"Every group will have their exceptions." Hudson said, stepping very carefully. He had to provide enough, but not too much. Silently he cursed Xanatos once again for getting them pulled into one of his schemes, especially one this desperate. And the man was desperate, as much as he wouldn't agree. "Like all people. But far moe Gargoyles wish to live in peace with humans."
Holy shit. Xanatos is desperate.

A pass hail Mary indeed.

But far moe Gargoyles wish to live in peace with humans."
moe should be more

... What's got Xanatos so spooked? Toofy? Demona? Something has him spooked enough to poke the masquerade.

And like I guessed Brooklyn is either dead or gone as well...

stat least we can bring our gargoyle dog around in public now?

Does anyone know the translation for this?
Braille Translator The first two are, indeed, "My Old" but that last word does not seem to be "friend"...unless it's a grade two translation, which it appears to be.

Interesting. Technically, like any language translation, it can only be properly done by a human, but it's consistent so far.

The blind man is probably Jeffrey Robbins, whose claim to fame in Gargoyles-land is not being affected by Demona's magic because he can't see it.

Xanatos has revealed Gargoyles to the world! It went better than he expected… but not as well as hoped.

he rolled a 193... damn Demona really has him spooked. We should reach out and collaborate/meet up and talk about the Masquerade next turn. Xanay must be desperate and we can work our way in with that.

I think MiH just gave us the translation straight up.

I know you've never been a fan of the speaking box, but I think you'll want to take a listen tonight. Channel Four, six o'clock.

You know all of this is really making me want to see a Xanatos Negaquest for when we told him the prophecy, just to imagine a response that justifies this kind of action.

So someone remind me - why is Xanatos doing this again? Pre-emptive strike?
We dont fully know, but from context, its probably a pre emptive measure against "hostile gargoyles (specifically Demona)" who not only plan to fight against humanity openly, but bring down the Masquerade fully

So Xanatos may be playing both sides here.

If the Masquerade is to survive Demona's reveal, normalizing Gargoyles is the best thing to do so, since it would enable fighting Demona openly and with conventional means.

But if the Masquerade does fall down, then Xanatos revealing Gargoyles not only protects him from "but why didn't you tell us!" accusations, but also shows that he's may already have had intentional or unintentional dealings with this side of the masquerade. This makes his transition to a world with a broken masquerade just that much smoother for the non-magical side to accept how "fast" Xanatos seems to be adapting, but also to the magical side seeing Xanatos in a much better light PR wise. Obviously they already saw Xanatos in the magical auction, but now they know going to Xanatos can protect them from non-magical threats.

"I... zat… zis all makes sense now! No wonder zere were so many holes in my zeories!" Hans declared, completely disregarding his earlier insistence they were flawless. "When I was expecting zome 'nebulous force' to fill in the gaps, eet was really just science I hadn't understood yet! Ohhhh this opens so many new avenues for research!" Rotwood giggled gleefully at the camera. "Zis changes everyzing! Oh, I have so much to do, so much to do! Schnell, Schnell!"
Dang, looks like Xanatos got Rotwood before us, and he seems pretty happy with his current employment situation. There's a slight hope that once Rotwood finds out Magic actually is real and Xanatos lied to him about it he'll take negative loyalty and defect, but I'm not holding my breath. Xany is too competent for someone like Rotwood to want to defect.

Plus, Xanatos having Rotwood probably means he scooped up the Glooms as well. I hope it's not the case, but I can't see him ignoring spellcasters with great gear and actual intel on other dimensions over a formerly-disgraced crypto-zoologist.

Xanatos showing up with someone from our rolodex makes me want to take our Rolodex recruiting action next turn. It's a bit of a waste, only one Hero unit instead of multiple, but we've got some pretty good units lined up in our list that I'd hate to miss the window of opportunity on. I was originally gunning for Recruit Heroes+Villains next turn, but now I think I'll go Rolodex+Villains.

Well, that could've been worse. At least the temptation to recruit Rotwood is gone (seriously, that guy is a crackpot, have fun with that, Xaney). Still, though, if the Huntsclan starts making more public moves, I support immediate denouncement and antagonization from us. Because honestly? Screw those guys. They're basically stereotypical xenophobic assholes that the world is better off without

I really think this is a bit of a stretch.

Also, there's nothing that indicates he's hired Rotwood full time. It could just be like what Launchpad was supposed to be - just speak at this one time.
I'd very much like that to be true. I still want to try and recruit Rotwood + The Glooms, because they're fun, but I'm not excited about our chances.

I'm just not sure if Xanatos would accept the risk of someone not on his payroll being called in to speak about something he very much wants to succeed. On the one hand, he hates risks, but on the other hand, this was a desperate hail-mary move. And if Xanatos did manage to nab Rotwood, that would mean that even recent units in our Rolodex can be scooped up by other people, and given Xanatos made an overture to the Glooms already by giving them the Jay Leno Crystal Ball, there might be decent odds of him having picked them up as well. He's going whole hog against Demona, after all, and what would be more useful than a crystal ball that could possibly scry her location and/or plans, along with spell-casters who can look past the crystal ball's personality to actually use it.

I dunno. This is all just conjecture, I admit, and it's also possible that they're both still available. It's just a toss-up of being able to recruit them rather than a sure thing, which has me a bit rattled, especially concerning the chances of recruiting some of the other people from our Rolodex.

"Come now doctor. 'Magic' is simply a word for things we don't understand yet. We used to call thunder the will of Zeus, or the blizzard the wrath of Odin. Yet now we know the truth, thanks to people like you. Your studies are far too effective to be dismissed as mere hocus pocus. Please, don't sell yourself short."
He's not revealing magic! HES TRYING TO HIDE MAGIC BEHIND BIOLOGY! HE'S PUSHING SCIENCE TO HIDE MAGIC, THE MADMAN!

It's been literally one turn since we've met the Glooms.

Sure, it isn't implausible that Xanatos has some ability that lets him recruit from rolodex multiple times in a single turn... it's doubtful though.

Because people want the Glooms, we should get them next turn rather than Juniper, as Juniper doesn't draw the same level of demand, thus she can wait well after the Magical Masquerade breaks.

Do people still want the Glooms? I was under the impression that they were becoming less popular now that we've recruited Malefishmertz.

Mind you, I'd still be fine with them regardless. They seem fun and I think they'd be a great personality pick for DEI.

I've been supporting glooms. Definitely want to hire them soon. Especially since we offered them a job and they didn't have any money since they spent all theirs on a broom.

Well, that was interesting. So he probably got a success. Although I'm still a bit suspicious that it wasn't stated.

Also, looks like he used Rotwood to prevent it from being thought to be supernatural.
Technically gargs aren't natively supernatural. However a Roman empire got upset about the clothing issue, and had the species enchanted to bring their gear with them into the stone sleep.

Also we should warn the Xanadu clan.

We can cycle between Malf, the Glooms, and Janna for Occult actions, training, and Quests if we get the Glooms, giving us some breathing room.

Juniper is a good hero unit, but not in that way, she seems to be some sort of weird hero ball combo Hero unit.

Edit: For reference, keep in mind that we still haven't gotten Monogram to reorganize OWCA, and we have Tobe, Russ, and Kitsune as intrigue hero units.

I don't need to be convinced here. I was asking a question on what people's feelings still were by commenting on what I had seen in the last week, not what my stance was.

Xanatos is going to have Rotwood monitored and managed to keep away from real magic (How do the clothes turn the stone?) and to see who gets interested in him after his recent bout of publicity. If we try to hire him we'll need to assure Xanatos that we don't intend to break the masquerade and won't let Rotwood do it either.
