Eh, give the Game Enders (because suicide voters sounds far less cool) some time.

The QM's are talking about things, and I'm pretty hopefully about that. This has been an ongoing set of issues, and hopefully they'll have some solid solutions to the mechanical issues that lead to this current issue (and some path issues).

Personally, I'm hoping that this gets resolved reasonably, probably without a retcon with with the acknowledgement that this was unreasonable and attempts to address some of the mechanical problems. My second preference is [-] Action Plan: The Watchtower, and my third is suicide.

I'm a lurker here, and have been enjoying watching the quest for quite a while. I'm really disappointed with the way things went, but I'd like to give this the best chance it has to continue. This is a really awesome community of people, with really, amazingly dedicated QMs, and if I can help pad the vote to give extra opportunities for rational discussion over what happened and what will happen, then I that's what I'll do.

[X] Lore Update
[X] Poll: Move MfD to a weekly update to take some strain off the GMs

I'd vote in the agency poll, but since I'm not an active member I'm not sure I'm comfortable weighing in on that. It seems pretty unanimous so far, anyway.

Either way, even if this dies or continues in a direction I'm not interested in following, my thanks to the QMs and players for making such a remarkable work of collaborative fiction.

As a passive reader who rarely reads plans, especially not in great detail, I don't understand how I was meant to know that this information was leaked. Given the chapter prior ended on a calm note with nobody making any indication that they were upset, especially not the ever-transparent Kagome, it seems to me a reader would generally be expected to fill in the gaps we weren't shown with fairly sane actions. Though I didn't vote this round, I expect many voters are in a similar position. This would be different if the conversation, and people's reactions to this suggestion, was actually written out.

Generally speaking, if information is this vital to the voters and is likely to have visible outcomes (eg. people acting weird, Kagome getting fidgety), it should be in the story.

So this Kagome thing came out of nowhere for me but I usually oniy read story posts and QM posts it hasn't hit me as hard as other players. So I'm quitting this quest for a couple weeks again, so I can read the resolution and the next few updates without worriying about the horrible consequences every post.

QM's I totally support whichever action you take so long as you can keep the story going in a general direction of somewhere.

Quick question.

Didnt Minami use a mist-endurance technique on us to gather intel.

Any ideas on how she knew that and Hazou or the others didnt?

When Minami finally let him go, it was with a promise that they'd make camp earlier tomorrow, to let him get extra sleep if he needed it. Hazō had refrained from mentioning that going forty-eight hours without sleep was part of Mist's standard Academy endurance training.

Epistemic value: this is the result of about an hour of highly emotional time, so it's definitely not the most clear post I've ever written and I'm probably missing many sides to this. I do have good intent tpward making the rest of this quest happen as positively as possible, both in story and out of story.

First, as a lurker who has followed the quest since the beginning and read every post of the nearly 2500 pages, I want to say: Thank you, EagleJarl, OliWhail, Verlorien, for all that you've done over the last year and a half. This quest has been a significant portion of my limited headspace. Reading it has made my life more enjoyable. I literally cannot thank you enough.

However, I think a fundamental issue in this thread is that the QMs see the quest primarily as an attempt to rationally simulate the Naruto-world. Simultaneously, the players care only a little about that goal and care mostly about it being a fun game that is written extremely well by some very talented QMs.

Many of the players are acting out here (see suicide voting) because they see no way forward for this quest to be a fun game. This also leads to one of the other primary plans, Watchtower, the only real plan that succeeds in keeping it a game. I honestly see no other way for this to continue existing as a quest other than it. It just won't be fun. I get that we're probably not going to get to redo the past, but right now I wish that I had a time machine so that I could fix this.

[Side note: man, I haven't cried for a lot of things in a long time. The last time was one of the scenes in this quest a while back when we were having a good time with the group. I'm bawling atm.]

As a point of information: We didn't set out to screw you, and we didn't deliberately hold back information. We're all busy folk and it was only Wednesday afternoon (London time) that we realized what had happened and what the realistic consequences would be.

This is an example of where I see the difference in thought about the point of the quest. You'd probably collectively already had 20-30 hours of looking at the world before realizing that it had happened. The players collectively might have about that much time dedicated to each plan, but not as in deep, because it's split between many more people. If the quest were meant as a game, I would think that you would either have said something and stopped the plan from being enacted or simply have ignored that.

Because of this misunderstanding (as I see it), it seems to many players, especially lurkers who aren't knowledgeable about the QMs or the rationality community, that the QMs are intentionally trying to be mean to the players. I believe that the QMs are not causing this intentionally.

In light of all of this, I'm voting for the following:

[X] Poll: Move MfD to a weekly update to take some strain off the GMs

The only current plan that would allow the players to continue playing the game:

[X] Action Plan: The Watchtower

As an action of prolonging decision time to get better plans:

[X] Action Plan: Lore Update

This is my vote for making it more like a game and less like a realistic simulation of the Naruto-verse:

[X] Poll (Agency): Yes, I want to give up some control of Hazō such that he will generally follow the plan but the GMs will make him do whatever they think is sensible whenever we (the players) vote in something that they (the GMs) think is inappropriate for Hazō-the-character to do. I fully understand that "inappropriate" and "whatever they think is sensible" are subjective and might not be things I approve of or would prefer and I promise not to complain about it in those cases.

Well, at the very least we should be able to conclusively convince the Nara that, yeah, we really are just a bunch of lucky screw-ups.

[X] Lore Update
As a lurker who probably wouldn't be able to provide much to the hivemind, I personally wouldn't feel right voting in the poll or for any action plans in general.
But hopefully a lore update will give everyone time to calm down and process what just happened.

And I just want to say to the QMs and all the participants here; Thank you. Thank you for taking the time to write this story, for taking the time to write the plans, and for providing entertainment for plenty of us lurkers out there.

Keep being Awesome.

Also, I have a suggestion for the future that would allow us to hopefully regain some support from the rest of the group. It would likely not be helpful for this update, however.

[X] Poll (No Talking): We are not ever again allowed to talk to anyone other than Mari, Keiko, Jiraiya, or Kagome (only on the subject of seals), until this poll is cancelled by a future poll or one of those previously mentioned (other than Kagome) instructs us to, unless it is a matter of life/death.

Alternative for those who don't like this idea: [] Poll (Talking): Yes, please

I understand that this is tough, but in many ways our speaking to people about something that we shouldn't have has caused all the major mistakes in this quest. This seems like the only realistic way to avoid these problems in the future, and a rational thing for Hazou to decide to do.

Between going missing-nin with Kagome and returning to Leaf a Pariah, I vote Kagome. I don't want a massive timeskip, though...

    [X] Action Plan: Commit Suicide
-[X] Silently stand up, give Akane the necklace.
-[X] Pick a direction, run until your skywalkers run out or chakra exhaustion takes hold.
[X] Action plan: Stutter, stammer and otherwise babble incoherently for a few moments. Error, rebooting.

-[X] We should continue the mission now and delay deciding on Kagome's future until such a time as delay is no longer possible. This is a big decision that does not need to be made at night hundreds of feet in the sky and covered in blood.
-[X] Stare into space a lot and mindlessly follow orders for the next few days.
