Okay, next turn, it looks like the magical masquerade is coming down. And even if it doesn't, something is gonna happen to weaken it.

...I'm deciding which of the two answers I wanna give Russ. But I think we need to start doomsday-prepping, here. And I think there's something we can do that would work with either answer.

@Made in Heaven would this be an acceptable Diplomacy action write-in?

Diplomacy: Collab with Xanatos on Anti-Revelation Spin-Doctoring (DC: ???)
Alright, so, magic! Spooky stuff. People ... probably aren't gonna like it too much if it gets revealed in a way that's ... frightening. And vis a vis potential prophecy, it might be getting revealed sooner rather than later. How best to encourage the public to embrace, rather than disdain? You were thinking a magical school, of some kind, like Shego's got her hero schools, but enchanted rather than superpowered. It'd give you contacts, good will with the populace, let you give all those magic kids a safe and non-prejudiced place to stay, but, y'know, that's just the first thing off the top of your head. Maybe Xanay's got some other suggestions he can throw out?
Rewards: Public opinion against magic reduced, or eliminated outright, in event of the Magical Masquerade breaking. Potential Hero Units? Potential Artifacts? Potential Public Opinion Increase?

I highly doubt that prophecy's gonna activate NEXT TURN...Now, the turn after next, quite possible.

can it wait 2 months? If it can chose wait because the math grade is going to come crashing down with that event
I'm not going to take the option of "I want to uphold the masquerade" under the reasoning of "Well it'll just fall anyway, right?". I want Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated to give magic to the masses, so I'll vote for the option that has Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated give magic to the masses.

This isn't a vote for actions or anything, we'll still be offered the same choices regardless of what we pick here, and will likely pick the same actions no matter what. But I'd like to characterize Doofenshmirtz as being willing to prove Russ wrong, as being willing to do what no one else actually is and spread magic to the common man. It isn't about waiting two months, it's about Doof being willing to take a stand and say that he'll find a way to give magic to everyone and prove the naysayers wrong, as opposed to Doof taking the path of least resistance and just hiding magic away like everyone else. It's about being Prometheus who vows to deliver fire unto mankind as opposed to an uncaring god who would keep that power out of mortal hands.

In short, I'm voting to characterize Doof a certain way, not because I want to take certain actions sooner or later.

That´s actually the question:

Is Russ loyal to the USA *as an institution* or *as an ideal*? Right now he sounds closer to the latter while trying convince everyone (including himself) that it´s the former.
I'm pretty sure Russ is loyal to the ideal. He isn't a "my country, right or wrong" kind of person.

I don't see how our kooky dictatorship is going to fulfill american ideals more than the US government. I get the impression that Russ is a big believer in stuff like democracy. If the US government collapses, gets taken over by lizardmen or something then Russ will do whatever is practical to recreate it (at least in spirit).

(I don't understandt how Russ squares American ideals with the conspiracies and orwellian control of media in the state but I'm not Russ)

i feel this isn't really the proper way to illustrate the masquerade. this isn't high and mighty people hiding something to keep the commen man down, at least not completely. one of the big reasons they hide it is becouse of things like the witch trials and hunts clan. people who ideologically believe magic and magical creatures should not exist and die ect.
of course there is also a bit of keeping my own power but telling it as prometheus isn't really correct. this would be like if the gods were being hunted by some of the humans who knew fire exists and then prometheus still wanted to give it to all men. it's a very different beast.

The government doesn´t have to "get taken over by lizardman" to no longer heed their ideals, pal. The US already violate stuff like equality, democracy and freedom for petty power gain both in-universe and in RL. So you have to forgive me if I say that, as kooky and secessionist Doof may be, he is still closer to the American Ideals than the USA themselves.

What if David Icke's theories are correct(er) in this verse?

Begone, real world mentions! No Bolitics in my Disney Shadowrun Wacky Adventures!

Didn't have time to read all the discussion, sorry.

Something has been sped up.
To Be Continued in: Twelfth Night
BILL BILL BILL BILL
BILL CYPHER THE WORLD EATER

Anyways, that was a totally cool ending to the quest.

[X] "You're wrong, and I'll prove it to you."
Our long-term plan is that the masquerade WILL fall and that when it does we give the public the best impression of magic we can. Let's not lie to russ.

[X] Yoink the Book (Moderate Intrigue Check to avoid anyone seeing you take it)
In character, and easier check.

yes. our plan is that the masquerade will fall eventually. but not becouse of something we have done. which is the thing we are discussing.
right now we don't want the magic masquerade to fall, but we are planning on that it will fall. we do not want to be one of the causes of the masquerade falling so we can say we will keep quite for now (which is in the text for now) untill the masquerade falls for one reason or another.
all it means is no big magic things in or for the public untill that point

Sure, but someone in Russ' position will have figured out a long time ago how to square business as usual with their image of America as the good guys. Something big is going to have to happen for him to jump ship.

Not every threat is Bill. He's a major threat, but not the major threat. Y'all need to get some proper perspective.

I don't like it, but keeping things on the down-low for now is for the best. I definitely agree with @AProcrastinator about getting with Xanatos on setting things up for that aspect of the masquerade to be broken as gently as possible.

While I can see why Diseased Lunatic is withering away, it still burns my biscuits that we're not actually getting an appreciable counter-trait. As it stands, once Diseased Lunatic is gone, even with Omnidisciplinarian we're going to be the absolute weakest king out there in terms of personal stats.

I'm all up for magical integration, but probably not right now or by ourselves.

Didnt our intreuge raise by the same amoubt the trait went down, and isnt the stat applicable to more things? Or am i wrong?
