Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Please, I would love to see more people there for discussion and ideas. You can even come and support Will's ideas there too!
Maybe I will join more actively if @Duke William of has even... a semblance of an updated schedule. :V

Lets just say that.

But I will join... eventually. mostly because I feel absolutely exhausted over the last week and think that i need a break.

Pretty great that we managed to get a crit and absolutely nuke CBS. I was feeling guilty for a while that I didn't help with an Omake, glad it still turned out alright regardless. If it weren't for Cat getting fucked over by the executives I'd call this a perfect turn, even no Romero is fine because we didn't sour things with him, schedules didn't connect.

In regards to Cat, any chance we can get George to hire her as an assistant Director for American Grafitti? Filming proper did begin on June 28th and considering all of his many difficulties both with this film and with THX, George probably won't turn down good help no matter a blacklist and having Cat come with a strong recommendation from Bruce would definitely earn an in. Even if it's nepotistic, George owes us for keeping him financially solvent with THX and so long as we keep things simple and don't overreach in requests, just a decent role behind the scenes, he'll probably accept. Hopefully best case scenario is that Cat is such a huge help to Grafitti that George hires her on as a permanent member of Lucasfilm and she becomes heavily involved in the production of Star Wars. Add us as Luke or Han, and Star Wars becomes the Lucas-O'Brian Saga.

[]10 million dollars: Your split of the loot, after your lawyers basically torched CBS to the ground for all sorts of stuff. Sure it wasn't the war chest, but that was because… well CBS was not going to survive this upheaval. Not in its current form.

[]Rights to a Show?: So, they hold the rights to characters, shows, and trademarks. And that is about to be given to you, as part of restitution for damages, for the MASH debacle. These rights are worth millions of dollars. Possibly even more. (a randomly rolled number of a list of CBS shows of this era will be rolled for and given to you. The rest will go back to their creators.)

----------------------------------------------------

[]Financing: CBS, in any form that it may take in the future, will have to legally finance a project for television in the future, be it a series, a miniseries, or a TV movie, without seeing a cent in royalty and restitution payments. They have to legally finance a project you are helming... and see not a cent in return. This offer will remain open, if taken, for the rest of your natural life.

Man all of these are pretty damn good for rewards and honestly I don't know what to pick. I'm fine with any one of them, but to me the weakest is definitely Show Rights because financing and 10 Mil are guaranteed and are pretty huge rewards to our financial future in production and personal wealth, but if we get a low roll on Show Rights we'll be just stick with syndication money from a meh show. If people choose that we'll definitely need to upgrade with Omakes.

"Always like you to do that, kid." He replied. "Just to tell you though. You'll be fine. I promise."

"Why do you say that?"

"You haven't found the woman of your dreams yet, kid. Believe me, you might have decided to run away with her." He then chuckled. "Like I did with your mom."

Once we do become financially and creatively secure, it'll be fun to start the hunt for Mrs. O'Brian and hopefully create a wholesome and loving relationship in the City of Divorce. Personally I'm aiming for Carrie Fisher if we're gonna do Star Wars. Only a healthy 2-3 year age difference and if we co-star as Han or Luke that's plenty of time to develop chemistry over the years. Even if nothing romantic ever comes from it, let's at least try to have Bruce be there to help her through her difficult years of drug use and issues with Bi-Polar disorder, hopefully preventing the former and helping to deal with the latter in a healthy manner.

I was happy when the roll came my friend, because then I realized something.

We can absolutely screw with the boys over at the other tv networks just by absolutely screwing over the lads at CBS.

Sure we may never work in TV again, but fuck em...

American Graffiti is actually one of the movies I think that Lucas should finish himself. it was remarkably low-stress for Geroge to do, and it didn't really cause him any issues, in fact, it was one of the few films that were actually made cheaply, and ahead of schedule. 28 days for principle photography is really short for a Hollywood production when being directed by a person not named Robert Rodrigez. :V

I would hope that our sister is actually better at directing dialogue, and actually.. fixing some of Lucas' more... issues when it comes to how he directs his actors.

Also, holy fuck we can make Star Wars somehow better...

I mean sure it was already perfect from a movie standpoint, but a bit of extra tweaking can never hurt...

And think of the memes man!

All I want to do is make fun of CBS, for their terrible decisions.

Also, what happens when they release MASH and it turns out to be a hit?

That would be fucking hilarious.

I am in Agreement with Cyber Here.

Carrie deserves better, and even if we don't decide to romance her, having a friend who can help her is something I think she deserves.

@Duke William of is the Vote open?

Sorry for potential Necro, but when I was rereading I saw ^ and realized that maybe we were meant to vote on the CBS options. I just thought it was giving us the selections for Turn 14, but since the turn hasn't come, I was wondering, were we supposed to vote @Duke William of ?

Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it

So as the new GM what's your verdict. Are we supposed to vote for settlement now or is that a next turn thing?

Hmm..Original or Prequel First? If we do prequels, do we get to be Anakin? Or we get Mark Hamill as Teen Anakin? Then there's the assortment of characters aside from 3PO and R2-D2 (We're not replacing them.) that we'll also need to decide on.

Next turn.

Originals of course.
Sad to hear you burned out on the quest Duke, and thank you Magoose for picking it up!
I'm sad too, but at least we can continue!

Eventually I need to start clearing some backlogs on my end.

If we get the choice I think we should do Han Solo over Luke Skywalker

  • Harrison Ford didn't like being Han Solo, didn't even really liked the franchise
  • He Was involved in some really really sketchy stuff with the affair with Carrie Fisher.
"Ford yanks Fisher away from the party and into a car — and starts making out with her. He is married and has two kids. He is 14 years older than her. She is drunk, and he just finished saying she isn't aware enough to make rational decisions. And that's how their affair starts."

www.theverge.com

Carrie Fisher's final Harrison Ford story isn't romantic, it's just tragic

The actual details in her final memoir are despairing and demoralizing, and it’s deeply weird that people are treating the book like titillating gossip.

  • And of course, imagine an Irish boxer Han Solo

Damn that sucks ass to find out how Harrison was just as horrible as the rest of Hollywood, but at the same time not too surprising. Hollywood is a cesspool and the brighter the star shines the more heavy their sins tend to be. Here's hoping Goose makes it a little less toxic or at the very least his corner of Hollywood is professional and mature.

Even if I didn't learn about the affair, I would have preferred for Bruce to be Han anyways because Mark Hamill is passionate about the franchsie and cars about the characters unlike Ford and it's really hard to replace perfection with him as Luke whereas I think Han can be worked in different angles.

At this point it's way too early to say how Irish Han would affect his EU trajectory (I REALLY Hope we get some involvement in Legends and help push those stories to the big or small screen along with earlier video game development), but here's what I imagine Han would be like under Bruce:
  • Due to the age difference Han wouldn't be a seasoned veteran and spacer whose seen the galaxy and knows all there is to know. Han has been in the smuggling business for some time, but at most its a year or two and he's just a good guy who tries to put up the front of a scoundrel but is in too deep with Jabba and is just as lost as Luke in a lot of ways.
  • Unlike Ford's natural charisma and swagger as Han, here we can make it so that Han is someone who wants to be Cool and does his best to put up an image, and to strangers he sure seems cool, but those who truly know him get to know how vulnerable and unsure Han is.
  • Here Chewie is not just Han's best friend, but his mentor figure who helped Han to navigate the smuggler's life and help keeps him grounded and in check when Han gets in over his head. Gives Chewie some more agency and character.
  • With Han and Luke being closer in age and hopefully great chemistry between Bruce and Mark, Han is more clearly an older brother figure to Luke and someone Luke looks to for advice and guidance when unsure, the Normal dude whose been in similar boats to Luke and tells it like it is instead of going all mystical. Han and Luke can mirror each other in a lot of ways where Han is what Luke would have been like if he got to go to the Academy and realized how terrible the galaxy could be. Han is the jaded pilot who fell out of love with the galaxy, Luke is the bright eyed hopeful who pushes Han to being a better person and going back on the path he wanted to be as an Imperial pilot.
  • Remove the weird and dated parts of Han and Leia's romance and keep them as equals in character and personality. Leia likes Han because he's a scruffy looking Nerf herder who shows his best parts to Leia and Leia can just be herself and free around him as Leia Organa instead of Princess Leia. Han at first falls for Leia for her good looks but then falls in love with her over being a good person who isn't afraid to fight for those who can't, thus pushing him to be good like Luke.
  • If we keep Billy Dee Williams as Lando, then Lando can be like an older brother figure to Han who helped him in his early days as a smuggler and the two were partners until a bad deal caused a fight and Han won the Falcon in the Sabbac game. Lando is a smooth talking scoundrel who shows what Han will become later in life if he doesn't stop smuggling, maybe go into some of the darker aspect's of a smuggler's life. Like how Luke and Leia change Han for the better, Han's example causes Lando to change for the better.
  • Establish Han's past career as a TIE fighter pilot and his feelings of conflict and turmoil over his history with the Empire. The Empire rescued him from the slums of Corellia and gave him purpose and an education, taught him how to fly which is when he's happiest. For the longest time he deeply believed in what the Empire stood for and the Academy days were the greatest days of Han's life but when he became a pilot, he slowly realized that the Empire lies and their Order is oppressing the weak like how Han was. Being in the Rebellion helps him find where he truly belongs and gives him a good purpose.

Loved the last part, it has been speculated that the people out of the know of the Universe still thinks Palps as this kind old man he shows himself in the prequels, and not the Emperor he is seen during the OG trilogy.

I can just picture the bloopers for the romance scenes, with each step of the way caused by two romance-related inexperienced actors.

I would like to point out that since Lucas originally didn't intend for Leia and Han to get together, it doesn't NEED to happen here. Honestly, there might be a ton of different changes that could be pushed for or original ideas that had been scrapped OTL to be used here. Things like Luke being a female or alternate designs on Vader or fucking literally anything else. We could also probably insert ideas and concepts that would have been introduced later, earlier. Things like the Jedi and Sith Codes, mentions of figures like Revan, Meetra Surik, the Sith Empire, Jedi Lords, the Separatists, the Clone Wars, Ahsoka, Thrawn, and a ton of other juicy details.
