City Council - 1000 XP
Chicken Itza - 500 XP
Acme Delivery - 1000 XP

That's the allocation so far.

I think boosting Chicken Itza another 500 and then boosting AI research are the next best things to focus on. Maybe the Hawk action?

Quickly, I'm already feeling the onset of post-pre-update boredom!
How long does The Quest Master Almighty usually take after a vote to UPDOOT

Yes sir, it's either an absolute CATASTROPHE or if it hits that high, well, we're probably one step closer to sentience!
Well actually no, the overwhelmingly likely outcome is still "undramatic success filled with amusing mishaps." But we have made booming success eighteen times more likely, and utter catastrophe five times more likely.

...I never heard that simile before for that kind of concept...

Honestly, I´d havegone with *farmers* and *pigs* instead
In the United States during the late 19th and early 20th century there was a dramatic spread of street musicians playing portable street organs. Many of these street musicians employed trained dancing monkeys to enhance their performance and get more money from passersby. Thus, an "organ grinder" (the street musician) controlling a dancing monkey became something of a popular metaphor in American English.

But the point of the metaphor is that the monkey is active and performative and on casual inspection may seem to be acting independently... while in reality, they are controlled by the organ grinder. I wouldn't think a farmer/pig metaphor would have the same connotation.

...Ouch, that means that we should soon invest into our own battlesuit to address this issue and possibly save face before him - I´d rather not have our mutually-beneficialagreements being ruined because of something we had sitting on our menu for ages and that could be well in our grasp.
I mean maybe, though I wouldn't worry about it that much.

I haven't actually watched Gargoyles though I know it's got a very good reputation; my introduction to Xanatos comes entirely from a few "Best of" clips on YouTube. But it's very clear from watching the man in action even for half an hour of his most dramatic appearances that he respects both strength and cunning. As long as we act in a way that shows that we have some combination of strength and cunning, we will likely retain a reasonable degree of Xanatos' respect.

Syndrome failed utterly in both dimensions at the same time- he didn't have the personal strength to fend off attacks by capes, and he didn't have the cunning to prevent his enemies from tricking him into fatally sabotaging his own defenses. To make matters worse, he didn't have the good judgment to recognize a losing situation when he saw one. With his rocket boots, Syndrome could almost certainly have escaped the whole situation once things started to go south after the Omnidroids got bricked. Instead, he got distracted angrily kicking a bricked Omnidroid, then listening to his underling (Sinatron) tell him off, then got suckered into a fight with supers he lacked the power to defeat until one of them finally got him by the cape and put him down.

So from Xanatos' perspective, Syndrome reveals himself as a weakling (which is forgivable) and a fool (less forgivable). Moreover, he's a weak fool without the good sense to know when he's outmatched and salvage a partial victory out of a setback (contemptible; that's Xanatos' greatest strength and he probably knows it).

[I suspect Memetic Xanatos would have a trait like "all non-critical failures count as bare failures for purposes of DC reduction on subsequent rolls, and all critical failures inflict reduced penalties."]

...Now I wonder what had happened if Xanatos rolled *one point better* and had caught wind of our doings back then. Had he intervened on our behalf? Syndromes? His own? Or would he have simply filed that away for later use in his evaluation of Doofs true nature?
Hm. the two points at which Xanatos almost cleared a roll were:
1) When he rolled a 120 against DC 120 to keep his composure after we dumb-lucked into guessing important secrets about him (shit we almost made David Xanatos blow an Intrigue check!)
2) When we rolled a 111 against a DC 110 to keep him from spotting us stealing Syndrome's tech during the confusion. That was only a passive roll, not an actively opposed one, but I get what you're saying.

I assume you're thinking of (2). By that point it was probably too late to do anything to help Syndrome, even if he wanted to, which I doubt he would. In case (1), well, that wasn't a case of him almost deducing our secrets, that was a case of him barely managing to conceal the fact that we'd accidentally guessed his secrets in the process of casually blurting out our own.

*Gasp*

How mean...and after I voted for your plan too 😭

I've not felt this betrayed since I asked Santa Claus a ticket for an Hannah Montana concert and got one for some girl called Miley Cyrus instead. Worst halloween ever. 😤
You have my sympathies.

But the power of "I told you so" is a terrible and double-edged sword, with wickedly sharp edges fit to put even the flintiest and most terrible of claws to shame.

We must all of us wield it responsibly.

Even kittycats.

Probably she'll be doing either that or sorting through the Chicken Itza loot. And honestly, with Felldrake's guidance it's pretty likely she'll find further Occult-empowering devices in Chicken Itza anyway.

Also, since we're gonna clap the Diplo Double, I kindly AGRESSIVELY suggest recruiting Illegal Fireworks Supply, er, Agent F, er, My Lucky Self Ins-

KITSUNE

I have zero bias

You might be biased, but I think you're also right. Having a second occult hero with an actual bonus means that we can afford to have Janna do personal actions, or go on quests where her trait doesn't activate. Even if it's a comparatively weak 3 pip and it's only in the 16-20 range, that's still a solid buff - and with her pips across the board, she could also be a decent quest leader if we need to stack occult bonuses for a quest (like, say, further map locations).

*He glanced at his crystal chalice of 120% DV Sodium. Perhaps he had toasted for a truly good cause - After all, his post was the prime example of a no-thought blurt. And not ONE but TWO of the thread's top authorities had now thrown their hats in his ring.*

*Here's to Plan: THERE IS NO PLAN, long may it guide him.*

I know, what the deal is with dancing monkeys and organ grinders...I just never would have though of such a simile and vainly tried coming up with a substitute

I have to remind you that despite our sucesses lately, we are still Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, one of the most incompetent and hapless Disney villains of all times. Heck, it´s pretty much stated in the beginning of this quest that our ascendancy to Kingship was dumb luck of an extent that baffled even ourselves. So you´ll have to forgive some panic while dealing with David Xanatos, who is more or less our complete antithesis in terms of influence and abilities (even in terms of morals, he is quite a bit more ruthless than us despite his affableness).

Syndrome failed utterly in both dimensions at the same time- he didn't have the personal strength to fend off attacks by capes, and he didn't have the cunning to prevent his enemies from tricking him into fatally sabotaging his own defenses. There on the other hand I have to agree wholeheartedly, Syndrome definitely bit off more than he could chew (let alone swallow) back at the Sands and paid dearly for it - first with his health, then his control over Kronos and finally most likely his very life. Let his fate be reminder to all of us fellow Kings and Queens of the Wastelands once known as the USA that "overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer".

(sorry, got a bit into the reference game there)

Yes, I was talking about event (2), because I totally forgot the other one...my bad.

But yeah, the fact that DR. DOOFENSHMIRTZ almost caused DAVID XANATOS to lose control over the situation is funny on its own.

...I will readily admit to basing a lot of my plans around trying to not get outmaneuvered by Xanatos and being more than a little afraid of him...

@Made in Heaven I would like to spend my 500 XP on reducing the DC of Tarot Reading.

This action only has a 60% chance of success initially, so it's a pretty good one to boost via XP. Additionally, putting a full 1000 XP in would drop the critical success threshold from a 90+ roll to a 70+ roll, tripling the crit success chance. So if anyone's torn on what action to put their XP into, consider helping me fill up this one!
