That's meant to reserve judgement, for I have not read most of the non-story posts, or even all of the story posts leading up to the incident, only the particular discussion surrounding the event and small parts of reference to it. I said supposedly because I don't myself know if they did or not, as I am not acting synchronously with them or reading in the same place as them.

Indeed it is. And I feel it very inappropriate to activate it in this particular circumstance, which is why I asked about voting against that. You know, with my vote. Which I get to make (assuming voting was still open, but it isn't, so that doesn't matter). It's okay with you if I also play this quest, yes?
And you also get to critique my voting choices, so it's okay with you if I share the same ability isn't it? After all it wouldn't be much of a vote if it wasn't discussed.

Non-Canon Omake: Super Elite Special Justice Force!!
Super Elite Special Justice Force!!

Setting
Central City! The biggest city on North Continent, Central City is a place of opportunity for many who want a better life, but dark times have begun. Crime is on the rise and it's not safe to walk at night any more. Supervillains have started popping up and it's all the police can do to keep the peace.

One day a group of good-hearted kids got together and decided to do something about it. With their extensive martial arts training they would fight crime and free their city from this wave of terror, and so began the legend of these mighty power-posing heroines! Paragons of good, the bane of all evildoers, these masked vigilantes are known as...the Super Elite Special Justice Force!!! (Or just the Justice Force for short.)

Members of the SESJF
Captain Power - The leader. An inspiration to her team and an excellent fighter, it was Captain Power that came up with the idea for the Justice Force and taught her friends how to pose like true heroes. Also manages the team's Spacebook page. She has a special move called the Powerbomb Kick - a powerful spin kick that hits like a truck! Secret identity: Sophie Schultz.

White Mage - The medic. She carries around medical supplies to fix people up and is way good at it. She's sworn the Hippocratic Oath and can only punch people if they punch her first or if she really really wants to. Secret identity: Karen Daucus.

Mousy - The (metapohrical) team pet. Mousy is supremely adorable. Secret identity: Maya Webley.

Bright Smile - The comic relief. She often uses pranks and cunning to subdue criminals, telling the best (read: corniest) jokes and puns all the while. Secret identity: Jennifer birch.

Bookworm - The smart one/one who wears glasses. Has a wide knowledge of things like hacking, machines, and random pieces of trivia which occasionally help the Super Elite Special Justice Force save the day and stop the villain. She uses her computer skills to make it look like the group's doing normal things when out protecting the city. Secret identity: Gemina Kostos.

Independent Heroes
Masked Fox - A hero that wears an identity-concealing fox mask that operates in Central City. He fights crime but unlike the Justice Force he works alone, though occasionally he finds himself fighting the same criminals the Justice Force does. He and Great Saiyagirl 1 are abrasive to each other since they always get in each others' way when they go after the same person. No one knows his secret identity, but it certainly isn't Jaron Somerland! They might both be blonde-haired boys with the same height and near-identical voices but Jaron is way too reserved and shy to be the cool, confident, and assertive Masked Fox! Secret identity: Jaron Somerland. ((OOC note: Becomes Prince Badman after his mother is destroyed/put away for good? Maybe just a one-episode thing?))

Silent Sword - A mysterious swordswoman (or rather, swordsgirl) who never speaks and is the sole protector of West City. She's quick, smart, and somehow never does more than bruise people despite using her sword's edge and it being quite sharp. She's a great fighter and a match for any in the Super Elite Special Justice Force. Secret identity: Felicity Pisum. ((OOC note: Possible sixth ranger material.))

Villains
Lady Darkbad - The most evil person in the history of the world (according to herself), Lady Darkbad is a supervillain who uses magic to brainwash the citizens of Central City and make them hardened criminals. The Super Elite Special Justice Force has always been there to foil her plans, but she manages to escape justice every time. Outside of her criminal life she pretends to be a sweet, caring housewife with a loving husband and two nice children. Secret identity: Jaron's mother!? They don't know of each other's alter egos as of yet and that's probably a good thing. Who knows what might happen if one or both knew about the other??

For a variety reasons, non-canon, but I enjoyed this. Lesser bonus goes to...call it convincing your friends to actually try this (please don't try to convince them of this unless you've gone ahead and taught them how to use ki, I don't want to write prepubescent children getting shanked...).

Bit late for this one, but that's my bad, I forgot to edit the vote's status on the last update. Next one'll be along tomorrow, though!

Well obviously it's non-canon :eyeroll:, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

Um...what? I mean I get this is Dragon Ball but this quest is quite a bit more into gritty realism than the material it's based on so I don't think we should or would ever vote to do this. Can the bonus go into socialising with the Misfits instead?

Its not really though, it just seems like it because of the Global PTSD.

Someone needs to teach Garenhilders how to dream again

*raises an eyebrow* "About what happened" huh?

What, exactly, are you referring to?
The YOUTHSUIT incident from that Naruto game we were talking about a little while ago. I don't follow the game myself but I do know enough about the YOUTHSUIT incident to recognise when it's happening.

Less a matter of tone and more one of, "They can't seriously think there's any other way this could end, can they?" Even in the actual run of Dragon Ball Z, unpowered person vs. man with gun = fatality. You can pull that right off of Hercule.

It still comes down to the fact that us convincing our friends is something we'd never vote to do, meaning the bonus would be wasted.

If someone made an AU omake where Kakara is evil, the bonus would be something that would enhance an evil action that Kakara takes. It is a wasted bonus because no one would vote for Kakara to be evil and the bonus would go unused. To not make it a wasted bonus and make the omake worth something tangible, the bonus can go to something morality-related that would actually happen, like preventing evil or turning someone from the path of evil.

EDIT: For the record, Goku didn't have ki when he got shot in the face by Bulma. You just need kung fu training to survive a gunshot, not ki.

Fairly sure he meant the whole "dress up and start acting as superheroes" thing.

Even though it has a "proud" history with Great Saiyaman and Great Saiyanwoman...

Ah, that's what you meant. I'll consider reallocating the bonus. It's not like teaching your friends how to use ki is completely outside the realm of possibility, though. Superheroes -- aping them, at least -- happens in Dragon Ball too. I imagine that there are some voters who would be thrilled to try. If a bonus is wasted, I'll flip it to something that doesn't waste it, never fear. If they're being consistently blown, I'll make them more general. I've said it before, here; I'm not out to get you all.

Case in point: the "evil Kakara" theoretical omake. No, the bonus wouldn't go towards enhancing evil actions -- and I am in something of a position of authority on that one. It would go to, say, ki projection training, from Kakara glassing a continent. I'm not going to give you bonuses that I have no reason to believe will ever be used. If I assign a bonus for something, that means the possibility has or will come up.

And I know Goku didn't have any mastery over ki when he was shot. I hesitate to chalk it up to kung fu training, though -- I myself am trained in martial arts, and more importantly know quite a few people who are significantly better than me, and neither I nor they would feel comfortable facing down a bullet. Dragon Ball isn't reality, of course, but I don't see evidence to suggest that I should treat it differently on this score. There was a reason I chose the example of Hercule. Unpowered but martial-arts-trained human vs. a bullet ends with Hercule needing a rez from Buu. Heck, Hercule performed a genuine flash step with no ki and couldn't move fast enough to dodge. I know that's impossible in reality, and it still wasn't enough. It can't just be martial arts that let Goku survive, or else Hercule would have spit the bullet out and laughed at it. After all, despite my annoyance with his character, I do acknowledge that he had several times more martial arts training than Goku did at the start of Dragon Ball.

I agree. Goku is a pure-blooded Saiyan and Ki-usage seems to come naturally to them. If anything, the fact that he wasn't flying and throwing ki-blasts from the beginning is a sign of just how bad he was at the beginning. I suspect brain damage and/or a damaged/malformed ki system.

Of course, that meant he had to learn the hard way, and we all know how that worked out for him in the long run.

Saiyans have an affinity for it, but they don't come with automatic knowledge of it.

Actually, Goku might have known about ki when he was shot, and while he might not have had as much training as Hercule, he presumeably had better training. Pretty sure he was trained by his ki-using grandfather, after all, while Hercule seems to have been mostly self-taught, and unlike Goku and his friends he presumably stopped trying to get physically stronger when he reached what he thought was the human limit. Roshi didn't teach Krillin (or Goku, for that matter) to harness ki, after all, but I'm pretty sure Krillin would have been able to take a bullet after Roshi's training. I don't think it matters if you can consciously use ki rather than whether or not you have a sufficiently high power level.

I don't think all Saiyans are naturally gifted at Ki-usage. Neither Vegeta or Gohan ever showed any kind of technique-copying, while Tenshinhan and to a lesser extent Krillin did.

The Saiyans would send out infants/toddlers with the expectation they would wipe-out the local population.
Great Ape likely had a lot to do with those expectations.

while Hercule seems to have been mostly self-taught
He was trained by a master but that master was killed by Mercneary Tao. Hercule himself barely survived.

He stopped training because he got lazy. He knew there was more to go because his daughter had surpassed him, even before she met Gohan.

Vegeta copied Krillin's Destructo Disk to take down Gohan.

We don't know that, actually, and the fact he knew that Krillin's Destructo Disk would kill Nappa makes me think he knew the move all along (this would explain how he knew it would have killed Nappa, at least).

I don't think he knew Videl had surpassed him, though he did know she was strong.

Vegeta copied ki sensing. Or at least figured out how to do it on Namek after he learned it was possible on earth.

Don't forget Goku copying the Kamehameha.

Krillin invented it I believe. I suppose it's possible he was familiar with Freeza's Death Saucer though...

Considering that a bullet hurt Videl the same as any normal human, it seems that it is just a matter of Goku having an extremely thick skull. This is not a terribly surprising revelation.
