Yeah, it's difficult to find examples since Goku spends so much time in SSJ3 or 4 in GT, but if you look at his fight with Super 17, there's a part where he's regular super saiyan, and there he still has a brown tail.

Fair enough, I guess I mis-read your point. It read like you were saying "tail + SSJ = brown tail." My bad.
That being said... since you did bring video games in as a source, I would like point out that in certain games we see SSJ3s with brown tails. (SSJ3 Bardock being one example. The DragonBall Heroes video that first introduced SSJ3 Bardock had him with a brown tail.)

Can you add the Seers using the ship to scry the past and see what happened? That way we'll get information that can narrow down the search and also get images of our enemies which can be used to enhance any divination we do.

Just an idea but if we really want to save that extra action, maybe we could try talking Dad into organizing the searchers instead of doing it ourselves? If we manage to talk him into doing the managing, it would probably take less of our time...

Eh, while I don't like how many actions the patrol takes, the initiative we are showing in doing it, and the boost to the actual changes of catching these guys before they leave and report, makes it worth it in my view. I'd rather drop one of the Tien's Style actions to contact Jaffur.

Fair enough. Honestly, though I could go either way, I do personally lean towards doing it ourselves too. I just figured I'd offer an alternative to those who didn't like the scouting option at all and were just acquiessing to it because everyone else wanted it... a one-action choice is a lot more palatable than a two, after all.
Pretty sure this is unnecessary because ki sensing also gives you a sense of distance to the ki source in addition to the direction of it. Triangulation is for figuring out the location of something when you only have one or the other... with both, you already have the location i.e. it is X meters in Y direction.
