Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Ok, let's ask the voters of my plan then...

Guys, are you against me doing what I said numerous times through this vote (including in the post that had this plan) that I will do, and add to my plan new investment opportunities that I may think about or that someone may suggest?

@Krumpwoman69 @Whenyouseeyou @Rui @NightOwl3713 @Poke_verse @bryanfran36 @werff @DXCS @Heinrich @Carcer
i'm all for adding new stuff we got billions, could as well do fun stuff with it,also action efficient.

So, If we're want to end the video game crash in our favor, we're gonna need to be able to put consoles on shelves of retailers. The Lucas Umbrella will not be enough for people to trust a console. We have to package it with toys, like the NES with ROB the Robot and the Zapper gun. But what to include?

Btw, @Carcer is Burger King still gonna make Happy Meals here?

So I just want to let you all know I've gotten some complaints from people who say that the Console we have is far to advanced... and well, to show you are still on the cutting edge.

You all are at the latter end of the sega systems for the Genisis...

Still the absolute cutting edge of the era... but not so ahead you are bullshit.

That won't come till later. :V

Also, calling the vote.
Adhoc vote count started by Magoose on Oct 4, 2024 at 1:39 AM, finished with 307 posts and 22 votes.

  • [X] Plan: Getting Stingy Now is DUMB!!! (And an AP Waste...)
-[X]The Movie Writers Room Extravaganza: So the writer's room needs to be expanded… Holy fuck, does it need expanding. So you do the only thing that can be done. You take a look at expanding them, but spending tens of millions of dollars. Cost 400 million (The Writer's room will no longer produce films every six months, any film can be made without the script malus as there is now hundreds of writers and scripts being produced or purchased at a rate that is dizzying.)
-[X]The TV Writers Room Extravaganza: So Brandon basically came to you and needed to do one thing. He needs to upgrade and hire over a thousand tv writers for the shows that you want to produce in the future. And that means… well he needs money to expand. Cost 300 million (The TV writers room will see a large increase in quality.)
-[X] Pixar Computers: So Pixar needs more powerful computers. And Apple is offering at a discount. Cost 50 million dollars (Pixars quality increases)
-[X]LucasArts Expansion: The Lucasarts branch needs an expansion. So now its time to give them some love. Cost 100 mil (Can now produce three video game projects at once.)
-[X] Marvel Manga: A Bridge between the east and the west web-slung with care and woven into a weekly magazine. Excelsior! Cost 200 million. (Found Magazine in Japan. Gain Manga artists and writers for Eclipse Imprint)
-[X] ILM Fashion Department: a department of Industrial Light and Magic that specializes on the art of creating costumes and props. While technologically ILM is making the most visually beautiful movies, the high-definition quality won't matter if the audience doesn't suspend their disbelief when looking at the characters. Just as a magician needs their trusty cape and wand to sell the act, so too must our characters dress and operate with authenticity whether it be historical accuracy, fantastical realism or contemporary storytelling... So better to make sure that the tailors, leatherworkers, blacksmiths, make-up artists, hairdressers, and everyone involved in this essential process have available not only the best material and equipment that the money can buy, but that that they are well paid foe their jobs. Cost $150 Million
-[X] Lucasfilm´s PR department: After a lot of effort even Bruce O'Brian has been convinced of the importance of managing your public persona correctly, and what better way of doing it than by hiring an expert to do it? Whereas anyone in Hollywood can get a rather decent PR team for $5 million or less, it is wise to spend significantly more to make sure your team is one of the best in Hollywood. Cost $20 Million.
-[X] Sega Arcade Saloon Extravaganza: Even with the revolution that home consoles have been, video arcades are still very popular and they will be for many years, and they only way that millions of children have to experience video games... Sega has a stellar trajectory as a developer of arcade games and machines as you can see in their spectacular Arcade Saloons in Japan, building some of them in teir likeness in the States (and eventually the world) seems like a good investment. Cost $500 million.
-[X] Lucasfilm´s advisory committee of experts (AKA The Council of Elders): Lucasfilm is a studio that cares to portray things in their movies with as much historical and scientific realism as possible (within reasonable limits) and is committed to making faithful adaptations... So it is well worth it to have several university teachers and other scholars in several fields (Physics, archeology, history, literature...) in your call to serve as consultants... Cost $50 million.
-[X] LucasDorms: A very cozy habitation complex adjacent or otherwise very close to the other facilities. Welcome to anyone who needs a quick nap or a place to stay. Very appealing to young aspiring actors, writers and other artists coming in from afar with stars in their eyes, ideas in their heads, and passion in their eyes. Includes a very expansive, dining area boasting a restaurant-tier buffet and a well-equipped gym. All financed by Lucasfilms' success. Cost $50 million.
-[X] LucasLounge: A complex consisting of multiple entertainment and recreational facilities ranging from tabletop, board and video game rooms, PC and console stations, at least two pools, a library filled to bursting with books and luxurious reading nooks, a music archive and listening booths, an arcade, and, naturally, multiple private and sizeable cinemas to watch the Lucasfilms movie and TV media roster. At this point, you're just pampering your people. Cost $50 million.
-[X] Solo Studio. With the creation of Star Wars level movies increasing in quantity, it is vital to have an in-company sound stage to meet prodution needs. Construct a sound stage within Los Angeles County, or if not feasible a nearby county to have appropriate scenes be filmed locally. $200 Million
-[X] Purchase the remainder of Debbie's films: You want to make sure her great career is a part of Lucasfilms history and honor Debbie the way she deserves. $40 Million.
-[X] Acquire the rights for The Adventures of Tintin for $50 million
-[X] Acquire the rights for the complete works of H.P. Lovecraft for $100 million
    [X] Plan Expand! Expand! Expand
-[X]The Movie Writers Room Extravaganza: So the writer's room needs to be expanded… Holy fuck, does it need expanding. So you do the only thing that can be done. -[X] Dream Parks Division: George has been inspired to create a whole new type of ride merging ILM's technology with motion simulators. A true revolution in rides. However, Mike (after a huge fight) got a promise from him that no one at Lucasfilm would help out the House of Mouse by giving them a Star Wars ride in their themepark. What to do?

A moment to say this.

Motherfuckers really did it.
Huh, well what do you know...

Still, at least the plan has everything I wanted, so I can roll with it.

Plus, with the Lovecraft rights with us, I can finally start working on some movie and TV Series pitches that includes the material.
So I just want to let you all know I've gotten some complaints from people who say that the Console we have is far to advanced... and well, to show you are still on the cutting edge.

That won't come till later. :V
Ah, shite. At least we still have enough processing pwer for our current games, as well as 8 to 16 bits. Perhaps 32 bits if we push it.

We can still do some nifty games with it.

You have it all.

Just saying.

Even the fringe stuff.
Ah, shite. At least we still have enough processing pwer for our current games, as well as 8 to 16 bits. Perhaps 32 bits if we push it.
and then Kojima got an idea... Maybe. :V

Meanwhile at Lucasarts:

Kojima: Our hardware sucks! How can I tell my stories with this!?

Meanwhile at Square:

Sakaguchi: HOLY FUCK Its 16 bit... look at the fucking colors!

... We own Lovecraft now...

Oh hoho, there is no way that they can keep The Sinking City from being sold now!

... I thought Sqaure died and we got everyone to work for us.
and then Kojima got an idea... Maybe. :V
...This reminds me that for all that we have Kojima, as well as the creators for Megaman and Castlevania with us, we will never have Shigeru Miyamoto, and thus never reach the heights of The Legend of Zelda.

...I need a moment.

I was initially going to comment on this tomorrow to allow more time to pass to better illustrate my point, but with the vote being called now, I'll just do it now.
Ok, let's ask the voters of my plan then...

Guys, are you against me doing what I said numerous times through this vote (including in the post that had this plan) that I will do, and add to my plan new investment opportunities that I may think about or that someone may suggest?

@Krumpwoman69 @Whenyouseeyou @Rui @NightOwl3713 @Poke_verse @bryanfran36 @werff @DXCS @Heinrich @Carcer
I think it's rather telling that after more than 6 hours has passed, only 4 out of the 10 people you directly @'d actually answered and more than half of those people who didn't respond haven't been on for days while the other half just straight up ignored it to not say anything.

... I thought Sqaure died and we got everyone to work for us.
Well they are Lucasarts Japan...

And I'm basically calling them Square internally, for my continuity's sake.

Also, they also call themselves "The Fantasy Team" (As their only Project is called Final Fantasy) "Square" (Internal team name) "High Noon" (A Play on Sunrise and Sunset)
...This reminds me that for all that we have Kojima, as well as the creators for Megaman and Castlevania with us, we will never have Shigeru Miyamoto, and thus never reach the heights of The Legend of Zelda.
...

Never say that, never fucking say that.

Because Goddammit the Dice will hear you and make things worse! Or better.
How fast do you think Lovecraft grave is spinning after hearing that his books are now owned by an Irish Man?
A Lot slower then you think, considering that it would be a lot faster if Mike were the one proposing it (Because you know, Mike is Jewish)

But its still enough to kill one of his gods.

Not as fast as knowing that they are also owned by a Jew... and who have made movies and series with interracial couples.
Never say that, never fucking say that.

FORGIVE ME OH DICE GODS!!! 😱

I like this. Having different names for our teams is something whimsical and fun that I hope we can keep when we continue into making games for the 2000s and beyond.

Turn 107 (June 1983)
Turn 107 (June 1983)

You really think you need to stop spending billions of dollars… your competition really needs to catch up a little bit.

But hey, you didn't care. The thing you worried about is one thing…

Well, one thing more than… because honestly, you were just worried that things were about to go to shit.

"I just got off the phone with some Japanese Buissnes in the entertainment industry… uh, Nintendo, you're going Bruce." Mike said.

"Why Me?"

"Because they asked for you personally, and they won't return my calls. I think the rumor is that their president is scared of me for some reason."

"Gee, I wonder why?" You snarked. "But I'm about to go to Italy for Conan."

"Take the long way, I don't care," Mike said. "Just don't fuck this up! They have some ideas that I want to profit from and explore for genuine artistic interest."

"Is it because one of the guys got that silly comic you want to turn into something for your kids?" You asked.

"I don't ask why you do anything Bruce! So let me have my secrets."

You face palmed. "Whatever you say mike."

Note that this is something I am saying no.

No you cannot use omakes to make the nintendo action autopass.

There is a reason for that.

I'm leaving it solely to the dice.

I'm really glad to see that the quest updated today. I've had a kinda shitty day, so it's nice to see and helps lift my spirits a bit. Spent all day going around trying to find places that would take my new eye care insurance and couldn't find jack shit and so I still don't have new glasses after like a month.

Alright guys, we are about to make history with our console, and this is the beginning for something great for LucasArts.

As such, I think we should call our console, The Genesis. it rolls of the tongue, it shows that this is just the beginning for our company, and I like the idea that we can (if our meeting with Nintendo flunders) still use the "Genesis does what Nintendon't" comercial.

As for games that are also arcades: Bomberman and Mr. Goemon were originally Arcade games in OTL, so they fit the bill.
