Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

He won't be able to handle the sheer customizability of the cardboard box.

In fact, in honor of MGS, I hereby propose we buy out a cardboard box company. We shall diversify again.

*cue people tryna find out our business strategy after succeeding with cameras and vidjagames.

And then Bruce builds his kids a cardboard box fort.

In all seriousness if we make a film version of the first Fallout game's plot we have the spitting image of Albert Cole ready and available. And it'd be nice to give Bruce Campbell work other than Ash.

So guys just a question, who would Bruce Play in Battlestar Galactic 2003? Besides Adama, because come on, what kind of character would he play?

So I just rewatched High Score and found some of the key differences with how the Genesis turned out in this timeline.

1. We released almost half a decade earlier.
2. We released it at a much steeper price.
3. We released it before Nintendo got a 98% dominance on the videogame market.

The NES originally had a total of over 60 million units sold over its lifetime. Assuming the current ratio of Genesis to NES consoles sold is maintained... we're looking at maybe 20 to 30 million Genesis units bought. Especially after getting access to European and wider Asian markets. We could be looking at more than a billion in revenue made back on consoles alone.

To say nothing of the games themselves or the merchandising.

It'll be like we released a fourth film in the Star Wars trilogy. Albeit one that earned the money over the course of half a decade, but still.

My point is... this is much better than getting it one lump sum and scrambling for a way to spend it all. :V

There are also a bunch of little typos, missing words, or grammar and punctuation issues here and there, but they aren't really all that necessary to list out right now since your brain can fill in the correct info. These two are the ones I think that might hamper understanding of the sidestory.

Sorry about that, I was in a rush to complete it in my work break. Will fix.

Im hoping there are a lot of women fighting in the film. Just so we can piss William Lind off. XD

I didn't really add female actresses because I tried and kind of gave up on who to cast because I didn't have much of a synopsis (Though I might edit this in later when I have the free time and motivation). Word of god from me, about a quarter to a third of the American cast including the extras are women with many scenes depicting women in frontline combat roles, though female leadership is mainly for the resistance and civilians. John witnessed a lot of women kicking ass in Romania and realistically, if there was a WWIII with the West Coast invaded, most women would be drafted and serve directly in some capacity. So yeah, Red Day might help advance women in the military, ironically.

So the USA is at peak "America f*ck yeah!" status right now?

I highly suspect a bunch of other studios are gunna jump right on that.

Considering this, GI Joe, Rambo, Jack Ryan and more, the 80s will definitely be peak MURICA in entertainment with lots of techno-thriller and military-adventure patriotism stories. Already a thing OTL in the 80s, but it will be accelerated here.

This is probably the closest we will ever get to Pre -Vietnam War level of trust in the Government.

It's probably poetic that Government trust was at its lowest after the end of a Republican Presidency with Nixon and Watergate and then recovered and reached its peak during the Presidency of Ronald Reagen.

I doubt we're truly in a return to pre-Vietnam levels as there are plenty of reasons for people on the Left and Right to be distrustful of government, but this probably is as close to a return to normal in civil society. Honestly, Reagan could have achieved something like this as seen in his '84 election, but Iran-Contra and the messy way the War on Drugs was handled ruined it and exacerbated tensions, which I hope we butterly here.

I'm kind of hoping we manage to achieve a social scene like the Bush 41 presidency which in a lot of ways would be the last high point of American civil discourse and unity save for the post 9/11 Rally around the flag. Personally hope Bruce's butterflies lead to a West Wing style of partisanship.

Why haven't we welcomed an actual goose into our home? In fact, why don't we have a flock of geese to pad our home security?

I kind of have a headcanon that after Bruce moved into Beverly Hills, the nearby parks suddenly found themselves with flocks of geese that started building nests.

Guys, who heads LucasArts?

I've tried to research this but I can't really find anything concerete besides George founding it. It seems that early Lucasarts to the late 90s was structured like Valve where it was a loose horizontal structure that could just do whatever they want with little oversight.

Personally, since we incorporated Sega and they did the bulk of the heavy lifting with the Genesis along with Lucasarts only having some minimal software development before the acquisition, I think the Sega guys dominate corporate and business leadership for Lucasarts. This would mean that Sega's founder David Rosen would currently be the head of Lucasarts. Doubly so since he lives in LA and OTL, Mike and he were close on the board of Paramount so Mike would probably like him. Bruce would also be into it since he's an Air Force veteran who served in Japan during the Korean War.

I'm unsure of whether this is great or bad deal as David stepped down from direct leadership after Sega transitioned to a Japanese company and just remained Chairman, his most notable accomplishment in this time being the creation of Sega of America. He seems competent, just didn't have the ability to take direct control and was dealing with the fallout of the crash. Probably a decent and stable leader but not someone brilliant or visionary on the level of Reggie and Iwata.

Hayao Nakayama is a weird wild card in the sense that Sega acquired his arcade company in 1979, and then Sega is acquired by us in 1981. So he might leave, but I can definitely see Nakayama staying and perhaps becoming the regional VP of Lucasarts Japan due to his seniority and the need for Japan to have some autonomy in an American run company. While he is a capable businessman and will probably handle the Japanese arcades and market great, I don't want him to become the head of Sega at all as it was under his reign that Sega imploded and he did jack to stop the toxic infighting between Sega of Japan and America.

Personally, I'm kind of aiming for Tom Kalinske to become head of Lucasarts in 1985. Dude was an innovator and visionary limited by the lack of power and autonomy Sega gave to Sega of America and I think he can be our Reggie.

By the end of the 80s, I can definitely see Lucasarts and Sega here having a majority of the console market, though Nintendo is still relatively close. If Genesis can get 30 million based off of its conditions OTL, I have complete faith we can match the OTL NES numbers if not succeed them for the Genesis' run. We just need more market outreach, rising incomes and the kickass Sega marketing from OTL.

I am completely serious when I say that there's a great possibility that by TTL 2025 that Lucasarts would be the leading source of revenue for Lucasfilms. Just as Disney gets its money from the parks, we can get our money from video games to fund whatever we want in film. Lucasfilms, the empire built on toys and video games.

So, Magoose is banned (Or to be more accurate, he requested a ban).....can someone explain to me what in the **** just happened???

I DM'd Magoose, and he said he's just taking some time off for personal stuff and just wants to recharge and not be distracted by SV. I wouldn't worry, I've seen many people on Alternatehistory do something similar and come back, stuff like this happens and Magoose deserves a break.

Ohh I've read about Tom Kalinske, a incredibly innovative and intelligent man who can keep things solid with the various Egos in the company.
Lucasfilms, the empire built on toys and video games.
Its an empire built on the massive creative process of storytelling.

It just takes many forms!

One thing that I'm concerned about Kalinske as head of LucasArts are his competitive nature and the posibility that this may lead toa break in the current state of affairs with Nintendo. I mean, if we make him head he is going to want to make sure Sega is at the top, which is not a bad thing, but he might want to try it by beginning the set of ads and campaigns that basically maligned the competition, which is not something I would think we want.

Basically, I want to try and avoid the "Sega does what Nintendon't" type of rivalry.

Cool, thanks Kaiser. I guess this gives us more time to work in our Omakes and Pitches then.

Why is it I cannot get the scene of that one puppet movie, action team America or something, but with the entire group having a running joke about them worshipping Bruce O'Brian

"By bruce-!"
"You do NOT take Han Solo's name in vain!"

"Quick, let's pray for our success.... In the name of the daughter, the wife, and the greatest actor of all time, In lucasfilm's name amen."

"And woe it was said, send into me your greatest of actors, your most divine of directors, he who brought us star wars and let him bring joy and delight to the world... And so it was that Bruce O'Brian came and brought joy to us all."
"What about Disney?"
"Ah, they have their OWN O'Brian. Truly it is a bloodline of glory."

Just imagine Bruce being both flattered and a bit irritated by the entire joke.

What are the odds of Berserk happening in this timeline? And do we even try and get it? Cause I believe that the whole thing with the Apostles will get us with more zealot problems.
