Well, Rubberhose won't protect Wile E. from a physically manifest Bill. After all, Bill Cipher, the laws of physics already run on "what would be funny," it's just that Bill Cipher's sense of humor overrides everyone else's.

On the other hand, we don't actually know to what extent Bill is manifest within the Oregon Triangle, or how much control or awareness he has. It doesn't seem to be full-on Weirdmageddon in there yet, unless I'm much mistaken...

It's also important, I think, not to send someone too schooled in sciences, probably, up there. Ford does claim, after all, that dissolving the barrier is a really easy equation, and while easy for him isn't the same as actually easy, to prevent a worst-case scenario, we probably shouldn't send someone who is likely able to find that out themselves.

Tobe seems like a pretty solid pick to investigate

Well, if that's true, Tobe is probably one of the best picks we have. He has a Learning score of 5, and none of his traits impact that particular score in any way.

We should consider following up on Bill-related leads from outside first. We can try and investigate the blind eye folks who are probably behind the gang signs, recruit Man Moth, or invent something that would unscramble McGucket's brain and then recruit him.

Not sure if those are better or worse than sending someone to Oregon, but going there probably isn't the only way to find some things out.

Also, speculation:

Tobe and the gang are foolish and amusing enough that Bill, even if he is aware of them, might not bother them.

Also, this. Sending Tobe to investigate the weird cult sounds good.

Due to the probabilityinator, I'd rather not put anyone on Bill the upcoming turn. I'm okay with us investigating, but I'd rather not see what a crit-fail looks like.
Also, THIS.

He is also, ah... not exactly a stable employee, and pretty clearly visibly so at the event.
Good news: A Learning to rival Doof!
Bad news: When McGucket is assigned to a National Action, flip two coins. If one tails is flipped, he performs a different action in the category, including potentially one that already has a hero on it, where he will replace them, and they only add half their bonus as they are sidelined. If two tails are flipped, he performs a Personal Action instead.

All above is purely speculation.

Actually... might Star, Cazador, Janna, and Tom make a pretty good hero ball?

It might be a good idea to send them into Oregon. It could also be a horrible idea, but it seems like an option to me.

They're a proven team. They'd probably make an excellent heroball. The question is whether they'd be better as a heroball, or as individual heroes.

I really don't feel like the solution to "Bill is expanding his influence outside" is to go "let's just pay a personal visit to Bill's territory to see how well it's doing".

We've had the option to investigate Oregon in this way since nearly the beginning. I would hope that the GM wouldn't set up trap options, and I think I remember him saying that he wouldn't, but I could be wrong.

But now we've got something to investigate outside of Oregon. That's what started this whole conversation.
Bill might catch onto us if we do either of those actions, giving the other option a much higher DC, but I've got an idea to counter that.

Let's do both of those actions at once to baffle Bill with bullshit.

When weak, look strong.

Let's take a small trip back in time for a second:

JANA READING 1:
The Problem (a challenge faced): The King (compassion, friendship, and healing. Acknowledging what others have done for you. Can signify social exhaustion. Modified by the sign of the Hydra [skill and self-reliance, & falsehood and deceit])
You have lost a friend that was dear to you. You seek to have her back. And yet even as you strive to stand alone to seek her, there are others who seek to help. You are lying to yourself, ignoring your own needs to satisfy a fear of powerlessness.

The Past (events leading to the dilemma): The Rising Sun [Gain and success, but also the seizing of opportunities. Modified by The Pixie [socialization and love, but also insincerity and emptiness].
You took a chance and seized a rare opportunity to join with others and find help, help that may yet give you a chance to achieve your goals. Yet you were not at first honest with them.

The Present (what is happening now): Death (Change. A new beginning wrapped in an ending. Facing the future unafraid. Modified by the Pig-Goat [hyperactivity, impulsiveness, rulebreaking, and stubbornness])
"The one you seek was born under this sign. What has come before is over, but a new beginning awaits. She is in your future. Now, all you must do is find the Path.

The Path (the way forward, the means by which you should accomplish your goal, the things that shall aid you): The Princess (a feminine influence, a powerful ally, or one with advice. Modified by the Demon [sign of Queen {Eclipsa?}. Those mischievous and dynamic, pleasure-seeking, unspeakably loyal but possessed of a ruinous pride.])
In such a case, the ally might be another. Some great force that, if found, would simplify your task immensely.

DOOF READING 1
The Problem: The Princess
Your princess is not in her castle.

The Past: Shooting Star (nature, reflection and truth. BUT something is off. Modified by the sign of the Deadhorse. [steadfastness, straightforwardness, and obedience to the rules.])
Star and Marco

The Present: Rising Sun (Gain. Success. Opportunities. New horizons.)
This is your Present. You have many chances, if you can find them, to tip the scales. Seek out what you wish to find. Search distant, far-off lands.

The Path: The Master of the Book (A great challenge. A sacrifice. Power. Danger. Grave consequences. Cold, harsh, unstoppable reality. The revelation of truth. Modified by The sign of the Lion-Dragon. [Strength. Certainty. Power. Domination. Hatred of limitations. Self-righteousness.])
The light you seek shall not be found. Though others might join and effort abound. Til' the demon stands where died her mate, against the world in reckless hate.
Through hate she will inspire fear. This darkness comes- within one year. Though her plan will fail, the veil will lift; through truth, her people set adrift.
With schemes unfurled, a different plan. A princess from another land. An ally of great strength she seeks. The payment? Hearts set on her cheeks.

JANNA/DOOF READING 2: STAR
Problem: True Love. (a crossroads, an approaching fork, but as Tobe knows it can also be a more literal True Love. modified by the Blowhole. [Someone who is down to earth].
The problem here stems from some sort of trouble in a literal love affair. Involves someone Down to Earth.

Past: Shooting Star. (modified by the Tadpole. [sign of the eccentric free spirit, yadda yadda.])
This is Star, it's clearly Star, and recent.

Present: The Hungry One. (A sign of provision, safety and plenty. Modified by the Pixie. [sign of togetherness.]
Janna and Tom. They're in the best spot they can be right now for dealing with what's coming. The alternate interpretation is that their enemy has obtained the things and allies they need to achieve whatever they want to accomplish.

Path: The Queen. (modified by the Deadhorse.)
"Strength… and death. She has the Power she has sought. But it is not enough. There is another She seeks. The Kingdom and the Glory.

TOBE READING
The Problem: The Full Moon (unrealized potential. Meaningful conflict, and an inadequate perspective. Modified by the Deadhorse [ Sign of wisdom, strength and moral rigidity. And also, on occasion, literal dead horses.])
You seek a great and powerful foe, one of both physical and moral strength, to battle and become stronger in the doing.

The Past: The Queen (Personal power, strength and decisiveness. modified by the Pony Head. [sign of mystery and desirability.])
You faced a great foe once, a heroic figure of stealth and power that you sought to battle and improve yourself against. But now that rival is gone, stolen away, yet you are stuck within the patterns of the past."

The Present: The Princess (Modified by the Tadpole [the sign of free spirits, the clever and the eccentric.])
Literally talking about Celena and Janna, OR Some sort of unreasonably powerful feminine figure is currently living with your former rival as the finale of some sort of amusing comedy of errors.

The Path: True Love (True Love, a crossroads, a time of personal reflection. Modified by the Warnicorn [sign of creativity, comparative intelligence, and a complex love life.])
To achieve true potential you need to find the love of your life.

THE COMPANY
Problem: The King. (Sign of compassion, aid, and forgiveness. As a problem, it can represent someone who needs these… or, it could be a sign that aid and forgiveness you hope to provide will be poisoned.) Modified by the sign of the Silkworm [intelligence, independence, and secrecy. This could represent the person who needed helping, or the person who provides help. Or it could speak to the situation itself.]

Past: Battle Strength. (Victory, strength and achievement. Modified by the Pony Head. [a sign of allure, admiration and mystery.])
Someone related to this prophecy has succeeded incredibly, and recently. It is possible [Pony head] refers to the same person as [the Tadpole]; in which case, someone has recently achieved great success in an area you hope to help others, or others need help.

Present: Master of the Book (challenge, sacrifice, consequence, and the facing of reality as it truly is.)
There is something you do not know, a threat, a challenge, or something lost. You do not understand what is going on, and if you act rashly without that knowledge, it could be disastrous.

Path: The Rising Sun. (Personal gain, success. An opportunity. Modified by the Pig-Goat [sign of hyperactivity, fun-loving, stubbornness, impulsivity, and a difficulty following society's rules.])
There is a person, someone who fits this description, who will be of great use to you in cutting through this tangle. With their aid you can avoid potential disaster, and reap incredible reward. Watch for someone hyperactive, fun-loving, impulsive and pigheaded. Despite their negative qualities, they will be a blessing in disguise. NOT STAR. NOT MEWNAN RELATED.

DREAM QUEEN

Bullshit does not work against bullshit incarnate
I'm going to argue that this could work fairly well.

Let's say we investigate/interrogate the cultists first, then invade his territory. He'll know about us before we invade his territory.

Let's say we invade his territory first. Then the Cultists may be made aware of us by Bill, making any movements against them more difficult.

Let's say we go against his Cultists and invade his territory at once. He'll be distracted due to his Cultists asking questions while his territory is invaded under his nose.

Prophecy-related post:

Let's start with Star and the Twelfth Night prophecies (Janna, Doof, and Second Attempt):

Problem: Janna's searching for Star. Others can help. She's lying to herself and ignoring her own needs to satisfy a fear of powerlessness. Doof's issue is The Princess is not in her castle. Tom's problem is True Love. Trouble in a literal love affair, involving someone Down to Earth (probably Marco, Xanatos, or McBeth).

The Past: Janna took found friends, but she lied to them at first. Doof's past is Star and Marco. Tom's Past is Star, and super recent.

The Present: Janna's present is Change. She's going to find Star in the future and just needs to find the path. Doof's Present is Lots of chances to tip the scales and he should Search distant, far-off lands to find them (Feldrake's quest? Investigate other Kingdoms?). Tom's Present is Hang tight with Doof OR Toffee has obtained the things and allies he needs to achieve whatever he wants to accomplish. It's probably both, given the Toffee Interlude.

The Path: Janna's Path forward is either a feminine influence/powerful ally/source of advice modified by the Demon, Mischevious/Pleasure Seeking/Loyal/Ruinously prideful. This is clearly either Tom or Eclipsa. Doof's Path is The prophecy (see below). It's also A great challenge or sacrifice with extremely high stakes. It's modified by strength, determination certainty, power and self-righteousness [Demona, Maybe?]. Tom's Path is Strength and Death. Demona got the power she wanted and now just needs an ally, The Kingdom and the Glory.

So, it looks like Demona's planning to lift the veil, has the power she sought (the staff), but needs an ally. And it looks like that Ally might be... Star?

I don't see the connection between Dream Queen and the rest of the prophecies? elaborate?
It was a separate Prophecy. That was the result. We just got a Number range. I assume it's the random Event Roll range for the Dream Queen.
