So, the Glooms not only took things in such a way as to become Jannas Nemeses (talk about "punching above your weight-class"), they also seem to be in the employ of Xanatos after all...a damn shame, honestly.

Oh well, at least now we can start to focus on tidying up things again in the wake of this Crisis.

"We have to catch them all, Grimmy!"

Hildy coughed.

"I'm sorry, I… I don't know what came over me."

"No no, it's all right." Grim replied. "You've won me over. We'll steal that intelligent magical item from that teenager and her group of close friends via a convoluted scheme, then use it for our vague plan of riches and rewards from our respected criminal boss."

"Hey now." the Orb of Leno said, turning to Beelzebub. "You ever get the feeling you're missing a reference?"

The broom shrugged.

"Well. No stopping it now. Better prepare for trouble."
And make it double.

This will be glorious.

We could hire Hans?

I was hoping for the Glooms so that we wouldn't have to rely on something like... that.
We don't have to, and I really really don't want to. Mal will suffice for now considering none of our occult actions really need him to step outside aside from looking for more heroes, I think.

Are you sure that wouldn't be overstepping? That seems like a conversation Feldrake should be having with her, since she's his apprentice.

Has Feldrake ever really had a nemesis though? Like yes, he wanted to take over the world and that get opposition, but a nemesis is something special. Not an enemy you just fight and forget. We could see if she's had "the talk" with him, but she really needs it from someone who knows how quickly you can lose one.

Quests, not Occult actions.

All I'm saying is that people should reconsider being happy about losing access to a Hero unit arguably on par with Kitsune, when we would have been much better off having one next turn.

Janna has gained a nemesis!

Oh good, we need more nemeses running around, and a knockoff Doronbo is about the least threatening thing when it comes to lasting damage possible.
By the by...

Is this the part where we learn they're actually really good at legit, normal jobs?

Good enough to fool people just long enough for the episode plot at least.
God I wish we could get Moseby from Sweet Life for entertainment if nothing else. How else will we be able to stop people from running in our lobby?

One of the best Stewardship heroes in the world, shame about his Diplomacy.

Hopefully we can remove the Glooms from the nemesis list as soon as possible. We already have our hands full dealing with the current problems + our future nemesis, the Phantom Blot, so we really do not need another nemesis to worry about right now.

So, at this point Janna's going to be busy with Nemesis actions as well.

Yeah, if we aren't able to remove the Glooms from the Nemesis list, then we'll basically have to focus on hiring a couple decent Occult Hero to supplement Janna's niche, what with absolutely dealing with Demona/Toffee/Star stuff, Janna dealing with her Nemesis actions, and whatever the Huntsclan might stir up when Marco sticks his nose up to them and Kitsune and Tom are traced back to DEI.

A nemesis helps you grow as an evil person, and growth is what we want for Janna. Having an enemy that she doesn't have to try to kill because the worst case scenario is us needing to ask Xanatos for Feldrake back might also be good for her.

In fairness, we don't know who hired the Glooms in-character, so if Xanatos decides to do something like destroy Feldrake rather than risk going to war with an ally... that's pretty bad for us.

I think your paranoia is getting the better of you.
1. Destroying Feldrake would make us want to war with Xanatos even harder. Even if it would be OOC info.
2. The implications from the post are that the glooms are basically free agents that Xanatos hired for this job. Xanatos doesn't do hero units like we do with the exception of Puck and maybe one or two others.
3. Narrative weight. The Glooms are basically Team Rocket expies. They never manage their main goal yet are surprisingly competent elsewhere because its funny. Even if they managed to snag Feldrake he will be back in Janna's hands by the end of the arc.

I kind of hope that the Glooms snatch up Feldrake only for Janna to take it back using magic on her own, with Janna realizing that she's become able to do magic without Feldrake in the process.

A Night to Remember
A Night to Remember

Another month, another meeting between Shego and Dr. Doofenshmirtz in Bueno Nacho to talk about Hego, short and awkward as it always seemed to be. Doof wasn't sure how long he could take it anymore, what kind of world is it coming to when you can't even have a proper conversation with your Greatest Rival? And they had such a rapport going when they dealt with Third Most Hated Enemy Syndrome. Now it's just business dealings and Hego and drug cartels, boring , boring BORING! They need to change things up, but what could they possibly do in Bueno Nacho to- That's it!

"Shego, there is one more thing I wanted to talk to you about."

"..."

"Talkative as always! Anyway I've been thinking about it, and was wondering if we could meet somewhere else next time?"

"..."

"Not that I don't like Bueno Nacho, it's... fine... I own it after all! I just don't think it really fits my style, can hardly entertain a guest in a place like this until I renovate it to something other than where we have secret meetings, wait! Marco and Tom had secret meetings here as well, maybe that's how I can fix this place up!"

"Get on with it Doof, what do you want?"

"What? Oh yes, the other thing..." Dr. D catches himself and continues. "I was thinking... next time we can meet in Doofania! Think about it, you can see the sights, have actual food, I can do a few musical numbers, It'll be great!"

"Musical numbers?"

"Yes! I'm quite the performer if I do say so myself, and I do!" Doof seems to lose himself in memories for a moment, that is until...

"You singing? I bet it sounds like a cat being strangled, why would I subject myself to you performing, it's painful enough dealing with you here."

"..."

"Doof?"

"..."

"Dr. D? Something wrong?"

"Curse you..."

"What?"

"Curse you Shego the Drakktch CEO! I'll show you I am the greatest performer of my generation! And you will rue the day you doubted HEINZ DOOFENSHMIRTZ'S SINGING!"

With that Doof ran from the building and to his flying car, shouting about showing her and the like. Shego just watched on confused.

"What just happened?"

Her phone rings, she's too confused to check who it is and answers.

"You will!"

She throws the phone against the wall.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was an emergency meeting for the high ranking and senior members of DEI, nobody was sure what was wrong, only that the boss was furious about something after his meeting with Shego. Some, mainly Hego, were worried this was going to be another murder brainstorming session, and about what Shego could have possibly done to get such a reaction from the good Doctor.
"I'll show you Shego, just you wait..." He turned to see the employees filing in and grinned, it was a different kind of grin from the one they usually see from Dr. D, this one seemed sharper, more predatory, like it belonged to Shere Khan and not Heinz Doofenshmirtz. "I have an announcement in regards to Shego..."
Hego visibly paled at the tone in Doof's voice when he said his sister's name, scenarios ran through his head about what could have possibly happened, each one worse than the last. Are they going to war? Did someone attack her? Did she attack Dr. D? Did Dr. D hurt her? The others in the room were not doing much better, this was just so out of character for him, what could possibly be happening?
"This will be the single most important assignment I have ever given any of you, treat it as if your lives depend on it, it just might." Tension built up, nobody spoke, and then... "Shego will be coming to visit in a month's time, I need you to all work so that it goes as well as it possibly can!"
What...
This was it?
She's coming to visit, no rambling revenge plan? No plotting and scheming? Something was off.
"Doctor?" Hego was the one to broach the subject, worried about his sister. "I have a question."
"Yes yes what is it Hego?" Doof still hasn't lost that serious glint in his eyes. "I thought you'd be happy to hear your sister is coming to visit."
"I am, it's just..." He finds the words. "Why are you acting so seriously, It's just a visit isn't it?"
"No, it isn't," There it is. "She did something I cannot overlook, WILL not overlook, something truly unforgivable..."
Everyone listened closely.
"She doubted my ability to perform!"
Wait what?
"Sure it's been some time since I've gone all out but I've still got what it takes!"
What?
"I suppose it's mostly my fault, I've been seeing her so often and yet I've never showed her what I could do, but now I'll rise to the occasion, really blow her away!"
Someone in the back, probably Janna, started giggling. Hego was completely silent, too stunned to speak.
"I will be long and hard, but I swear I'll show her a night she'll NEVER FORGET!" He places a stack of folders on the table in front of him. "Here are your assignments, feel free to use your own creativity and ideas, I want this to be one for the ages!"
With that he left the room, laughing maniacally as he went to make preparations for... a night to remember? How else could that be interpreted than a date? Nobody makes that many innuendos in that short of a time without knowing what they're doing, well, unless they're a Toon but while Doof might act like one, he's still human.
"Gawrsh," Goofy breaks the silence. "I gotta say I'm happy for them, let's do our best not to ruin their special night, right fellas?"
"I think..." Monogram says as he looks about, slightly uncomfortable as he grabs his folder. "I think I need to call my wife..."
Both Janna and Kitsune look like they're having the time of their lives, they grab theirs and look towards each other, smirk, and run off to do what they will. Most simpley sigh or stoically take their folders and leave. Soon the only one left is Hego, still processing what just happened... did Dr. D just ask him to help plan a date between two supervillains, his sister and a supervillain?
But then again the Doctor isn't that much of a villain... Honestly, he's actually done quite a lot of good when you get down to it. The last time Shego and Dr. D worked together they stopped Syndrome from unleashing his army of robots to wipe out Supers. A heroic act. When you get down to it... Doof is....
A good influence on her.
Hego began to grin, similar to Doof's, it looks out of place on the man, and if anyone saw him they would no doubt be worried.
"Well then..." He says as he picks up the folder. "I've got a date to plan..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One month later, Shego was making her way to Bueno Nacho for her meeting with Doof, honestly she doesn't know what to expect. She hasn't heard from him since his freak out last month, screaming about how he'll show her, whatever that means. It wasn't until a few days ago that she got any word from him at all, this one telling her to go to the usual spot with packed bags. Normally she wouldn't bother with this sort of thing, just ignored him and went on with her day, but something about what happened intrigued her. She wants so see just how far this goes, should be good for a laugh if nothing else.

What she wasn't expecting when he got there, was to see her brother waiting for her in a tuxedo, a small group of Normbots waiting to take her things for her.

"What are you doing Hego?" She asks, completely confused. "And what are you wearing?"

"Right this way ma'am." Hego tells her with a smile, bowing and motoning her around the corner. "The Doctor is waiting for you."

As she cautiously rounded the corner she found a literal red carpet going down the road, decorations lining the walkway as music lightly played, Doof was waiting for her in the backseat of his flying car. Hego quickly flying over to sit down in the driver's seat.

Dear God, what has she gotten into? People walking by stop and begin to take pictures, this is going to be on the news before long. She thought people were done thinking she was dating the Pharmacist. She collects herself and nears the car, she won't back down, that's as good as letting him win.

"I hope you're ready Shego." Doof tells her with a smirk. "For a night you'll never forget."

I have weird ideas after I break out the Grapefruit Wine, and this one stuck with me to the next morning. Figured it was a funny enough idea for Doof and Shego to have a meeting that literally everyone else thinks is a date, or are having too much fun to correct anyone.

So, I had a .... potentially dumb idea in regards to the whole keeping Star safe from Toffee/Demona thing.

Kitsune can do illusions.

If she's willing (it's fine if she ain't, this might be dangerous after all), and we have a good escape plan, we can have her go around pretending to be Star in places we know she isn't at, and were she'll be seen enough that people looking for her would notice, but not like she was trying to be seen. Ideally she'll be gone before any of the pursuers actually arrive (unless we plan to turn this into a trap to capture an enemy of Star's).

This will get the people looking for her chasing down dead ends .... although, probably should leave some cameras in the area just in case Star shows up to investigate a copy of herself.

The obvious place to start with this is New York, as we know for a fact she isn't in New York. Might want to give Xanatos a head's up ... although he'd actually probably be into this plan. We have reason to suspect Demona will be after her after all, and he has motive to want her out of the picture.

Although ... Demona might be wary of poking her head out in New York after this mess, maybe New Jersey or Connecticut instead? Too close by for Star to settle there immediately after leaving New York, and still in Xanatos's territory so he can monitor it and maybe set a trap but not in his stronghold of New York which Demona might be wary to step in after her recent loss.

Five Stages - Denial (1/5)

Nicely done, these were both a lot of fun to read.

Mmm... nope, still pretty happy. I mean I don't like the 7D in general because everyone there is annoying and also on the weaker scale of things. But the Glooms seem like pretty good, relatively risk-averse Nemesis material for Janna.

This does not mean we should hire Hans. There should never be a situation that requires hiring Hans permanently. He can't even cast spells! Plus I think he's busy re-organizing since all his previously researched data is false. Which is another reason why I don't want to hire him.

Also Xanatos wanting to destroy Felldrake is funny and out of character of him considering he wants to preserve our alliance. Destroying the magical focus of your ally's chief wizard (especially after she helped you out with Demona) is in such poor taste that Xanny would have immediately scrapped the idea.

Do we have any easy things we can do for increasing our PR for this turn? Also do we have anyone focused on PR within our rolodex that we might think of hiring on?

Fair enough, Hans probably can't fill in the niche of a moving Caster-type, just as Juniper likely won't be able to as well.

Hans would arguably be useful on Feldrake's Quest line when we come across magical creatures other than Gargoyles, but we don't have to hire him immediately.

I do disagree with the idea he has some work he has to do before we can hire him, as quite frankly, the work he's doing now is counterproductive since the Gargoyles are the only "science" magic beings out-of-character.

Agreed. I'm also not gung-ho about hiring Juniper since her stats absolutely suuuuck. But people here want her for Dance Magic and because she might have a trait that buffs when in a team(?).

Also I'm not saying we shouldn't hire Hans right now because he's in the middle of work. I'm saying we shouldn't hire him at all because his 'facts' about magical creatures are all wrong. The show outright states that Jake Long gets low grades in his class due to being confused about his incorrect data on magical creatures.
