Maybe I'm dumb but it feels like the best thing here is to decide who we send now, then plan whether or not we send them on any actions to New York, and if so, what those actions might be, when the actual next turn rolls around?
Yeah, a lot of people seem to be thinking that if we send someone on this 'quest' then we HAVE TO assign them to a New York national action.

We can just not assign them to anything, and do a non-new york national action.

I'm happy with dropping a goddamn anvil on the situation. Save the girl who is shaping up to being our protege, maybe earn a few points with Xanatos, hopefully only brutally murder entities that deserve it. And hopefully spread some Christmas cheer because, hey, we're not going to play Scrooge but we are damn well playing the goddamn Krampus.

Not Available because they showed up in the update:
Ludivine
Goofy
Dennis
Jumba
Mirage
Alan
Roddy
Of these, I think the only losses were Mirage and Goofy; we could reasonably send them on a a intrigue or diplo action there, respectively.

Good People to Send:
Hego
Pro: High Martial, low demand, gives him something useful to do
Con: Not great in other stats

Khan
Pro: Very high martial, decent stewardship, Could perform supervillainy there
Con: High opportunity cost

Lizzy
Pro: High Martial, Friends with Janna, Low Demand
Cons: Lowers diplomacy score

Kitsune
Pros: Solid stats in all relevant categories, gets along well with Janna, could do DIplomacy or Intrigue actions in NYC
Cons: Some minor opportunity cost on other diplo actions

Tobe
Pros: Solid Martial, Solid Intrigue
Cons: moderate demand for national actions, can't reasonably take any NYC national actions

Agent Russ
Pros: Solid Martial (especially if we send a toon), great intrigue, decent stats all around
Cons: Very high demand

Tom Lucitor
Pros: High Martial, Friends with Janna, Friends with Marco, solid occult
Cons: Can't realistically take any actions in NYC (Is this a con?)

I know that this probably won't be popular but hear me out. We don't send Khan. Instead we send Tom.

this is related to Star, we know from past experience that there's stuff to raise from the dead to proc his trait, and he could proc something with Marco.

I'm thinking Tom, Kitsune (intrigue + Diplo, plus her now you see me trait), and someone else I'm not sure about

You know what would be cool to do, go to New York ourselves to fix things, have Doof show up in his power armor to get Janna and Marco out, make a good impression on the boy. Probably a stupid idea but I think it would be fun.

It's definitely a con. Tom still has to take three personal actions to Rule the Underworld a year, and if we send someone to do something in New York but they don't do a National Action there, their personal fizzles. That means we, effectively, have to send Tom to rule his kingdom 4 times this year.

I'm super down for Hego being there. Kitsune feels right too, plus we might actually be able to collab with Xanatos or do something else with her?

I don't know I'm not good at planning

We could send Khan to try to "Collaborate with Xanatos on an issue" namely "incoming twelfth night prophecy" as in "I am TEMUJIN!!!! Where are our enemies and how should I smite them"

Khan is on his utahraptor, which is excellent, and hilarious
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for secondaries, Kitsune on "reach out to magical new york" and Tobe on "infiltrate hotspot with new power of love skills" sounds great. I could also see Wil E out on a "plan a Research Agreement" action out that way
Honestly I think Kitsune, Tobe, Janna and Khan should have good interactions with one another. Especially because it plays exactly into Marco's canon role.
Khan is the straightman in the situation before Marco is collected. A resurrected and atomic Genghis Khan riding a Utahraptor is the straight man and Marco will have to just roll with that
That is hilarious.
Khan- Straight man
Janna- Manic Pupil
Feldrake- Immature Tutor
Kitsune- Wise Elder Mischief Maker
Tobe- Comedic Support and Heart <3 (and ninja)
Marco will be a very competent and badass magical merc until the crew shows up and absolutely baffles him into klutz town through sheer "What. What. Is that Genghis Khan on a dinosaur? And Janna? Why? What?"
excellent interlude I can see it already 10/10 can't wait to be yeeted from Hoover Dam by an evil dorito
[ ] Try to Collaborate with Xanatos on an Issue
Can we do this and send Goofy, Max, and Rus?
I really want to make some use of Goofy's Martial, Max to get to see a master class in toon fighting (and also to ensure Goof wipes the floor with the opponents), Rus as a Christmas present of seeing Goof in action and to be the one to facilitate the collaboration with Xanatos on whatever issue (goof has high diplomacy and Rus has Gov connections).
Honestly, this is mainly to finally graduate Max on toon fighting, and to have Rus see Goof in action.
Is this viable at all though?
I mean, I'm fine with sending him for this turn. Then we just have him start doing it in March/April, where we could probably spare him
[] 3rd person?
I don't think we should send Kitsune, because then we'll be relying on Tobe to do our occult action and risk a critical failure, with Janna & Kitsune being unavailable and Tom not willing to do our lowest-DC occult action.
Hmmm...
If we send Jumba, could we accidentally redirect the Masquerade breaking towards a reveal of alien life?
Either way, we need to go big on sending help to Janna. Khan for sure, probably Tobe with his ninja magic, honestly I'd be down for donning our power armor and charging in in person if it helps more. Nobody messes with our employees!
But sending Jumba to perform supervillainy would be a good Christmas gift for the scientist, let him have some fun and maybe snag some Gargoyle or magical creature genetics to whip up something stylish for the New Year.
Hmm...okay so Kitsune, Gengis Khan, Russ, Tobe and Tom are all perfectly viable people to send into the NYC warzone. On the other hand, I'm a bit against sending Hego, Max or Goofy. Hego is the definition of "not subtle" in the region where the Masquerade primarily is. Although Max is training with Russ, I'm pretty damn sure he'd still get pissed if we sent him intentionally into a danger zone. And Goofy just really sucks in a fight.
I thought Jumba was one of the ones we couldn't send.
[] Khan
After thinking about it, probably these three. Tom provides the most occult plus we might be able to proc his trait and Marco is here too for stuff to happen, Kitsune rounds out low Diplo on Janna + Intrigue, and her "add half occult" trait will almost certainly be triggering here, and Khan is stupid good for martial and he helps Stewardship rolls.
