Strategy isn't my business, but since we can 2shot the health study with the individual Metal study, we need to get the lands surveyed
[X][Caravan] Attempt peaceful contact
[X] [Challenge] Survey Lands (-1 Econ, improved odds of success)

[X] [March] Yes, send out the warriors (-5 Martial, -2 Econ)

We are overflowing with martial and this will see it lowered into a more manageable level, plus a new march i always nice.
We must remember our roots and hold on to our diplomatic ways. Remember the circle.
I hope that by doing this we might gain some better tools and weapons, seeing as the only "metal weapon we have are upgrades from our old flint weapons (with the exception of daggers). This indicates that while we have applied iron to our existing tools, we have yet to truly innovate with it.
On second though, lets make sure the people find another metal deposit first, if we are forced to do this on the last turns then my finger nails will be no more. And clearing this challenge will be top priority.

On another note: Arrow volley for the win! This should prove quite a nasty surprise for anybody invading us.

Ok in order to be able do do this challenge we will need at least 1 more mysticism and 2 more stability if we want to avoid going into the negatives, we really need to figure out what policy to set our provinces on to get them to support this.

@Academia Nut
This turn's Challenge Study Metal/Tailings does not count to fulfil req. right?
I think it does
You mean a civilization that isn't a "special snowflake" that has "TREES", "NEEDLES!", "All the PEOPLE" or all the "IRON". We could attack everyone right now and we'd ROLFstomp them. We're the equivalent of dropping the Romans onto early copper age Greece.
Well your maybe right on the last part.
That doesnt change the fact that whether this game is historical or not matters little as nomad is a human problem.
As long as we dont play an alien civilIzation game, nomad shall remain as usual.

Am I the only one thinking that we might get the opportunity to turn the new nomads into a NE march if we roll well? Because, if that is the case then creating a NW march now put us at our limit when it comes to periphery states.

Challenge Plan

1. [Main] Study Tailings (-1Stab)
1. [Secondary] Policy: Balanced/Restoration
1. Free Secondary, more Survey Lands if we don't find another Mine? Stability option?

2. [Main] Study Health
2. [Main] Study Metal (-1Stab)

This leaves
3. [Main] Build Mine (-1Stab)

Eww, no expanding our northern border

Peaceful traders, hopefully the start of a Silk Road equivalent.

Survey land to find more Iron.

Our martial is in red, and it doesn't overflow, that might be dangerous, and building a march would expand the area survey land covers.

Martial needs to bleed off right the hell now.
[] Attempt peaceful contact
The worse happens the new march eats it. Them being a trade caravan and the march gets a major boost. Incharacter to test the waters first. Don't want a paranoia trait or instant negative reactions to outsiders.

The next part is trickier. A survey can be done, but guarantees nothing... which makes it best as a supplemental. Mine requires it to succeed so its going to be needed until completed. OTOH Study metal and study tailings are anytime with no prerequisites. So one of them must go first. Survey lands is the one thing we can subcontract out to the provinces without issue.

Restore Order failed blandly. It wasted options... thanks dice. So we are going to need to run secondary main grand sacrifice at some point.

Build mine is second or third turn. We have to find it first. I'm thinking study Health/tailings the second turn. Tailings is a new topic so it will get the biggest boost from study health. So:
[] Study Metal (-1 Econ, -2 Mysticism, -1 Stability, improved chance of new insights)

[X] [March] Yes, send out the warriors (-5 Martial, -2 Econ)
[X] [Caravan] Attempt peaceful contact
[X] [Challenge] Study Metal (-1 Econ, -2 Mysticism, -1 Stability, improved chance of new insights)

So turn order: Half turn study metal as The People have experience with that. First turn grand sacrifice (stability faction strong) and find the mine location. Second turn study health and tailings. Then third turn mine and whatever. Unless first turn leads to subcontracting finding a mine location to mine.

We should set the provinces to balance or econ while we focus on this.

Not gonna lie, I really kinda want to attack the Nomads. Full iron armour is basically impervious to arrows not specifically built to deal with it.

I;m not convinced about building another march that far away from us, we are really beginning to over extend in that direction.
