Hmmmm, with the Sanderson's most recent failures I am betting their souls are bargain bin level items demon wise...

Also doesn't Janna know the guy who is kinda sorta probably either next in line or third in line after his mother to rule over all demons?

Guy has serious anger management issues but is overall kind of a bro.... Also if we can get him to collab with Janna I am betting we can end up buying the sanderson sister's from him in exchange for the change to beat up marco with no consequences so long as he lives....

And marco would probably let him if it meant helping Janna get stronger and let them get closer to saving star.

We really need to get that alliance going now

Shego needs to be briefed and brought on board this turn Xanatos next turn and We'll need the Other Dimension Inator online post haste.

Toffy is kicking off NOW.

We need that power armor now as well.

As for the book, well. I really don't want the book, it contains too much dark knowledge. While I trust Janna, she's an impressionable young woman, has an evil mentor, and would probably be willing to resort to some pretty dark stuff if she's desperate enough.

That said, it's actively easier to steal it than it is to give it back, and Pandarus is not so valuable a contact that I'd be willing to sacrifice a free magic book to improve our relations. Trade the book with Xanatos for the Mad Mojo one?

Agreeing to keep things quiet doesn't mean you're outright swearing to never consider the masquerade again, just that 'fixing it' is not going to involve ripping it down any time soon... or doing anything foolish like spellcasting in public, offering potions that are marketed as potions, or saying "Hey! Magic is real, and you need to listen to me!"

[X] "All right, I get it. I'll keep things on the down low for now."

The first choice might be a good choice to boost Russ' loyalty. The second is just easy, even if our rolls here have gone to poop after the sandersons popped up

unfortunately it's way too valuable to get rid of and Considering its contents in the context of considering its contents in the context ofMolly looking at the disguised Janna it's extremely likely it has something very useful in it.

We are going to have to trust her ability to use Evil magic without going too far.

we desperately need a magical power house and she is our best bet for that.

So he wouldn't complain if we start making preparations to Slowly introduce things?

like Potions as DEI pharmaceuticals so long as it's not clearly magic?

or other things of that nature?

John Carpenter's The Thing meets Aliens vs. Predator: The Musical was a very fun play, even if you did find yourself wincing at all the simulated gore and profanity that was weaved into the lyrics. Come to think of it, maybe you weren't on Broadway.
Predator The Musical does have a very nice tune:

"Yes. He was here. That item you were worried about? He bought it." Molly paused a moment. "And he had a wizard with him. Strong. She called herself…"
"Lord Feldrake."
Huh. You know, that might be a heritable title, so it's not impossible for it to be passed on to Janna, if Feldrake makes her his heir.

Yes...Unfortunately Janna taking the book might be for the best, all things considered. Even leaving aside what the hell Pandarus wanted to do with it, a lot of people who'll be most likely to find it will be evil magic users, the Huntsclan, or random civilians, all of which are likely to.end badly for lots of people. At least if Janna has it, she has us to try to keep her from doing anything unforgivable, and if we pass that Intrigue check, it'll be as if the book vanished alongside the sisters. Plus Janna will get her creepy magic book she wanted from this trip.

Sure. He's asking us to keep the masquerade going for now, not stop doing anything magical.

We keep doing what we're doing for a couple of turns then when the prophecy happens we can do whatever we want anyway. It's barely a inconvenience.

Maybe going the other way would have us better in place when the masquerade falls but the low risk option doesn't really hurt us in anyway.

Winnifred scrambles up from the holy ground, and screeches as her feet begin to steam and glow beneath her. "Accursed child! Accursed apothecary! Accursed wizards and witches all!"

Winnifred Occult Check: Spit one last curse
87+30+20+20+5+30 (Dramatic Last Words)=192
Doofenshmirtz Occult Contest:
33+4+20(I do the cursing around here)+45+30 (Hallowed Ground Bonus)=132

You feel a terrible wind whip through the cemetery as the witches begin to chant. You can hear Puck try to drown them out with his own witty repartee, but for some reason he sounds like he's coming from the other end of the tunnel.

"Hear me well and hear me wise, though meet we now with our demise. To stone we turn on hallowed ground, but peace, respite will not be found! With my last breath I do intone- thine doom as well, will come through Stone! I damn my soul now unencumbered. This city's days, I say, are numbered!"

Something has been sped up.
To Be Continued in: Twelfth Night
As Winnifred finishes her spiteful verse, the light and smoke grows to blinding intensity.

"Smile, girls." Mary says morosely.

Winnifred scowls and clenches her fists in fury.

"Winnie, don't make that face." Sarah says. "It'll… freeze... like… that…"

There is a blinding flash. When you can see again, the witches are gone. In their place are three tombstones, of Sarah, Mary, and Winnifred Sanderson, each crowned by a horrifying statue of dark stone.

---

From an alcove, another figure skulked. This one popped open a small device, and Molly spoke in her angry, synthetic tones.

"Yes. He was here. That item you were worried about? He bought it." Molly paused a moment. "And he had a wizard with him. Strong. She called herself…"

"Lord Feldrake."

Quest: Moolah and Magic completed!
Janna has met up with Brocamas! She can do jobs for the leprechaun and possibly obtain magical items in return! 'Work for Brocamas' Personal Action unlocked!
Multiverse's Best Sandwich, Scrolls of Jo-Lan, Crystal Key, and Yáng Talisman obtained!
You have made a reasonable first impression on the Glooms! This warlock duo is of… questionable competence, to say the least, but they do seem to know quite a bit about the interdimensional scene, and they also have a couple magical artifacts on hand. They have been added to your Rolodex!
You have made a decent first impression on Magica De Spell! The witch will be open to buying unwanted magical artifacts off of you in the future.
You (well, Janna, but close enough) have made a favorable first impression on Eli Pandarus, who has suggested he would be open to a collaboration in the future!
Janna has made a favorable first impression on Maxim Horvath! He suggested that he might be willing to part with an Encantus at a future date, but not for money!
Open Ties to Magical New York Diplomacy action unlocked!
Networking in public among prominent movers and shakers has let people see you for what you truly are. Most people in the know now think that you're a moron, but one who gets things done regardless, and the people you surround yourself with are clearly formidable. 'Diseased Lunatic of Danville' now only provides an increase of 7 to any Intrigue actions made against DEI.
Doof's Intrigue has increased by 3! Janna's Intrigue has increased by 2! Janna's Occult has increased by 3!
Agent Russ' Occult score revealed to be 15! Agent Russ is not a spell slinger, but he has spent decades dealing with them.

You may also gain a couple of other things, depending on how you vote this interlude.
And so the wicked witches have been totally wasted. Bravo Janna, jolly good show!
And who could Molly's mysterious benefactor be? Toffee? Bill? That guy from Tomorrowland? At least Winnie's curse is a bit more obvious, hinting at Demona.

Personally, I feel like we should vote to keep magic on the down low. It doesn't mean we can't do any more occult actions or forget about trying to incorporate magic into our public business. It just means we have to delay until we can ACTUALLY come up with a proper plan, not to mention get our foundation built. We don't even have a coven yet! Plus, brownie points with Russ.

As for Janna and the Evil Book....mpph, I would personally vote to return it, but I don't mind either decision in the long run.

Shame about the Dooftroop and Diseased Lunatic bonuses, but the loss of the former and reduction of the latter was expected.

Now then, NegaQuest writers, to your stations!

Ehhh. The city in danger is New York, so its mostly gonna be Xanatos' problem.

I'm not sure on which way to deal with the occult is best, though I am currently still leaning on keeping it hidden for now.

[ ] "You're wrong, and I'll prove it to you."

We are the diseased lunatic of Doofania what's magic on top of that? Nothing to lose in taking an anti masquerade stance. Plus I don't agree with secret wars. Better to live with a horrible truth than a beautiful lie. Keeping up the magic Masquerade 'for their own good' is unconvincing to me.

[ ] Yoink the Book (Moderate Intrigue Check to avoid anyone seeing you take it)

Shiny I want.

I'd rather trade it in with De Spell or Xanatos for a book that we'll actually be able to use to the fullest. Because seriously, do you think Doof would ever allow rituals powered by children to happen in his territory?

Ah, the dice come through for once. This seems to be the pattern: You have to take abuse early on in order to triumph at the end, a lesson Russ probably knows. Speaking of which, while losing our DL bonus is not great, a three-point Intrigue boost, to ALL Intrigue national actions...Yeah, fair trade.

of course I don't, but there's got to be more in the book than just one ritual. I think we should at least look over it to see what else is in it. Plus, the problem with giving it to DeSpell is that she already sold it to Pandarus. I think she might be legally/magically obligated to give it back to him if we give it to her to sell. If course that's not even touching the (frankly more likely in my mind) possibility that she'll just sell it at the next auction.

Write-in Plan thing: Disney Magic

  1. Occult - Research Magic Folklore/Bedtime stories
    • Get all the source material.
  2. Occult/Diplomacy - Focus Groups
    • Determine how to remake them tastefully.
  3. Stewardship - Production
    • This would be a multi-turn mess.
  4. Diplomacy - Get The Collection On-Air
    • Pretty sure broadcast television networks are based in NYC. That will be a problem.
The general idea is to create the message of "Spooky folks have morals and tales to tell".

You do know that we still have a dozen interludes left, right?

Good luck getting the book out of Janna(and Feldrake)'s grasp.

Does the three eye demon from Star vs Evil live in Hell? We might be able to trace Satan's energy from the book and open a gateway to literal Hell with our dimension inator once we built it.
