Act 1
Pete, Alice, and Cecil are finishing up at school. Pete is finishing up baseball practice where he messes up a play by acting too early and his coach tells him he needs to stop and think more. Alice is talking with the guidance counselor who asks her how her home life is, but the bell rings before Alice answers and she races out and collects her fossil hunting gear. Cecil is being bullied by some boys who mock him for glasses and knock his books down, Pete and Alice show up and chase them off as they try to cheer Cecil up. The three decide to head over to the book store, their usual hang out.
They arrive, Mister Reed welcoming them while restocking the shelves. The old man asks the kids how they are, talking to them individually as they explore different sections of the book store and learning about Alice and Cecil's troubles, and stopping Pete before he can knock over a display for the hit new autobiography from Bruce O'Brian. Hearing of their troubles he offers them a special book. When he hands it to them they are confused because the cover is blank, and so are the inside pages. Mister Reed tells them that the plot, characters, and setting are all up to them, whatever they want will show up. BUT, he warns, once they start reading they can't stop till the story is finished. Then he just kind of waddles off.
The three kids stare at the book, asking each other what kind of story they'd like to read about. Pete says he wants one with lots of fantasy, sword and sorcery, and an Evil Queen! Alice gushes about how much she'd love to read about all the different kinds of dinosaurs. Cecil admits he'd want to read something involving complicated machinery powered by renewable energy. As each of the kids say what they'd want to see, the book changes and slowly develops a cover(look above), and begins to grow in size. Slightly taken aback, the three kids slowly open up the book-
And are sucked inside through a vortex of wind and magic.
Traveling through an interdimensional wormhole, the three kids are dumped in a lush and colorful jungle like area, each of them pushing through the heavy underbrush before finally coming upon a exit from the thick jungle and find themselves looking out over a vast and alien world, where floating mountains and flying creatures line the sky, and where the grass is all manner of colors and sheens.
Excitement gives way to astonishment for Alice as a herd of Brontosaurs pass by, and Pete nearly passes out as a couple of Wood Nymphs chuckle and laugh as they poke at his strange clothes. While both his friends are marveling at this, Cecil wonders when something he likes is gonna' show up, which is when Tinker, Snowbell, and the Professor arrive via Tinker's Pteranodon form. Or more like crash, Tinker isn't very good at sticking the landing. The kids are initially freaked out, until Tinker's friendly demeanor and Snowbell's jovially attitude puts them at ease. The Professor introduces himself, revealing he was able to find the kids due to one of his devices picking up a strange bit of interdimensional energy popping up.
Exposition is given as Snowbell explains the world that the kids just entered. Mystarium. And she explains the current problems that their world is facing because of the Evil Queen Malora, who's massive floating castle can be seen in the distance surrounded by dark thunder clouds and lightning, dragging a massive jagged crystal through the ground.
Pete is all for helping out the Professor and this world, intent on becoming a great hero of legend while Alice and Cecil try to get him to calm down. In the excitement a group of Crystal Soldiers show up, and the kids hop on Tinker as they all make a break for it to escape. A chase happens with the Crystal Soldiers riding Crystal Pteranodon's of their own, forcing Tinker to escape down through the jungle and narrowly avoid the vines and giant man eating plants. Cecil loses his grip at one point and falls off, Snowbell flying after him and grabbing hold only for one of the Crystal Soldiers to grab them both and capture them. Alice and Pete can only watch in horror as their friend is flown off towards the Evil Queen's floating castle.
Act 2
Cecil is put in a comically large cage by the Crystal Soldiers, with the boy lamenting to Snowbell that even in a fantasy world he finds himself getting stuff inside places by big bullies. Snowbell tries to cheer him up, reminding him that his friends and the Professor are probably already thinking of a way to get them out of their situation. That's when the duo are brought into the throne room, right before Queen Malora.
Queen Malora is dramatic, proclaiming victory over the Professor and happily talking about how he'll no longer be a thorn in her side. That's when she actually looks at Cecil and Snowbell, and she starts berating the Crystal Soldiers for grabbing the wrong person. After a bit of a hissy fit in which she blows up a few of the Crystal Soldiers up with magic and then orders them to clean themselves up(as the Crystal Soldiers aren't dead, just in a bunch of pieces and comically start bouncing out of the room), she turns to Cecil and Snowbell, and asks who the boy is. Cecil explains how he and his friends ended up here, and Malora is more than intrigued when he mentions another world. She asks him to tell her more.
Meanwhile Alice and Pete are begging the Professor and Tinker to chase after Cecil, but he Professor says that it would be suicide to face the Queen's floating castle alone, and that they must seek help before attempting such a daring feat. Tinker flies them all down to a bustling village filled with loads of different fantasy races, transforming into his Stegosaurus form and stomping around town. Pete is amazed at everything, goofily commenting on an undead walking about(he's not, he's actually just an old man and he'll get around to dying when he feels like it), and has to be roped in by Alice. Alice herself is distracted momentarily by seeing a family happily enjoying their time together, and feels bad that stuff like that just isn't in her cards anymore.
Before the kids can explore too much more, a band of warriors flying Pterodactyls land down in front of them, the leader of the group being a really cool looking Elf named Razor-Leaf, who angrily asks the Professor how he could possibly show his face around here after being responsible for the destruction that's raped the lands. The kids learn about how the Professor was tricked, and try to defend him only for Razor-Leaf to dismiss them as scrawny brats. The Professor begs Razor-Leaf for help in getting Cecil back, but Razor-Leaf(who does offer his condolences to the kids for their friend), reveals that he and his warriors are planning on attacking the floating Castle in the morning, and using explosives to bring it down. The Professor tries to argue against that, both because of Cecil's safety and also because it could cause a massive magical explosion that could spread the infection of the Crystal even faster, but Razor-Leaf refuses to listen, flying off with his warriors.
Pete asks how the Professor even plans on stopping Malora, and the Professor reveals an orb with all manner of spinning and twirling gizmo's. He says that the orb is loaded with the last bits of magic he managed to snag from the Crystal, and Tinker shows that he has an identical orb in his chest and it's what powers machines like himself. The Professor explains that by introducing this energy back to the Crystal, they can overload it safely and just short circuit the magic and revert all of the previously Crystal infected lands in the process.
Back to Cecil and Malora, Malora begins spinning a tale about how she's really helping people with the Crystal, that if everyone becomes a Crystal being then all will be equal and on the same level, everyone will fit in with each other. Cecil actually finds this agreeable, much to Snowbell's shock. The fairy tries to argue, but Malora subtly puts her in a sound proof magical box when Cecil isn't looking. Slowly Malora is manipulating Cecil onto her side, learning more and more about how he and his friends arrived in her world, and taking an EXTRA bit of interest in the wording that Mister Reed said, that they can only return once the story is finished. "Nobody said it had to be a happy ending." Malora mumbles darkly to herself.
Back to Alice, she's feeling down and Tinker is there to listen to her vent. She hates that her parents are getting divorced, she hates that she feels like everything's just splitting apart on her and that it's all she can do just to hold herself together. Tinker says that sometimes it's okay to fall apart, and maybe picking ourselves back up is a scary thought, but we'll be stronger because of it.
Meanwhile with Peter he's actually blaming himself for a lot of this. He feels that Malora's whole existence is his fault, since he wanted the Evil Queen to be part of the story. The Professor talks with Peter, saying how mistakes are often a very important part of life and growing up. "Nothing, in this world or any other, starts out perfect. Every sapling has to spread its roots and stretch up high before it can be called a tree, and from those trees comes an acorn to start the whole process over again."
Act 3
The dawn breaks and Razor-Leaf and his band of warriors start their attack on Malora's floating Castle. The Professor and the kids use this as a chance to sneak up behind the Castle, whilst their attention is on the front. The battle is massive and a huge part of the third act, Razor-Leaf's warriors riding Pterodactyl's and fighting Crystal Soldiers who are riding Crystaldactyls, all with the floating castle and the huge crystal as a backdrop to give size to the battle.
We cut to Malora and Cecil, the Evil Queen convincing to sit upon her throne and try leading her soldiers to victory so that they may end the bloodshed and begin anew. Cecil, looking like he's going to actually go for, opts out at the last second. Sadly the decision isn't really up to him, and the Evil Queen uses her magic to force him into the chair, revealing it's a device that can hone in on Cecil's own interdimensional signature, of which Malora can use that to open a portal to the real world all for herself. The Crystal is finally revealed, a large purple jagged piece of rock that hovers over Cecil as it crackles with purple electricity.
Snowbell frees herself from the soundproof box finally thanks to a clumsy Crystal Soldier, and starts messing with the control room to cause the floating Castle to deviate just as it was about to drag the larger Crystal through the village that Peter and Alice were at earlier.
The Professor and the kids land on the floating Castle but are met with a band of Crystal Soldiers. Tinker, finally growing a spine, transforms into his Stegosaurus form and fights back allowing the Professor and kids to get further into the Castle. The Castle crashes into the side of a mountain, causing everyone inside to topple over and for the Professor to drop the Orb which Peter quickly grabs and races ahead of everyone else.
Outside Razor-Leaf and his warriors are losing the battle, so the Elf orders his men to prepare the explosives while the Castle is out of service.
Peter runs into the throne room just as the Crystal is powering up, and seeing Cecil strapped in the chair he acts without thinking and throws the Orb at the Crystal. Just as it's about to hit, Malora snatches it out of the air and cackles at Peter for acting so brashly. The Crystal then zaps Cecil who lets out a cry before the Crystal stops and he slumps forward. Peter lets out a pained cry of anguish as the others enter the throne room and Malora cackles some more, leaning forward to mock Cecil's still corpse.
Or rather, she would have, had Cecil not looked up and blew a Raspberry right in her face. This causes Malora to jump back in surprise, her own magic going off while holding the Orb and causing a mini explosion that leaves her a smoking and burnt mess who falls to the ground with a low groan. Peter and Alice get Cecil out of the chair, asking how in the world he managed to survive that. "Insulated Jacket." Cecil says proudly.
The happy reunion is cut short though as the Professor picks up the Orb, revealing it's been broken apart and the magic inside is gone. Without the Orb, there's no way to stop the Crystal, and Razor-Leaf's men are approaching with the explosives. After a bit of worrying, Tinker steps forward and says they still have ONE MORE Orb, gesturing to the one in his chest. Alice is against it, tearfully telling Tinker that without that Orb he won't be alive anymore. "Sometimes it's okay to fall apart Alice." He calmly reminds her, before pulling his orb out. He has enough energy to pass it to the Professor, before his whole mechanical form falls apart like a house of cards. The Professor presses the Orb to the Crystal, the two energies mixing before causing a massive short circuit even to happen, traveling down the large Crystal outside and into the Crystal Infection across the land before it slowly turns back to lush greens and swimming brooks.
Seeing this, Razor-Leaf calls off the explosives at the last moment, commenting that those scrawny brats actually did it.
In front of Alice, Peter, and Cecil a portal opens back up to the bookshop, and the three kids tearfully look over the remains of Tinker before hugging Snowbell and the Professor. Just before they leave however, Cecil reaches down and grabs something before they all jump through the portal.
The kids are transported right back to the bookshop, with Mister Reed popping in and asking if the story was a good one. "It was...memorable." Cecil says slowly, placing a hand on Alice and Peter's shoulders.
The trio return to school, Alice talking with her guidance counselor about how her parent's divorce makes her feel, Peter managing to make a triple play because he thought before he acted, and Cecil scaring off his bullies with a fake hand that detaches from his wrist that he makes the bullies believe is his real hand as they run off in horror.
The kids meet up at Cecil's place, both Alice and Peter wondering what Cecil has been dying to show them. Cecil, excitedly, says he's spent the whole week working on this, and brings them over to his desk where...there's a small miniature Tinker looking up at them and moving about ."Ya know, I said I needed to go on a diet, but this is a bit too far." The mechanical dinosaur jokes while the three kids happily hover around him.
The End.
