Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Something else I've also thought guys. If we're going to release our Console, then we should have more than just a single game for it. We should either begin work on more games to release, or start speaking to different thrid party developers so that they can design games for our new console.

Activision could be a good option, and we can speak with Atari to license some of their games as well. Taito is another good option, considering that they made Space Invaders, and will make good sequels for it as well.

Another Arcade game could also be 'Karateka' that Mechner should have designed for us.
Oh Reanimator is a must, and Housing Complex C is a ok Lovecraftian horror anime if we want to do our own stuff.

And I've always had an idea to do The Color From Outer Space in black and white. You know because in a world of black and white any color at all would be freaky.
We could try the Call of Ctulhu in the 20s style, with no sound and black and white as well.
@overmind can you update your Big five little Three post? I think there's enough changes since 1980 to update the Rankings.
Pretty sure that Kaiser Chris was the one who made that post.
Yep, that was @Kaiser Chris , not me.

Nintendo only had like a dozen or so games on the NES when it first came out, and that sold like freaking hotcakes.

But it really didn't kick off until Mario came to the picture.

Quick question, does anyone know the current state of the AIDS epidemic inside the quest? If i remeber my History correctly, i should already have started around 1983

I thought it had at least 30. Man, my knowledge is rusty!

Alright, then we should at the very leat have 3 big ones. But Final Fantasy alone should be enough.

Is it stilll in 8-Bit? At the very least there should be no glitches or blinks in the game. Only the best for LucasArts after all.

...Hey, can we do the "LucasArts Seal of Quality" for our games, like Nintendo would do for theirs?
... nothing is stopping you from making it, besides the fact that Ace Attorny is really.. really for a Japanese audience.
Eh, they said the same about Final Fantasy and RPG Videogames back in the day. It should be fine.

We should have more knowledge around 1985.

that won't be adressed until 1985... as the reward explained earlier.

But know that there will be a lot more happy ending on this side...

But not every story being a happy ending.

How hard would it be to port a game from arcade cabinet to console? If it's not to hard we could have a few of those Maybe create a "game bundle" with some of the simpler games on one cartridge.

Our console is top of the line Genesis pushing it into the edges of the next gen console, and Genesis managed to port many of the Arcade games to them, so it should be possible for us.
What are you thinking in regards to those big 3 titles?
Prince of Persia would be a good one in my opinion. Perhaps Nidhogg or a Star Wars game as well.

Then again, we could make Mega Man or Snatcher as a first one by Kojima.

We could also use some of his first games, like that one about the Penguin, or Ice Climbers (hey that one could also be done for the Arcade!)

...We should really organize our videogame projects.
What if you wanted a really fun 8-Bit Retro game but God the Game Dev said:
Is it odd that I still want it to be in 8-bit? I really want to show our games evolving in our console.

Those are all fine games, but I wouldn't really call most of them "Big 3" material. Final Fantasy is one, I'm pretty sure you made a Mega Man pitch a while back, right? That would work too. In regards to a third for our "Big 3" amongst our launch titles, I see no reason why we couldn't create Sonic earlier.

When do you think we should do Castlevania?

Well, there's nothing that says we couldn't do Castlevania now, then again I want to organize all our games also to make sure we have all info as to what we can do.

As for Sonic, I want him to be released later on, perhaps as a response to Mario, or by the second half of the 80s. When Sonic debuts, it needs to be on his own since he will overshadow any other game that comes out with him as well.

Considering how much more mature anime and cartoons is accepted in this TL, it might be possible to make some of Lovecrafts shorter stories that are not long enough for full movies or series, like Cats of ulthar, into an anthology series.

That's the difference between American companies assuming the average customer is a moron vs being aware of just how much cultural knowledge is assumed and required for most humour to work.
It's entirely Possible, but the localisation process for AA is actually the more difficult of the two to do well. Probably, anyway.
