One of the biggest arguments we have to convince them not to try to kill Dandeer imediantly is that she's a powerful sorceress who's had a long time to prepare defenses and contingencies against super saiyans so attacking her on prepared ground is a bad idea. Convince him to talk to his uncle to back up our claim.
So you think that giving her more time will help somehow?

[X] It's unlikely, but the Sealing could turn messy. Now that you know the kinds of things of which Dandeer is capable, you want to get the Misfits under cover, when the time comes. The issue is: realistically, this would involve giving them a fair amount of information on what's happening. Not all of it, but enough that they'd accept protection, even when you specifically exclude Jaron. Maya already knows enough that she'd figure it out. Gemma is smart enough that she might draw some conclusions, too.

I would very much like our friends not to end up casualties from this.

[x] You said you'd give Jaron time, but you said nothing about space. Spend as much time with your friend as possible, and support him.

No I'm saying that rushing at her in a rage is a bad idea when it's against the best sorcerer on the planet into whatever defenses or contingencies she has. During the beginning of this quest we thought of her as a negligible threat in a direct confrontation but over time we got hints about her real capabilities and now we know she soloed thousands of sorcerers because she lured them into a trap. She WILL have something ready for us, we've gotten too many warnings for her to not have something nasty or several somethings ready for us or any other super saiyan on the planet. One of which is probably a suicide play to take out the planet in case her other contingencies fail. We need to start thinking about worst case scenarios where she's concerned.

Think about what she did to all those sorcerers. Now think about how much time she's had to prepare for us.

[X] Jaffur intends to kill his mother. His recent terror for Jaron's sake only heightens his anger. You're worried that he'll blow the plan by going straight for Dandeer's throat the moment the Seal drops. Visit him again and talk to him. Try to convince him to stick to the plan.
[X] Meditate. You need to be centered, when this all comes due.

Pause For Breath
"I don't believe you."

You raise your hands in a gesture which you dearly hope looks placating. "Jaffur, just hear me-"

"I don't believe you!"

You sigh, leaning up against one of the rocks breaking up the endless white of your friend's mindscape and pinching the bridge of your nose.

Jaffur scowls. "You know damn well what she's done. What she's going to continue to do! And you think that you have the right to come in here and tell me that I don't deserve my revenge?!"

You snap your gaze up to his and narrow your eyes. "You know that's not what I said."

"No, you're just telling me what I can't do," he snarls, a bitter twist on those last two words. "What the hell, Kakara, I thought you were on my side!"

"I am!" you snap. "Just listen to me, okay?! I'm not telling you that you don't deserve to get even!" You pause, trying to calm down. Jaffur does the same, clearly taking his temper under a short leash. Once both of you have settled somewhat, you continue. "Look, just ignore whether or not I think it's the right thing to do, okay? We don't agree, and we're not going to."

Jaffur's lips twist, but he gives you a sharp nod nonetheless.

You nod back, breathing out more frustration. "Okay. What happens if you kill your mom, Jaffur?"

He blinks. "What?"

"What happens if you kill her?" you press. "Forget about getting my dad on board with Unsealing you. Forget about any objections he might have to you just vaporizing her without a trial. Let's pretend that when the Seal breaks and you instantly go for her throat -- and don't lie to me, I know you're going to-"

Jaffur closes his mouth, looking sheepish.

You glare at him. "Let's just pretend that she hasn't warded herself to protect her against a Super Saiyan coming after her out of the blue, after years of your grandpa wanting to kill her. Forget all of that, and assume that somehow, you manage to kill her without anything going wrong. What then?"

Jaffur looks troubled at the mention of wards, and you feel a little thrill of satisfaction that he clearly hasn't figured out a way around that possibility. He shakes his head. "What do you mean, 'what then?'"

"What happens once she's dead?" you ask.

"I rule," he says, looking away.

"That so?" you say, putting your hands on your hips. "We're killing your dad too, then?"

He turns back to you. "You know exactly how I feel about him," he snarls.
Deceit [Kakara vs. Jaffur]: 78 vs. 12.
You narrow your eyes at him, and he flinches a bit, breaking eye contact. You draw in a breath. "No, I don't think I do," you say, crossing your arms. "I know how you felt, when you first transformed. Now? I don't think you know how you feel about him. Valentine's a lot different than Vegeta, isn't he?"

"Shut up," he snaps, stung.

"You know that I'm right," you say. "You're starting to doubt. Enough that you'll stop and think about it when the time comes. So, already whatever you're going to do depends on what happens with your dad. Except...well, what does happen with your dad? Do you decide? When the first thing you did after getting out was blow your mom away? No, I think there'd be a lot of people telling you to let somebody else decide. What are you going to do? Listen to them, make it so that you can't know what's going to happen after your mom is gone? Tell them to shut up, start your Lordship by insulting the people who you're going to need in order to run things? And hey, if you override them and kill your dad, you start by killing both of your parents, and everybody's going to wonder if you're insane-"

"I KNOW!" he shouts. He snaps out a hand, unleashing a shockwave that tears up the ground for miles. "I know, alright?! I know it's not going to be easy. But what else can I do? She needs to pay for what she did! She's too dangerous for me to let live! I can't just let her go!" He takes a quick breath, gritting his teeth. "And if I don't kill her, Jaron will be out, and he's going to make her scream. He's going to rip her apart one layer of skin at a time. Are you up for fighting him, Kakara? For holding him down for as long as it takes for whatever you have in mind?"

"Yes," you reply.

Jaffur stops dead, staring at you. "...you...what? You'd...why?! Why do you care so damn much about this?! She's not worth it!"

"No, she's not," you reply. "I am. You are. I have my beliefs, and they don't stop because I don't like somebody. She's not worth it. Killing is wrong, Jaffur, and I'll fight you on this until you agree not to do it. I'll fight Jaron too, if I have to." You stare at him without blinking. "I will do whatever I have to; I won't let you make this mistake."

His mouth hangs open as he stares at you. "You...that's not how it works." He blinks, his scowl coming back. "She's too dangerous. I can't let her live."

"Sure you can," you say. "Seal away her magic. Banish her. You can overcharge your magic; now that you know how to use it, you can beat her no matter what she does."

His face twitches, and he moves on. One place where him knowing more -- a lot more -- about magic benefits you. He knows you're right in a lot more detail than you do. "I can't let people think that they can get away with stuff like this," he says.

"She already knew that she might die from doing this," you say. "She did it anyway. Knowing what she was risking didn't stop her at all."

He glares at you. "I'm not going to let her get away with this!"

"And she won't," you reply. "Put her on trial. Give her every chance. You know she won't get out of it. She can't. She's guilty. We know."

"Yes, and then she dies," he growls.

"Then," you say. "Then. Not right away. You don't make the first thing you do with your freedom be killing your own mother. If you put her on trial and decide to execute her, then I can't stop you. But she's already been telling people for years that you're insane. Don't give her room to prove the point."

He scowls at you, breathing deeply. "You'll still argue to let her go, if I put her on trial."

"I'll argue not to kill her," you correct him, crossing your arms. "But that's then."

He whirls away, snorting. "Right. And then I'll have to listen to this all over again." He folds his arms, keeping his back to you. The silence stretches. Eventually, he sighs. "Fine. I will not go off to kill her right away. I promise you nothing about later."

You nod, smiling. "We'll talk about that when the time comes."

He grumbles to himself. "Yeah, I know. Softhearted Gokun. Go play with a puppy or something."

You grin. "You shouldn't sulk, Jaffur."

He glares at you over his shoulder. "Get."

You laugh quietly, and step out of his mind.

Jaffur has been convinced not to tear off after his mother as soon as the Seal falls.

No vote this time, folks; I'm following up with the other two scenes next thing! Expect them later today!

I mean, nothing compels you to believe me, but it's advisable.
Here's the thing though:
Is it you, or is it Kakara? Because the option was framed as having been said and thought up by Kakara.
And she doesn't share the omniscience of the GM.

After all, one of the tags of the quest is [Unreliable Narrator].
It's a moot point now, but I wanted to make the point, because I have the sneaking suspicion it might be relevant in the future.

Why did we have to roll a Deceit check here?
