On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

My attempt at this

[] Write-in: [Less than 100 words, 3 main points about what you focus on when sharing your knowledge about Elven politics with Snorri Whitebeard.] Malekith is Bel Shannar's only remaining political rival. Malekith might be looking for political expediency over other concerns. The dawi and other elgi live here, Malekith does not, he made no mention of the cleanup or potential waystone backlash. Snorri has an alternative distraction in mind.

On the topic of understand runecraft, we're at 3 progress. The still field finishes on T61, at which point we'll be at +13 progress minimum. Snorri should be building a smelter this turn so that's at least +1. The big question is what happens when Snorri builds Skaud. The storm should be coming next turn and it's likely things will get weird again. I hope we get to find out how much progress manifesting the glittering realm brings lol.

If we are putting in rough plans for the write-in, reminder to keep in mind that Whitebeard probably already knows a lot about Elf politics, considering how closely he's been working with them, and the fact that as the High King, they're poltics also matter to him more then it does for Snorri, as it's an entirely separate empire who he has to keep track of to know how to react to them for the best of the entire Karak Ankar.

So in order to not be rude we better keep that in mind for the tone.

Like, an confirmation that you both are on the same page regarding the info then anything else more lecturey, or overexplaining it as if Whitebeard doesn't have an idea about it.

Chances are there are angles he hasn't noticed due to maybe not having an Elven point of view to draw from, but he'll be far from unknowing about it.

somehow manage to finish the dragon gronti ahead of time to be the distraction

High king: well no one can snorri the gift giver does not deliver, that is one hell of a distraction, now if only my army is also not being distracted.

Another thought that I had.

Focus on specific information we have through Myrion and the link between Gimli and his Legolas.

Write-in: [Less than 100 words, 3 main points about what you focus on when sharing your knowledge about Elven politics with Snorri Whitebeard.] Through our elvish contacts, we know that some elves of Tor Vernath are asking for Bel'Shannar's assistance and thus putting Malekith in a bind. The Mages Malekith visited were suppressed by Bel'Shannar since he could not ally with them and do not have much incentive to care about magical backlash to the people living here - only that Malekith their patron succeeds and spites Bel'Shannar. Gimli, Son of Gloin, is friends with Prince Laequalys of Tor Vernath and Laequalys may know more.

idea, if the soul version of a dwarf is linked to the health of the dwarf in question, would say taking the soul version of beer to give to the soul dwarf help speed up healing rates? we know objects can be in soul form since we see dwarves wearing clothes on their soul bodies(?) big maybe on that last one, might just be their soul shifted into looking like clothes, instead of their most used outfits also being soul bonded to their soul

[x] Write-in:
-[x]The Phoenix king is likely to get directly involved in the war soon bringing extra reinforcements.
-[x]Malekith knows this and is likely hurrying not just to save lifes, but also to prevent the Phoenix king from stealing his thunder.
-[x]You suspect that Malekith might be downplaying the level of devastation the ritual he is planning is likely to cause. Which says a lot.

The Vote hasn't started yet, you should get rid of the Xs.

Karstah blinks, a random thought hitting her mind and refusing to let go.

"What's the brew look like with your new eye?" she asks, unable to deny her curiosity.

Master Snorri grunts in amusement.

"Color's a little clearer, but it's not a big enough difference from the old one. About as magical as the wood in this room. Does strange things to the soul though…" he trails off, squinting as he looks at her strangely.

"Like what?" she asks.

Master Snorri doesn't say anything, but then he huffs casually, "If it'll keep you from leaving that bed, very well"

As he gets into the details, Karstah listens.
This is the equivalent of "daddy tell me a story" except the child is 392 years old

Many interesting things going on.

I can only imagine the chaos that comes with The High King visiting Khazagar.
What about running a competition while he is there challenging the beardlings to think about solving one of the Ankor-wide challenges: Long distance communication (Like the Burudin challenge)!

I believe that would go well to show the King how this gathering of runesmiths can be used to help the Karaz-Ankor as a whole.

As a reward, we can offer the opportunity to hold and investigate the KKR. That should make the most proficient runesmiths willing to participate.
And if we post the competition immediately, people have seven years to prepare their submissions.

If we're going to be spending multiple terms devoting so many actions to a gronti, I hope it'll be something that is deployed in campaign on expeditions almost constantly.

We sent the Miner away for years to help extend the Ubderway westwards into the Old World, which shows that gronti can operate autonomously.

Particularly if Karstah decides to donate her T5 reagent to the project.

The gronti is simply too valuable and the opportunity cost of using it as an ornamental feature for Khazagar too great for it to keep it at home. Better for it to be out there proactively building good will for us and our institution, acting as a giant flying advertisement for our approach to rune crafting.

With the level of investment that's being proposed for the gronti, it's a war winning super-weapon in its own right, and is an incredibly valuable means of rapidly projecting power that the dwarves currently lack.

i must have missed it in the list somehow. where the learing magical elf thing??
sounds like a good thing to put effort in now thats she is about too leave.

might help going forward with other projects later.

Malekith's ambition, possibility of these mages planning ritual being a bit reckless and maybe even some trolling from Morathi aside, I think their plan has a point regarding how costly this war against fimir has become. Even if we assume the worst case for Malekith's intentions, high king may still choose to go along with it.

On that light, should we talk about Adamant Gronti we are planning to make? Without ritual almost ending everything, there will still be many lives lost but if preserving dwarven and elven lives is the goal dragon combined with Snorri can help on that front immensely. Should we talk about this in the write-in as a point? Sort of taking the hard and bloody path, albeit less bloody than it would be thanks to Snorri+Dragon combo going all in, to not go with a ritual that may cause some unknown problems centuries later on.

Cool, sorry to have to check but with the scope creep on this, there are 100% people who would want to spend a whole turn on each item.
I mean in terms of the amount of items actually getting built that hasn't changed since late 2023, and that design has been present on the discord, but I understand that impression when I haven't shared it in thread because it was pointless to vote on until recently.
