will do it:
-[]Ambitious: You are going to use your skill and that of the cinematographers that you have. Everyone knows you have a mind of action movies, so you will use that to keep things fluid, but clear.
-[]Conservitive: You don't have any pull… but you know you can make friends with other people by not taking any risks.
-[]Experimental: Fuck it, throw everything out the window! We are doing something weird.

So these two are pretty important for Batman. For Co-Star choice, the four characters who we should use this on is Jim Gordon, Sarah Essen, Deadshot and Carmine Falcone. I really like Overmind's choices for Gordon as Selleck or Eastwood would make for great fits for Gordon, although organically there isn't much of a reason why Bruce would pick Selleck since I don't think they've ever met. Working with Clint would be cool, Selleck has Magnum PI coming up so he doesn't necessarily need a Super Boost and Clint doesn't have any conflicts. Plus the chemistry would be amazing with the two's existing relationship.

Another cool choice could be John Travolta as Deadshot. We haven't done a movie with John yet and this would be a great A-list role that would also help him to break typecasting. Only issue is John's lack of action experience, but considering his usual dedication and amazing work in choreography I think we can train him well.

So I guess that's who I want to do the casting action on. Either Clint as Gordon or John as Deadshot.

As for ways to shoot, definitely don't want to do Experimental cause we're on thin ice and it's not our studio so best to leave that kind of stuff for a Lucasfilms production. Divided between ambitious and conservative, would prefer conservative but we might have enough skill to make ambitious awesome.

Lucasfilms Unlimited Actions:

[]To translate Gundam: You need to Translate Gundam. (Begin a Casting Miniturn for Gundam, so that it will be able to be translated and ready for its release)
-[]Trust in Tomino (You trust Tomino to gather a cast for his show)

[]The Media Blitz of Conan The Barbarian: You are looking at the media list that Mike put up. "Alright, who's first?" He said. (Linetail what you want to do next) DC: ???

Lastly in terms of the Lucasfilms actions, what's your guys opinion on casting for Gundam and do we need to do another Media Blitz for Conan or can we take a break?

Gundam will have a miniturn for casting.
Magoose I need some help with direction. What's a mythological figure you'd like to see a movie about?
If you must ask me... I always wanted to see a real film about Odin, Thor and Loki. not marvel but based on the Edda.

Seeing Odin as the wise king, Thor as the hothead who does the impossible... and Loki being loki.

I think the idea has merit.

We talked about Vicki Vale being a love interest before, didn't we? Or are we not really feeling that anymore?

As a sidenote, you set up the Riddler as a villain in your script, but what kind of Riddler were you thinking of? Just curious.

Thought I'd put up this excellent song for anyone who wants to listen to something topical.

Working with Clint would be cool, Selleck has Magnum PI coming up so he doesn't necessarily need a Super Boost and Clint doesn't have any conflicts.
We miss out on that Clint Eastwood Jonah Hex movie if we do this though, so maybe casting someone else would have merit.

...Now I want to make a Rugrats pitch that starts with an Omake of Bruce getting inspired to make it from watching Mary and George Jr just babbling nonsense to each other.

We need to prepare for Ali and I also think working out could also help. I don't know about the other 8 actions. How much we'll put in Batman, how many in LucasFilm Unlimited etc.

In addition, I'm also starting to develop an idea for a Luke Cage script, with either Michael Clark Duncan or Keith David in the leading role, with someone like Pam Grier as the leading lady. Main antagonist I still haven't decided.
...And a cameo from a fan named Nicolas Coppola, a soon to be famous child actor from Conan the Barbarian.

Too ambitious?

Ooof, I can try I suppose. Actual Norse mythology is cool but I ain't read anything since high school. About most of what I remember is the horse thing with Loki and Thor twiddling his beard.

[]Look at the Script: You want to look at the Script, and make changes, or rather, prevent Colombia from changing it. DC: 50
-[]If you want to change the script, write in below.
[]The Art of a True Batman: You look at the costume designs and how the City will be transformed into Gotham City. DC: 30
[]Keeping Kathleen Cool: Kathleen is about to lose her mind, and you need to calm her down before anything happens, like her making a rash decision regarding the script. DC: 20
[]To translate Gundam: You need to Translate Gundam. (Begin a Casting Miniturn for Gundam, so that it will be able to be translated and ready for its release)
-[]Trust in Tomino (You trust Tomino to gather a cast for his show)
[]Finding Producers: Mike wants to bring more talent into the Company to work on more films of a lower budget variety than the blockbuster films that you all are producing. Mostly young talent, so he's asking you to scour Hollywood for the ideas. DC: ???
[]Finding Directors: You should not have opened your mouth, but now you have been asked to look for directors to hire. DC: ???
[]Family Time: You enjoy every minute of this… Except for this part. "Honey, I am not putting on the fairy wings. It's your turn." DC: 30
[]The Media Finally Getting what it Deserves: You are going to threaten to sue the magazines that are trying to get unauthorized pictures of your family… maybe it will make them stop, and get other actors on your side. DC: 40
[]Preparing for Ali: You are going to fight Ali as the best you can be. And it will be because he is clearly deserving it. DC: 0
[]Robin's Need for Help: You look at Robin and realize he was doing better. "Hey bud, feeling better?" DC: 40

So these are the twelve actions which I think should take priority. The bottom four are an absolute must to be a present Dad in the midst of all of this craziness and show that work will never get in the way of our love for Carrie and Mary. Get the media to fuck off because if they literally broke into our house to take pictures right next to where Mary is sleeping they need to get taken down before the paparazzi become British levels of assholeness. Prepare for Ali to prep for the big fight. And help Robin because it's important.

As for the Lucasfilms and Batman actions, it's all important, I guess it's a matter of which two do we think we don't need to do this turn. Since our guys are taking breaks, Mike does have a point in that we do need more Producers and Directors to keep up with the other studios instead of just four per year. Translating Gundam is important so we can begin its launch as a mainstream American franchise.

For Batman, three most important are helping Kathleen, doing the camera style and deciding the art look for Batman. Script changes and ways to shoot aren't necessary since I think we got all that's needed and if we support Kathleen then she can help keep the vision pure.

From what actions to get rid of, I guess it's co-star, script writes, or some of the Lucasfilms stuff to just delay for a month though that might make Mike upset.

We talked about Vicki Vale being a love interest before, didn't we? Or are we not really feeling that anymore?

It seems like Overmind decided to focus on no romance for Bruce and instead have Sarah Essen be the leading female character. Probably for the best since it's extremely hard to do a Vicky story right without copying Superman and Lois or just having Vicky be shallow. Sarah works better because she's a competent cop whose Jim's equal and is actively working to save the day and for Bruce we can just focus on his romance with Selina in one of the sequels and show the beginning of his being torn between being Batman and being happy.

We miss out on that Clint Eastwood Jonah Hex movie if we do this though, so maybe casting someone else would have merit.

Oh yeah I completely forgot about Hex. Gotta be fair to Moon, so I guess John Travolta as Deadshot?

...Now I want to make a Rugrats pitch that starts with an Omake of Bruce getting inspired to make it from watching Mary and George Jr just babbling nonsense to each other.

"Awww, look at them babbling and being cute friends."
"And so then I nearly gave Uncle Robin a heart attack by dousing myself in flour and making him think I took cocaine. Funniest shit I've ever seen."
"Listen Mary, if we want Star Wars to evolve we have to bring in technophobic Aztecs who exist outside of the Force and kill Chewbacca."

If we owned Marvel I'd be down for it but I don't trust Marvel to independently produce a good Cage movie. Maybe a Cage series?

A WIP
[Name WIP]

The first act focuses on the Chosen Champions, each the best of their faction, alongside the two rival researchers and the Prince/Princess. Focuses a bit more on slice of life with the many different personalities interacting with each other, and sometimes clashing, while they all try and do their best to prepare for the upcoming threat that led to their group's formation.

Characters

The two scientists: They are both full characters in their own right. Both sharp academic minds whom play a key role in the prep work, one digging into relics of the past to find the lost knowledge of Golden Age magitech lost in a feud, and the other pushing the boundary of explosive projectiles, making what can be recognized as early guns.

The Rancher: An unlikely member. A very skilled Goat Rider whom has taken very well to the experimental equipment, but highly self-conscious about his perceived lack of combat skills. Has a way with animals and deep understanding of plants as well.

The Champion: A once in a lifetime prodigy, and elite in basically any weapon he/she is a gourmet, a cook and a prankster, but the weight of the new role weighs heavily on him/her.

The Noble: A member of an old bloodline, blessed with special magic. And yet, hasn't been able to tap into it, a great frustration for the family and him/herself, as well as a point of contention even as he/she spearheads the archaeological efforts.

The Healer: From a Bloodline of healers. She is a skilled combatant, alongside her inherited affinity for healing as healing magic literally runs in the family. But has some issues over being known for the inherent ability of her bloodline, and not for her skills or achievements.

The Ranger: A master of the bow, and the foremost expert of his species in manipulating the wind. A master of his/her craft that was selected to represent them. Always pushing him/herself to do better, to push beyond the limits of yesterday. And yet, is also insecure and perhaps comes off a little arrogant sometimes due to his awareness of just how much of his/her life was invested to get this far.

The Leader: A highly skilled warrior and leader of her faction. While she/he is highly capable, she however needs to balance her time between his/her duty as a Chosen Champion, but also to the people she leads. Especially helping her young chosen successor prepare for if/when she needs to take over.

In the Climax of the arc, all of the elements and events would come together, in a desperate doomed war that ends with a pyrrhic victory. The champions barely escaping alive thanks to the assistance of others, and even then being forced to recuperate in hidden relic recovery facilities till arc 3. The threat still around, but contained with it's reach drastically curtailed
The second at is set a long time after the first, where the broken old kingdom is only remembered by the elders of the old species. Still in living memory for specific long-lived communities, but at least one generation of most species have passed. This is centered around basically dreamers, people whom while lacking the talent, training, or bloodline of the first group of protags, nonetheless has the will to try and change the new status quo for the better. Kindling hope, gathering new members, acquiring better equipment clashing with those whom see them as a threat, including threats from before the disaster.

The climax would be a major clash with a cult built around the cause of the disaster, whom were founded shortly after the fall of the golden age. Between the friends, allies, and their improvements of the organization and their people, they whether an all-out attack by the cult, attempting to weaken the rising new power in the area.
This act ties the first two together. The containment is weakening, the recovery of the gravely wounded champions are finished, if not fully complete, and the Arc 2 Cast are at the forefront of the wider fight. One of the major aspects are the interactions between the casts, coming to terms with how much things have changed, and possibly spotty memories of the time before. The climax would be the final battle, the Champions and the act 2 organization fighting the enemy faced in act one, without the element of suprise being on their enemy's side.

Well, built up a bit on the idea. Not complete but more than just a blurb at least.
