Oof, it's imposible to follow the thread now that I'm back to work...
I have quotes from the Mesozoic era here...
People who remember reading, colors, or scents in dreams are said to be misinterpreting things somehow, which always sounded weird to me. That's what I was representing here. I'm not enough of an expert in dreams to give any definitive statement, but Joe was expressing the same kind of doubts with the common statements about dream states.
Random comment on reading in dreams: I'm able to 'obtain the meaning of writing' by looking at writing, but NOT able to correlate that meaning to what's actually depicted (the correct word shapes to actually have that meaning if someone were reading it), and if I look at it repeatedly trying to confirm what shapes are actually written, it continually changes with each mental scan. Brains are fun.
Speaking of reading in dreams like I'm using a computer in a dream and I go to look at the address of the web page and I can understand the meaning but it keeps shifting or like I can grasp a couple letters of it and then I move on to the next and then when I grasped which I only grasp the meaning of but not actually what they were slips my mind dreams are wacky yo.
I always hated the belief that pinching yourself wakes you up. I've had and have dreams that feature pain, sometimes quite significant. A pinch means nothing in a potential dream
Me too, but it's always been from pain or discomfort upon my real body outside the dream.
Pain does not wake me up either, it's the werewolf with a unicycle as it's legs
I'm also one of those people whose "pain" doesn't wake me up nethier.
I loved the conversation about dreams and differing human perspectives, one of the main reasons that I read these stories is to see how different characters and people see the world. I keep reminding people that
The Dress was a real event, that has been studied, people literally perceive the world differently, not only visually, the way we pay attention to things, the way we listen to different things , words, tones, everything. Everyone is living in a different world, and it's a miracle we can communicate with each other at all. Dreaming is a reflection of our experiences and how we dealt with them, and this is before considering mental issues or traumas, Neuro-atypicalities like Asperger's, Autism, etc...
Oh hey look at this, truck kun is back after 15- ish chapter. Hopefully it won't lead to the reveal of Joe's civilian identity. Even though it would be hilarious.
It's hilarious and touching how Joe is still saving the city with his truck. I expect that the boxing gym would survive the emp bomb so may also be an evacuation site?
As many other I didn't realize until commented upon, this was such a beautiful detail. Thankyou!
What could a man who saw the highest level of combat but also maintained enough humor and grace to maintain a joke cape name say about the situation in Brockton Bay? What could a divorced father who's only daughter was head of the LA Wards team think about the conduct of young parahumans in a disaster area on the other side of the country? Why would I bother any of that?
I for one like Interludes, especially interesting ones.
Make Chen Interludes, where he goes as Mechasifting Invisible Chinese Warrior.
"You bast*** kidnappers! You are courting Death! I, your Father, will teach you!"
Feck the Interlude haters, I want the point of view of every "shaker and mover" in the story, we can extrapolate nobodies, but I love the PoV's from everyone that matters. Like some diamond handed apes say "WE LIKE THE INTERLUDES!"
Oh, and some Chen adventures would be magnificent.
I think a big part of it is Joe though. He's not willing to work with 'inferior' tech.
This was originally deeply rooted in his
TRAUMA it was so masterfully presented that looked like a simple character quirk, then laid bare by Imp of all people, and he is now actively working on not being like this.
You know I just realize that once Joe figures out Aura granting, he can do better than cauldron at power granting heck not only Aura but also Transhumanism too, like cyborgs and stuff, while also giving them weapons and armor that would allow them to take mid to high(depending) Parahumans. Tho that brings the question is there anything else in the celestial forge that provides other power granting options? Like maybe some magic or psychic powers.
He is at
Hive Daughter levels of killing cannon and once the danger of the entities has passed, he will usher mankind in a golden age, like Hive!Tailor and her bestie Hive!Dragon did.
