Frieza's first form had a power level of 530,000. One of these scouts has a power level of 500,000 the Galaxy has gotten alot stronger in general.

[X] Try to get the three scouts you've broken through to to stand down entirely and surrender at once. It will basically announce that a fight is about to begin, but cut the scouts' numbers very neatly. You're certain you can manage this, the way things are right now.

Even though this isn't the the most negotiate-y of options, I'm feeling a lot better about it than "maybe try to widen the schism"; and I'd much rather take the guaranteed small victory we've already achieved diplomatically here than risk it big on the "total de-escalation" plan, which I could see leading to very bad things if it failed.

And while I do like the safe option of "spring the trap, save the civilians", I think I'll give it a miss for now.

Makes sense. After the whole Universe Survival tournament, Beerus and the Kai's probably take their jobs more seriously, especially regarding power levels.

To be fair, the scouts are probably among the strongest soldiers in the army- strong enough that they could plausibly conquer a whole planet by themselves if it doesn't have good defenses, and strong enough to not just die if they happen to run into any truly amazingly powerful beings.

Meanwhile, I know Frieza's first form (and for that matter his second and third forms) were in effect masks for his real power. He may not have actually been the strongest being in the galaxy in his first form, but it just didn't matter. Because in the rare event that he encountered anyone capable of threatening him in those forms, he'd keep breaking out more and more transformations and unleashing more and more of his power until he capped out at, like, 200 times that level.

That said, yeah the galaxy seems to have escalated. Not denying that.

Been centuries, and Ki Mutants tend to have kids who inherit the mutation.

Also, large degrees overall due to conflict. After the PTO collapsed, two of his former soldiers going from around the level of the Ginyu Force (45,000 to 55,000) to equal to Frieza's First Form (530,000), who can fuse together into an even stronger form. And several of Sorbets subordinates went from "mook" to "rivals Dodoria and Zarbon".

Where as before, the PTO crushed everything, especially thanks to Frieza and his family wiping out the strongest enemies/potential rivals, now everyone has been competing, with those that survive improving.

So, in essence, the galaxy has been undergoing an extreme case of survival of the fittest: those who a strong live to reproduce, with the children repeating the process.

And something I've mentioned before, but bares repeating: the Scouts ended up here, their absolute last measure. Everywhere else was too strong for them. So these guys aren't representative of the average strength of the galaxy.

Not sure that whole arc is going to be canon. There's a few things that don't fit with this quests timeline, so we probably diverged sometime before it. Hell, not sure the Zamasu arc is canon.

Also, if they were doing their job properly, the galaxy would not be in the state it is.
I mean, christ, it's probably tanking the universes Mortal Level even further.

Spoilers. Please put spoilers in spoilers. If it hasn't been dubbed in English, put your Super spoilers in spoilers. That is the rule and it's also basic courtesy.

EDIT: This extends to quotes. If you're quoting something that is a spoiler to undubbed Super, put that quote in a spoiler.

I wouldn't refer to anything talked about as a spoiler, but to each his own. Though, seriously, 74 episodes behind, what the fuck.

I stopped watching because of problems with the site I was watching on, then I just kinda didn't pick it back up again since this quest went on hiatus. Catching up now, but since I don't know if something been dubbed or not, I thought I'd give a warning since it's definitely after Frieza shows and does stuff.

I figure that the scouts are among the stronger warriors in the alien army, simply because it'd be unwise to send weaklings out on an independent mission with no backup. Not at the top of its pyramid, but say in the top 10-20% of its power level distribution. Mostly, anyway.

Moreover, those are the warriors. Remember, the alien army probably includes a fairly large number of civilians and dependents and technical supporters who do not themselves have any ki powers at all, and may have negligible ki power potential. They're on the move and running from something, but that doesn't mean that any single individual member of the alien army is weaker than all the members of the pursuing army.

It's entirely possible that the warriors of this army are part of a ragtag refugee fleet on the run from a huge swarm of individuals none of whom have a power level over 150,000. Because that swarm is so numerous that unless you have individuals on the level of Frieza or a fully powered saiyan (or super-saiyan), they can still kick your ass. Plus each individual can fire planet-devastating ki blasts, so actually holding any single location against them.

The combined inhabitants of ten planets with a few hundred defending ki warriors each, whose power levels run from 100,000 to a million... might still be helpless in the face of, say, ten thousand ki warriors whose power levels are at a uniform 200-300 thousand. They might still end up evacuating and looking for a new place to live.

...

So it's totally true that the galaxy must be a 'tough place' given that this alien scout squad is stronger than the Ginyu Force and they're just the advance guard. But we shouldn't make too many assumptions about exactly what kind of problem they're running from.

Hell, they could be running from something that ki users can't actually fight directly, like a supernova threatening to turn their planets into wastelands, or some kind of plague that wiped out half the quadrant before all the individual planets could institute quarantine measures.

So... any idea what to do with Jaron and the rest of the misfits? Because when they were discussing Karen and Maya spending time away from the group I don't remember them fighting aliens coming up as a possibility. They might be... a bit upset that we didn't tell them. Jaron on top of that showed power and might have noticed a few things about himself that might be explained with ki. Plus, he has showed he can use it which would probably make him a person of interest for the aramaian government and he is still trasteian.

We teach them ki and become superheroes.

Obviously.

I'll close at the end of the day. In the meantime, folks, with my other quest closing down I've started a new one: Terminus Quest, a CKII-style empire quest set in the universe of Mass Effect. If that interests you at all, get over over and take a look.

Not teaching them ki up until now has been my biggest gripe with the quest until now. We might be able to get dad's permission to teach them after this negotiation is over with, stating that we want our friends to be able to defend themselves if something like this happens again.

With the masquerage broken Maya will likely start teaching them even without our input. Well unless she thinks it is something that only some people can learn.

We don't have to convince the leader not to fight. We just need to convince him he doesn't have to. Or not right now.
1) He's raging about how cruel the universe is. And so his response is to come here and cause the very cruelty he despises?
2) It might be true that our races have to fight. Admit this. But we don't yet know this, neither him nor us. Because he won't talk to us. If he wants our nuclear waste to power his spaceships, well you can just have it. Maybe what you want is something we'd like to give you. You don't know, you haven't asked, just assumed through the lens of your own cultural assumptions in interpreting our society, which it is painfully obvious you don't understand well and are at best seeing only half of because there's a whole other species here in hiding among them as you just found out now. So you are operating on false intel which you've made your decisions on thus far. Do you want a place to run and hide and be safe from the cruel universe, where you can stand and fight back and say No, universe. Here, we fight back. Because if so, welcome the hell aboard, that's what we're doing and we'd be glad to have you by our side to talk down the next set of refugees. Or to kick the ass of the next set of invaders. Which future would you rather be a part of? The one where we accept refugees like you, or the ones where invaders like you get squished? This is your chance to start changing the universe instead of being the problem you're fleeing from.
3) I'm telling my men to stand down. They're in position, but they will not strike first, only on my command or on your attack. Pause for effect. Then display mild impatience. Now it's your turn. Stand down. If you attack us, you will lose here and now. If you choose not to, we might all win here and now.
4) Keep up the princess thing.

Compliant Omake: A Scout Leader's Thoughts
This is something I just cooked up, while I was wondering why the Scout Leader hadn't already attacked yet. Not good, but I'm a beginner writer, and I needed to get something out. Incidentally, I rolled for gender, due to having no idea of what they canonically are.

The situation had deteriorated horribly, and Songs-through-murky-water wasn't sure how to deal with it. His team was squabbling like children, all due to a few words from an actual child, which was new one he had to admit.

What irked him was that any of them were actually trusting the word of this child. The appearance of honesty does not equal actually being honest, that was a basic lesson, and while he internally admitted she was probably being honest, that didn't mean she had the ability or authority to do anything. However, far more importantly, she was a child, and one of only several there. They had come here seeking a hostage and source of information, and instead had found 3 children, each strong enough to be their target, if any were! Perhaps their actual target was in one of the other groups, or indeed one of the adults and chosen not to reveal himself.

That was the only reason he hadn't already attacked, quite frankly. With the ability to hide their power level, he had no idea how many other beings capable of threatening them were already present, just waiting to ambush them, insteadly of stupidly rushing towards his team like the children had done. The girl that talked to his team was confident afterall, when before, she had been as nervous as the others, meaning something had reassured her.

In the end, faced with too many unknowns, he fell back to his old stand-bye: wait while recording and transmitting everything. Even if the worst was to happen, the Fleet would be prepared. This world would be theres. They had no other choice.

But that still left one remaining question: go down fighting, retreat or surrender?

Nice. Just for that, have a, "Compliant," and a Greater Bonus towards any actions trying to sway the leader.

 Now I'm embarrassed. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed in it. Like, I've been imagining this entire history, from when they were a child and their planet was enslaved by the PTO, being forced to serve as part of it, rejoicing as it falls apart and becoming part of something better, enjoying the peace that the existence of Super Saiyans resulted in, despair as it all went to shit, and just this slow gradual slide down over centuries while all dreams of peace and mercy die, all feeding into each other to show how they got here, but I can't get it out. The words just don't come, and it's like trying shove a painting through the wet, dirty pipe that is my writing skills and ADHD, with all I end up with at the end is this ripped up sludge, and it's really frustrating and upsetting.
