Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

*what color is this dress?*

Forum discussions can go to some weird places. This is why I love SV.
I believe You mean discussions on the nature of experience, the value of personal Quanta and our interpretations of said experiences as such.

So I restarted my fan art of Aperion.
I wasent really sure if I should have kept going with the injured angel, so I changed it to this instead.
It looks good as an impression piece, like a split frame captured by a cellphone, it doesn't show clearly because of the speed of the action, and it still projects the aura Apeiron has.

There's also the perk of magical index which gives joe the ability to make anyone a Esper, so that's another class of powered people that not only could be potentially more powerful than the average parahuman but due to their nature of messing with reality they also always trip up thinkers.
Is this FinalFantasyVI Espers or is it some other franchise?

Lord, take your time, your sanity and health comes first.

I have the strangest feeling even with ample evidence Joe gets his powers from fictional sources that the 'power tinker' is still going to stick. The PRT could easily associate any fictionally sourced tinker tech with Brockton Bay's previous second most famous tinker. I can imagine that after everyone saw what Apeiron did with 'Leet's' power Leet will get higher tinker rating.

Oh hey look at this, truck kun is back after 15- ish chapter. Hopefully it won't lead to the reveal of Joe's civilian identity. Even though it would be hilarious.
This is actually hinting at how Joe will eventually get the Travelers home safely. Many chapters from now we'll get to see Joe try and convince Krouse that all it will take is getting run into by Truck-kun and they'll be on their way!

*WTH is wrong with my autocorrect today? It keeps trying to correct "Joe" into "How" for some unfathomable reason.

Is it bad that I prefer the interlude chapters more than the actual chapters? There so many people that would have great reactions to a major event in-universe.
I like the interludes, as well as the various preambles and addendums, but I also like reading the actual tinkering. Jumping off from that a cool perspective would be to see one of the protectorate Tinkers getting inspired by Apeiron's stuff and going full fugue. Although I'm not sure how enjoyable that would be to read, Tinkers not knowing what they're doing might get pretty weird as a POV compared to Joe's more grounded Perk based understanding.

There are bound to be associations, but that would not affect L33t's tinker rating. A PRT rating is not about how strong or weak your power is, it's about the appropriate counter measures to be taken against a person.

If you go to the Wom wiki and you press a power, next to rating it will tell you what that power represents on a threat scale, and the appropriate response to it.

Anything else would not contribute to rating. It would be added to their file as a note. But that's it.

Even if people somehow assumed that Joe's power was a bud from L33t, it would just be a note added to the files of each of them. It would not increase or decrease their rating one bit.

After a certain rating it becomes pointless. Once you reach the "evacuate the city if he is hostile" it doesn't matter if your power doubles or triples after that, their response to you would still be "evacuate the city if he is hostile".

Now PHO on the other hand would likely do it for the fun of it. Sort of like VS threads both on PHO or on this site. Shit gets out of hand till a moderator steps in and slaps infractions on people or even closes the thread.

So do we have a good description of Apeiron's costume? The only details I've picked out are some kind of visor, a cloak, at least a few metal bits, the combat boots, an Omnitool, Garment's gloves, and a sidearm pistol and main arm rifle. And, of course, it all looks really, really nice. But I can't find a solid description of what he actually looks like. Is it angular? Smooth? Exoskeletal armor? Does he look like a Power Ranger wearing butler gloves and a bedsheet? How bulky is it? What *color* is it?! Aaagh!

I always imagine it as being dominant black and red with a visor but no helmet. Omnitool on his left arm, gun on his right hip. Otherwise though, I think it looks more like a formal uniform than armor. After all, he and everything he's wearing is all as durable as his most durable item so there's really no need to wear armor as such.

I think, at minimum, he's wearing bracers and leg guards of some sort, as well as armored boots. Given that he's wearing a variety of armored plates for inertial, thermal, chemical and kinetic resistance, I'd say that's four armor "slots", plus the weaponized boots. I picture mostly neutral tones so the "unnaturally white" gloves don't clash too much, given he's supposed to be incredibly fashionable. As for the armor itself, I think he has a bandolier or something? And pockets have been mentioned, so probably not skintight or made of metal, so a fabric fitted jacket of some kind with a bandolier across the chest. Which.... sounds weird to wear with a cape, but okay. Honestly, capes are difficult to accessorize with and plan around, given how attention-grabbing they are. Somehow Joe manages, I guess. And then there's the visor, which is difficult for me to picture. The Omnitool, as far as I can tell, is probably built into or alongside one of the bracers. Then the sidearm is probably holstered or magnetically locked to a thigh, while the rifle is either in a compact form along his lower back or slung across his upper back. And... pants. He's probably wearing pants, but screw me if I know what they look like.

Lord has mentioned that it's a combination of white, grey, and black tones, so probably white on the arms going to the gloves, a white cape with his symbol on it, grey coming up from the shin high armored boots, and black/grey coming up to the chest and to the face mask. I think I remember that he has a slated metallic visor (a la snake eyes) with dedicated eye holes/lights, along with a mask, as opposed to a full face mask. The jacket cape combination is a little odd, but keep in mind that it was originally just the jacket before garment descided to tag along. It's probably a slimmer jacket, maybe 1/2 thigh length, with plenty of compartments/pockets plus the bandalodier across the chest, and with the cape constantly fluttering to avoid looking like layers on layers.

Of course his whole outfit also just got destroyed. Has he gotten any relevant perks lately that change the way he'd make it when he rebuilds? Even of not he may way redesign it anyway. So we can imagine this art as what his next outfit looks like. Perhaps he'll decide to depend less on Fashion to protect him.

Is there anything that he can do to provide him with a more total kind of protection? Like, if he can make something like a god, it seems strange that his armor doesn't provide protection against things that metal doesn't normally protect against.

He has described the costumes as iterative versions of the same design, each recognizable as the same costume, just looking better, more professional, more edgy, etc.

Original costume parts consisted of
-a long coat with lots of pockets and a bunch of chrome embellishments added, which he admitted got a little away from him due to mad max perk influence making everything shiny and chrome.
-bandoliers with small containers (film canisters?) Of alchemy reagents
-a visor to cover his face, thrown together from workshop steel
-bandanas to disguise his hair/add fashion armor to his head
-a heavy steel bracer which I believe PHO mentioned only became visible once Uber tore the coat. So reinforcement items are under the coat/pants and not normally visible.
-presumably shirt, pants, boots

Notable design upgrades:
-less obnoxious/ more professional looking chrome embellishments
-nice cowl instead of bandannas
-garment style embroidery on coat
-visor is now visibly Tinker tech/hud (his eyes used to be visible in the visor slits, as he was fairly sure Weld saw them glowing blue in the bay)
-celestial boots (no idea how to imagine that visually. Damn good boots)
-bandoliers were originally thrown together/messy, but he mentions them being incorporated in later outfits, so maybe they're like IN the coat material now?
-Mass effect solid light engineering omni-tool interface, which I BELIEVE he has described as no longer being standard mass effect orange, but I'm not super sure on that one.

That's about all I can remember without digging for citations.

Edit: I F***ING FORGOT TO PUT GARMENT AND THE CAPE IN THE UPGRADES PART FFS WHAT EVEN IS MY BRAIN

The boots are from 'gears of war' so just Think combat boots with lights to show dust and technology and also fashionable so just make it RGB because RGB is fashionable for technology this year but I'm not sure, this story is set in 2011 I don't know the fashion of technology on 2011if it was the early 2000's it would be clear plastic to show of the insides
