...Say, @Made in Heaven , do Collabs offered to us by someone else count towards our action limit or is it essentially a free action on account of being initiated not by us?
Yes, they count towards your action limits. In past rival reports we've shown both actors taking the 'collaborate on X' action, although lately we've been omitting the second instance for posterity's sake.

Also, for those worried about Screenslavers...

Please recall that Doof's already done it, and done it better. We would probably recognize it. And there's a chance that given our history with mind control through computers, Evelyn might be open with us about her screenslaver intentions.

Not, you know, a likely chance, but a possibility nonetheless.

Damn, that´s a shame.

So no trying to game our action economy like that, I guess.

Good point...that moves collabing on New OS upwards quite a bit on my personal list "low likely will I vote for it?"

DoofOS collab is probably risky for screenslaver reasons, but at the same time... There's quite a bit of merit to replacing a problem we definitely have now with a problem we might have sometime in the future.

Regarding the Doof OS Firewall:

That firewall is still down.

EDIT:
I will personally put my EXP on a DoofOS 2 Collab. If the Slate has the Coven on it too and personals of either Personal Assistance on the Coven, or Work on the Musical (or both). I will fun the Entire slate (Unless NWish gets there first).

I'm fine with new os as long as it's Alan on it. He can do all sorts of interesting things that we might not find out about but would still help our goals. He can build the freaking firewalls into it from the start to finally be done with that string of failures.

[Rolls a nat 1]

... SONOFA#$%@%!!!

I am not too worried about Screenslavers, if it happens it happens. Although it would be somewhat sad to lose current DoofOs architecture. Also what would happen with our OS profit? Does it become divided in half between us and Olimpia?

I want to wait to make a new OS until we can access the Grid so we can keep t's eldritch feel. Making a new one would ruin that.

Yes, but if it will survive one more turn, then we have decent odds to complete laser and finally repair it.
DoofOS literally has zero firewalls right now, and spending an action to put those back up means no free Stewardship actions. Even once we get the codes, we'd need even more time to actually get into cyberspace and start protecting things.

I don't think we can afford to wait much longer, honestly.

For the OS remember that we're not in it for the PR or the money, we originally chose to continue investing in a losing battle so there could be a safe space for programs suffering under King Candy and the MCP. That is our key objective.

Indeed, though both of the latter are good. Honestly, I don't think Olympia is a direct threat against the programs, so I think we're all good on collaborating. Meanwhile, every month we leave the programs alone is a chance for them to get destroyed.

on the subject of the digital speace, do we know how King Candy and the Tron Boss stand? like, are they battling? uneasy aliance? did one beat and devoured the other?:o

A point to the Diecast, it lowers the DC for robotics and we need to upgrade the Normbots to counter the schematics leak as best we can.

QM comment on the likelihood of Evelyn "betraying" us.

I think the new OS is the right call.
Reading the Discord, his comments seem to be based on two people using the same OS, like you and me both running Windows doesn't mean that we can hack each other. I don't know if he's just playing dumb about the difference between that and Microsoft wanting to hack Windows, or if he's genuinely confused about the nature of our concern.

Collaborating with Olympia on the OS would mean that you'd both be sharing the profits and the source code, but it wouldn't give them automatic access to your systems. Whatever you set up using the new OS would be a private network, just as they'd have their own private network.

I think they are more worried about Deavour sneaking Screenslaver tech into the *public network code* and therefore "subverting" our reach to extend their own - similar to what would have happened if we had taken Toffees corn deal.

The Break-the-Streak-Inator: Some of your employees have been having a rough time while others are having a great time. You assume the law of averages will eventually take hold but you're impatient. Thus you built this inator to Jinx someone, or maybe it's double jinx because you're doing something about the jinx? Eh whatever just zap someone and hope for the best.
Mechanically: Select a hero unit and next turn there dice roll will be converted to the absolute value of the dice roll minus 101.
Examples:
  • |100 - 101| + ... = crit failure
  • |1 - 101| + 48(reroll)

Collaborating on coding it, assuming the people we put on it know what they're doing (so Alan Bradley), isn't inherently more risky. If someone else knowing how your OS was coded made it worthless, it would make open source projects a very different phenomenon. The issue comes if they still have the ability to push updates to our machines.

While I still want to go with Diecast for Olympia I do have a suggestion, if we do go with the OS might I recommend the name KhaOS, named after the Greek Primordial Goddess Khaos from witch the word chaos is derived. We are one of the more chaotic Kings after all.
