I don't really get why SV always thinks quality is better than quantity.
Quantity is a quality all its own, but in this case given our terrain and the high likelyhood that we'll be fighting defensive wars more than anything in the foreseeable war future(unless someone starts raping trees to make poison bombs or something an we get mad), our numbers will not be put to as good use.
In this case it is more advantageous to have what numbers we CAN make use of in the forests and hills be flipping amazing.

Tally is still somewhat borked from bold tags, but readable

The thing you quoted actually shows that his relationship with his "mothers" actually had weight to it and he actually wants to marry one (or more) of them after this mother passes.

Honestly, the fact he didn't want to take care of the babies when he was younger was more damning...
Do people not realize he's just legitimized and established a dynasty with close ties to a foreign polity? I don't give a shit about him 'doing right by the girl' I care about the fact he just made himself son-in-law/brother-in-law to the King of the Highlands and that now we're going to have to deal with his kids having the immense advantage of having foreign influence they can use to make themselves a more appealing candidate.

He just did exactly what Magwyna wanted to prevent and established his dynasty as, at the very least First Amongst Equals against the various oligarchal families that rule the People.

The King is considering marrying the HK's princess, which will actually cement our alliance.

Surely she has a brother or similar :p

Really though, this is a little bit unfortunate since it sounds like his kid will have a legitimate claim to the throne down there...

This is why homosexuality is better for political marriages.

Basically looking at history the most elite armies can often work the best.

Actually, Roman army was not the highest quality, it's just that they invented the concept of Total War: that is, while others were more used to fighting-losing a couple of battles-making some sort of peace deal, Romans kept throwing army after army after army after army after army after army into the meatgrinder.

So, well, at least Romans are actually clear Quantity army with high discipline.

Loyalty is how we get massed combat. Having your warriors stand firm and disciplined is better than having a few elites.

Agreed, I was leaning towards it too (and have now voted for it). I wanted to make sure that you were aware that the chances of solving the problem directly were fairly low.
*shrug* Even if it doesn't solve the problem, the benefits we'd get are still more significant than the ones provided by the immediate cessation of the metal superstition.
If Symphony gets evolved, we win super hardcore. If Heroic Death evolves, we either gain a lack of trouble from war or an expansion of its effect. If Observance evolves, we may/not solve the problem but regardless get a buff to science.

I expect that the evolution may be linked to what war trait we choose. Overwhelming numbers = Heroic Death; Loyalty = Symphony; Quality Training = Observance.

so you want potentially disloyal well trained soldiers? ie well trained traitors?

Well no, but the trait is "loyalty" - it doesn't say loyalty to what, exactly. I'd interpret it as personal loyalty to the warriors' commander, not to the overall leader of the People - which could lead to the problem I said - for example, atm our leader isn't doing much to win the loyalty of our warriors, as he isn't out there fighting alongside them. Who is? The leader of the Stallions - who have wanted to become King for three(?) generations now and have been denied. I don't really think it's a good idea to give these guys a group of warriors that feel personal loyalty to them.

In addition, just because we don't pick loyalty doesn't mean that our warriors will be disloyal. It's just they won't be as loyal as they would be otherwise. Also, the word loyal has lost all meaning to me now...

Possible... however what we did not do is is the mass intermarriage plan that would have gelled the noble class and likely given us Family Values. For me at least this is pretty close to and ideal outcome.

Well going by this he is actually considering it, not done it yet.

He had mostly grown out of that, but he had still been assigned to help take care of more than one of his new 'siblings', which while as a stupid young man had grated on him somewhat, but once he had grown up a bit more he had realized that he was just being an whiny idiot and of course he should have some responsibility for his own kids. Although that of course might trigger some of the problems his mother and the chiefs had been trying to avoid by actually producing family ties with foreign families, if anyone outside realized what had happened.

Given the evolution of events, it might actually be a good idea to legitimize his relationship with Fodenna after the passing of his mother.
We'll know next update for sure what he did.

That is what the Quality vote is all about, so you might want to switch your vote

Edit: goddamnit, didn't even want to tally

[X] Evolve spiritual value (-7 Mysticism)

We need to evolve observance if we want long-term resistance to superstition. Fixing our present superstitions is great, but we're just going to get more.
