In our rule we've improved Social Services, the Environment and helped stop a man trying to Genocide Supers.

Now (or soon) we're going to save a oppressed minority from being Gas Chambered.

We aren't evil we're just chuuni.
being a good person doesn't stop us being a villain. we are currently planning on breaking a mad scientist confict out of prison and our help involved stealing everything the man who hates supers had. yes we might do good things but we are still a villain

So why not set up some chuuni "crime"?

Also, for those of you objecting on the basis of "allowing any crime will let bad things happen" have a quote direct from the QM

Also, y'know, I made it so you're controlling it so you get control over what happens. It's not like I said [ ] Open cocaine dens or [ ] Run prostitution rings.
Establishing some organized Petty Evil that also serves as an early warning system for drug peddlers and hostile crime bosses seems pretty on-brand. Certainly no more objectionable then smothering natural sunlight with eternal smog across our domain.

Since everyone seems to be spinning their wheels on Vanessa, worrying about the Toon Railroad, or questioning the morality of subverting crime let me answer those questions in the following. Vanessa would get a prototype flying car out of it and as we know from the song "You're digging my ride from outer space," she would love it. Secondly as for sending either Russ or Mirage on Toon Railroad keep in mind that Russ has been made! That will almost certainly give him a malus on any quest in Doomtown. Thanks to Mirage being the woman in the chair no one knows she works for us. Finally there is one aspect to controlled crime that no one seems to understand. If we control it we decide what is okay and what is not. Brothels have mandatory health screenings. Loan sharks have upper limits. The worst parts of crime can be limited to be less harmful. Eventually criminals that are feeling the squeeze from the new players and increasing violence will also find sanctuary in our lands. This could possibly open up a rumor mill for us.
TL:DR. Given current events and known preferences Habstabs plan is currently the best one.

[X]Plan: Let's Maximize Our Results:

I'd rather crime adapts to serve us rather than have crime adapt to circumvent us. We're assimilating them not the other way around. What that means is we could funnel resource to more productive things. We set the do and don't of the underground, meaning we could potentially bar outside criminal elements from muscling in on Doofania.

If there is a drug trade then we can make drugs that won't F people up through the pharmacist (Doof) or magic or through handing it off to the think tank.

With protection rackets we can actually put up protection through tech or magic instead of just demanding money. We'd be giving an actual service. Plus it'd probably count towards setting up protection against any third party looking to stir up trouble in Doofania.

We can make the criminal underground work for us instead of getting rid of it.
That colon on the end of your vote is going to interfere with it being counted btw.

I'm going to need to hear what chuuni crime is before I support/counter that because I'm drawing a blank.

Also one of my previous posts touched on this but assimilating crime could seriously damage our relationship with Vanessa.

In the series she was regularly trying to convince her mother we were evil. A major development has presumably happened during the fall and that was probably Doofs reaction to Perry's death.

I think she's come to realise what she considered evil and we consider EVIL are two very different things. Getting involved with Mafia and Yakuza types could seriously damage the connection they've built.

Vote changed.

ultimately we are a ruler and unlike the other kings we are openly one. if it gets out that we support crime it will backlash hard its a weakness other kings and the government can use against us.

[ ] Establish a Formal Spy Network:
DC 115

It occurs to you that you now have several sneaky people willing to do your bidding, and even more sneaky stuff that needs done. It may be time to establish a formal network of informants, agents, and contacts rather than just asking Russ every time a bit of skullduggery needs done.

(Reward: Unlocks a second intrigue action per turn and unlocks the Spymaster position.)
I would like to point out that, as I explicitly said earlier in a different post
Yes, you can say "assimilation" gives you contacts, but that's what building our intrigue network is for....while networking outside of Doofania

establishing a spy network is a separate action and can be done regardless of whether we assimilate organized crime in Doofania. Presenting it as an "either we eliminate organized crime OR we gain contacts" situation is a bit of a dishonest move. You can demonstrate it as an easier way of establishing connections since that would probably be true, but that's not the same thing as the rather absolutist stance of "if we don't control crime, we won't be able to build a network" that you guys have been taking.

There's a lot of hero units that might be upset if we go through with it. Goofy, Monogram, Hego, Dennis, Maybe even Vanessa and Mirage. And they probably will find out, because on that list is Russ.

We can make those mafioso's completely toothless if we play our cards right. If we assimilate crime then we know every single member of the organization that means at any given point we can send an army of Normbots on anyone that disobeys our orders.

So the organizations have to follow our orders or else they are destroyed. Which means we are in complete control on the amount of evil they can commit.

Russ could blackmail Doof and threaten to reveal to Vanessa that Doof controls organized crime unless Doof agrees to give up control of the Tri-State area.

Ironically, this seems like the more moral option, between it and Maximize Morally.

Increased sentencing for criminals who do not commit their crimes while wearing trenchcoats? Protection rackets that actually provide protection, preferably by standing around wearing aforementioned trench coats? Deem all drugs unnacceptable except for weed, which can only be dealt out of featureless white vans parked in designated sketchy alleys after 8? It's not that hard to pick stuff out of the shallow end of the crime pool and then make it as cliche as possible.
