Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I am actually going to say no.

At least that he knows of.

Kevin Conroy is an acquaintance but he dosen't know that he's gay. for obvious reasons.
Well @Magoose , I would like to point out that Bruce and Carrie are good friends with Freddy Mercury and the rest of Queen (they have even released a few Albums together)... And whereas Freddy never "came out of the closet officially" he wasn't precisely discreet in the 80s and never hid that he liked men in front of his friends or family...
Doing a second playthrough of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. We are SO gonna dump Peter's childhood bedroom with as much 80s stuff as we possibly can. :V
I loved that game I hope that when we make our own Marvel movies we make our Peter and Drax more like in the game...

If his character were to be approached realistically, his view would probably lay somewhere around "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," at least to start out. Generally speaking though, it's unlikely to be something to really come up, even if just for the sake of avoiding such a hot button issue on something that isn't a political quest.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this generation would have been taught at least one important quote. "Mind your business." Bruce probs understands he has no right ordering how another person should live their life, only provide an example.

Turn 111 Results (April- May 1984) New
Turn 111 Results (April- May 1984)

-[X]Cult of the Preacher: This is one of those films that you have been waiting to see ever since the script crossed your desk. DC: 30 Rolled:D100 => 79+20=99

This is going to be one of those films that make you proud to be a film producer and owner of a film company. No one even five years ago would have had the balls to make it.

(Continued in: Cult of the Preacher)
------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Scripts and the movies: You want scripts made, so give the ideas and make those scripts (Scripts that linetail will be made this turn. Every script is one action.)
--[X] Work on: Creepshow II and We Happy Few Rolled:D100 => 5 and D100 => 67

You got both those scripts done… though Creepshow II might need more time in the oven.

Reward: Can produce the films without any debuffs.
--------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Dark Knight: Alan has come to your home, and wants to make the final Batman film now.
--[X]Agree to make it Rolled:D100 => 81

Alan was simply pacing as you entered your home office. "Why the hell did you come to my home when a phone call could be something that you can do with a phone call?"

"Simple, I needed your attention. Because I have another offer for you."

"I'm already doing everything you want, why the hell would I ever."

"It's about… the Justice League Film."

You sighed. "Let me guess you want me to make it?"

"Yes." he said.

"I never agreed to that." You said.

"The offer is there." He said. "And think of your legacy?"

"Maybe I'll think of yours when you see what I had to do to save it?"

"Oh don't be like that?"

"You're gambling that I might say yes?"

"Of course?" Alan said with a smile. "That's all ole Alan Hichfield's been known for now? One insane gamble after another?"

Reward: Batman begins production soon. (next turn or the turn after)
-----------------------------------------------
-[X]A New Way To Action: You and some second unit directors had some ideas… so you and the boys got ideas. How to film action to make it real, and stylized. DC: 50 Rolled:D100 => 88

THe only thing better than making it real… was making it real and looking cool, with steady cameras that could not move. Ever since the steady cam was invented, operators were trying hard to use it, and even with new mounts to make it better and with new action.

All it required was patience and skill You had that in spades.

Reward: +100 to all action scene quality in the next film.

New Cameras will now be made in the future that might be more durable.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Sega and the Masterclass of Advertizing: So Sega saw the commercial, and wants to do another one… though this time, they want you to show that is better than Nintendo in every other way. By… well being Walt Disney. Why does everyone want you to act like Walt! You're a Bruce Dammit! No you are doing it your way! DC: 35 Rolled:D100 => 79

You decided to play the role of the most destructive force in entertainment.

Yourself. The destroyer of Warner bros, the man who changed Hollywood.

The Conquerer. And honestly, it was rather fun putting on the Conan Getup, acting as a barbarian, as you destroyed the consoles that were acting as competitors to you, while…

Being utterly in awe of the Sega genesis power. And honestly… it was so damn fun!

Reward: Even more sega genisis units are selling like hotcakes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Art of the Siblings: So Mary has proclaimed it was a silly time. And that meant you had to grab your costume. DC: 0 Rolled:D100 => 24
-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids! Rolled:D100 => 68

(Continued in: A FAmily Get together)

-[X]Investments: You want to invest your hard-earned cash into something that you feel will be a good return on investment. And as well as diversify your assets DC: 0 (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to invest in)
--[X] Bewley's. $25 million. Invest in the coffee and tea company for an expansion into the United States. Also partner to have Bewley's feature Oatfield sweets in their cafes. Rolled:D100 => 91

They accepted immediately. And honestly, it was a boon, because with growing domestic market… it was clear they would make a profit.

And with the money going back to Ireland… well more people were praising your health.

Reward: Own Bewley. Or rather a large percentage of it.
--------------------------------------

--[X] NTR plc. $120 Million. Support the company's mission in furthering Green Energy. Rolled:D100 => 74

It would be invested in and you would see some of that… investment grow. Even though you think Nuclear would be the best course of action for sustainable power production.

Reward: Invested in NTR plc.

Expect more green energy being made with your resources.
---------------------------------------------
-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X]Neue Constantin Film. One of the studios in Germany founded right after the war, which has produced many interesting films so far, has just finished with the adaptation of 'The Never Ending Story', a novel full of imagination and fantasy. Speak with them and see if you can get the distribution rights. Rolled:D100 => 4+30=34

Reroll: D100 => 29+30=59

THe Never Ending Story would be given the Lucasfilms Treatment. That was what they said.

Reward: Can release the never-ending story any time you want.
-------------------------------------------------------------

--[X] Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. A pair of independent comics creators from New Hampshire who have just created some of the most creative and interesting characters so far; The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Though they are not willing to sell, perhaps speak with them to see if you can get distribution rights for Marvel. Rolled:D100 => 3+30=33

Reroll:D100 => 4+30=34

Reroll 2:D100 + 30 => 31

Final Reroll:D100 + 30 => 35

Eastman and Laird did not really trust you. Not because it was you, but because of what you represented. They wanted to keep TMNT…. Their own, and putting the Marvel logo on it meant that they would not be able to.

But they ended the matter cordially.

Failure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Workout: A Healthy Mind and a Healthy Body are Key to having a good life, and you have been slacking as of late. Time to hit the workout and discipline, and perhaps, see things differently. DC: 30 Reward: You work out and feel better.Rolled:D100 + 30 => 124
-[X]Training Carrie: If Carrie is serious, you are going to train her till she is able to do everything. It was her idea to do this… so you are just going to help her DC: 45 Rolled:D100 + 30 => 105

Carrie panted in pain as you continued working and moving through the reps. "You know, I would have hoped that this was easier, considering how much we really do it?"

"It does get easier, you just decided to be lazy."

"Having children and raising them right does not make me lazy?" She protested as she worked harder through her reps to talk. "Come on!"

"I know my deary Carrie, but you said you wanted to get serious, so I am taking this seriously. You will be in the greatest shape of your life when I am done with you in three months."

"Three months?" She protested.

"And there is also the training you need to do for firearms and explosives." You said. "I need to do that too, I've been hearing a rumor that Arnold and Sly want me to be in some cool action movie that would be awesome."

"But really, three months." She said.

"That's just preliminary to get in shape, Carrie. It's keeping in shape that might be your biggest problem?" you teased.

"Keeping in shape?" She realized you were teasing her, but she decided to play along with it. "How is that my problem?"

"Well you and your husband have a very active sex life and relationship, and becoming pregnant is-"

Carrie then tackled you, bringing you towards the grass you were on. "How's that for a problem?"

You both began laughing as you both began holding one another. Then she kissed you. "Well I know for a fact that giving birth does wonders for weight loss."

"Indeed it does." You smiled.

Then she hugged you. "Thanks for helping me."

"I know." You said. "Though I do have a question for you… when do you want to start filming it?"

"This year hopefully. Though the beginning of next year at the latest." She said. "Something late in the year, to get your mind off of things… and let me take a crack at editing the script."

Reward: You are in shape, and Carrie is beginning to get into the shape of her life again.

How the heck did all of those rolls never go higher than a damn five?! (Minus the bonuses, of course.)

I mean, it's not unheard to shift around dice rolls. Maybe you earn a Nat 1 and a Nat 100. Perfectly reasonable to decide which action they go to depending either which action needs to succeed more. Or maybe for the sake of making the narrative flow better.

Or sometimes you really do get shit three times in a row.

I don't rig my dice. this shit happened.

that happened three times in a row, though I will say I rolled a few things inbetween the turn after those three negative failures to see if they could help me write a USFL omake.

Holy shit Steve Young out here trying to be the goat.

...Dammit. I really love TMNT.

I guess someone should do a pitch for Street Sharks. 😆

What the actual Fuck!?! How the hell does Eastman and Laird reject our offer by saying how they want to keep the TMNT theirs?!? They did not hesitate to license the rights to anyone and their mother in 1984, and they made damn sure to keep the rights for their comic nonetheless!!

Darn, I hope we can try again later, I have three pitches for the movies done, and I want to see them done.

Its less that they were unwilling to do it, more who they were doing it.

we own Marvel... and they decided to hedge their bets for a moment to see if they get a better offer elsewhere.

They do want money after all.

at least they were cordieal... about it
