Sensei is making a rather large assumption. That our seer ability will develop at the pace his training dictates.

[X] Accept Sensei's judgment. Train your Sight as normal for the year.

I think fast as we might be, he's far more aware of the risks and pitfalls.

They're neccessary in popular quests to prevent bandwagoning, and people voting then never turning up until the update.

Patience Padawan!

They have a rather important role in spurring discussion.

Otherwise things like plan Fuck Da World might get approved!
Actually no it doesn't - the main thing it accomplishes is stopping people who might want to vote but don't have the damn time to keep their attention on the thread for that long from playing. Some people only have a small window of time each day to allot to SV and if the game they love posts during that time? Well they're fucked because they might have to go to work or eat dinner or go to bed before that fucking moratorium is over. The vote closes before they have the time again and they lose out on being able to influence the game. Or if you're like me and have a fucking hundred different things updating across multiple sites each day and need to work through it all so that a backlog doesn't build up.

Not really? If we get through all the stuff super quickly, we would get to learn projection earlier. He's just saying that we're going to follow the accepted order for training rather than jump ahead.

While I'm all for doing some more conspiracy-ing and, as our illustrious author put it, "being the shadowruns"... this really doesn't seem like the right time or place to attempt to bring Sensei into the conspiracy.

I'm sorry to hear that, but ultimately I do have to agree with the others. Before I instituted the moratoriums I had some serious problems getting discussion going, both here and in my other quest. If it helps, as veekie mentioned I typically leave a full day or two of open voting time before closing it up. People with very little time per day will still have time to log on and make their voice heard.

For that matter, the post of yours I'm quoting was posted after the voting went open. I appreciate that you're busy, but I'm doing what I can to accommodate that and make things easier on you while still stimulating conversation.

So, you hate moratoriums because they successfully accomplish exactly what they're intended to?

Voting has somewhat stalled. Here is the current tally, with all valid votes.

Total No. of Voters: 9

Thin turnout. I'm somewhat wary that this is due to a perception of a bandwagon; people came out early and heavy in support for accepting Sensei's judgment. The vote will remain open for quite some time yet; the leading option only has eight votes, and the update has- *checks* -thirty-two ratings. And some people don't even rate updates. If a significant portion of readers would care to vote differently, now's the time. ;) Then again, perhaps you all are content with your teacher's judgment and are happy to see it winning. We'll see given some time. :D

Dunno, which to vote for... on the one hand risk, on the other hand trained seer who can check stuff.

And on the the third flipper he probably already knows so

Better idea.
