On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I agree we need to get the language down, but also, we should work on the clue and waystones, first because it looks like Yorri can help, second because we have things attacking them specifically now

...Skarri:Okay, I got to ride on your back, waving my spear like a wazzok. Now let's never do that again.
Thunder Wing: (I give it a month before he goes for another round.)

*Entirely too soon by any reasonable dawi's standards*

Skarri: Alright, that was a good-what are you looking at Thunder Wing.
Thunder Wing: That Dragon Prince over there.
Skarri:...And his nice, long lance. Don't you dare.
Thunder Wing: Oh don't mind me, I just want to talk.

Prince: Hail! Good to see there are Dawi who enjoy the thrill of the skies!
Skarri: Aye, though I will say I enjoy my time with good solid ground under my feet. I've no time for some silly sky jousting!
*pregnant pause*
Dragon/Thunder Wing/Prince: SKY JOUSTING YOU SAY!?
Skarri: Dolgi will never let me live this down will he.

So, anyone considering what to do after the war seeing how far we pushed our research so far?
I can't find some of the proposed road maps, but there were some big things people wanted done before the next Conclave.

Stuff like Akazit, Happening of Things, and Rune Metal.

That said, I won't deny that new developments has kind of shifted my priorities. Two big things for me.

Studying Thungni's Master Rune, and material research. Aside from that, I find myself really invested in going further into Rune Metal.

Looking into Thungni's Master Rune, as well as finishing off the current part of Movement, seems like a good way to approach Thungni's riddle.

Material research seems so important because of how much it gives to Akazit, as well as other branches, beyond additional sources of reagents. Seems like a good idea to take advantage of this, rounding out Snorri's foundations before tackling the real thing. That said, Akazit is definitely the biggest thing Snorri could reveal. Which, I feel would kind of necessitate finishing off Anöqueyan.

My renewed interest in Rune Metal progress is because it seems like a happy medium. It's a huge deal for the Dawi as a whole, breaking new ground, while also fitting in with Snorri's biggest problems. That said, I think I'm remembering some things here. Let me put it like this.

In order to progress Mind of Things, and get access to Holocron tech, we need a higher tier of metal. Higher than Adamant.

Except, in order to do that, we need to make our forge better. Which seems like a perfect reward for learning Akazit and Anöqueyan, as that involves Transmutation.

So maybe things aren't that different than how they originally were, at least as it relates to Mind of Things and Rune Metal stuff.

Akazit -> Rune Metal -> Mind

Though, as I said, my feelings about our approach to Akazit are more complicated now.

Is Transmutation with Anöqueyan needed, we've already started it?

Is it better to brute force Akazit, keeping the material research in reserve and value it mostly occasional progress in other branches?

As for how the whole thing with Thungni will fit in, as well as Happening of Things, I have no clue.

And, none of that mentions any investment on the workshop.

This is just where my thoughts are floating around, I plan to listen to the experts.

Though…that banner the Hearthguard made, with the giant silvered wolf skull, seems like a perfect base for the project we've been planning for them. We've got progress with the Rune of Brotherhood, and the symbolism tied to wolf packs and stuff should fit nicely. As well as the story of how they claimed the skull.

Anyway, I might as well actually look at the vote.

[X] Brynna quietly watching a group of Zornish warriors go about their duties.

I always like getting more time with the local Runelords.

[X] Let them come to you. Random Encounter.

I can get behind the idea of Snorri leaning into his position as an honored and mysterious elder lol.

[X] Vragni Silverbrand and his horde of attendant apprentices.

Oof, torn on this one. I'm afraid that it could end poorly, but it'll certainly prove interesting.

I also throw in expanding the hearthguard in here after war and researching wardstones so we can start hiding stuff like waystones

We should give the Hearthguard banners.
Even if just putting Karstah Heir actions towards making them during Research turns.
Fully willing to commit Snorri actions if anyone else would support that.
Will also be posting a set of three banners to put forward for it myself when closer to the next actual turn. Will vote for anyone else's banners as well though.

On votes.
Vragni - Productivity rival. We must set a good example, he already has the conviction to create lots of items but he needs to be shown what real quality is as well to avoid compromising his standards.
Skarrenbakraz will be motivational for him.
Also just because him getting indignant while Snorri barely acknowledges their rivalry is amusing to me.

Sven - Very radical, does lots of cooperation. Also one of the not so new Runelords we haven't actually spoken to.

Mystery Box because it is a mystery box. Placing odds now that someone wants a commission.

Already know what Brynna wants to see during this campaign. Not interested in talking to her until after we have fought.

Man. If we put that rune of siphoning on a banner and have that banner be planted in the grounds as our College Flag/Banner or whatever, will that allow us to mix the Banner and Structure runes?

I kind of want to make
MThungni - purification - siphoning
for our college. Having the MThungni in such a pride of place will really give us a ridiculous level of legitimacy, along with it showing/dedicating this place as a temple of Thungni like all runesmithing workshops are.

I think it'd be better to see what the improved version of siphoning does but yeah I'd like to see what MThungni/deep magic/? would do. If nothing else, the improved version could go on the banner and then we spam siphoning on all the walls.

I think we have the talisman version of MThungni though which means we might have to reverse engineer and then convert it.

I really want to get that next tier of chainforging done relatively soon. I still feel kinda bad about making that really old Master Smith wait for us.

Yah I too want to finish up the chain cause we are on the last hurdle of it, finish our deed for it cause it unfinished(cross fingers it get up to mythical) and of course make it so our boy gormak can use some Gromril

I missed this so much. Sneraa's pout conquers the grumblings of millenia, and the comedy stylings of Skarri and Thunderwing! So, so good.

*pregnant pause*
Dragon/Thunder Wing/Prince: SKY JOUSTING YOU SAY!?
Skarri: Dolgi will never let me live this down will he.
Sky jousting would never work, assuming the goal is the same as regular jousting.
I.e to knock the other guy off his mount.
And considering the way the rider is secured to the mount, it would also be absurdly lethal.
If you can't knock someone off their mount because they're tied to it, they would take all the impact directly.
And if you could knock them off, they would fall to their death.
It would work as a duel to the death thing, but not as a sport.

Otoh, stunt flying that simulates am a aspect of combat could work.

Like aerobatics, precision landings and striking a small target with a lance would work, and be quite thrilling.

But tanking multiple lance strikes when you don't Regenerate is not the best idea.

An eye of Pure Gromil decorated with gold and black opal to mimic the appearance of an eyeball, seven triangular holes around the "pupil," emanate the light of Runecraft from within the hollow sphere.
So something kinda like this?
Went a little wild with the gradient tool with that one. ..also not much pupil just solid opal.

This is just plain colors and pretty much from Digimon.

Just noticed it says seven not six...... back to work.

Oooh, neato.
The opal would be smaller, and there'd be a cutout ring around like a kinda like a halo to let the light shine through from the back. There's also be the sort of patterns, knot and linework you see in a lot of Dwarf stuff all over the eyeball itself and on the gold as well, if only to break up the surface monotony somewhat.

Skarri has been subjected to riding Thunder Wing for nigh on a decade now. He has grown used to the bitter chill and thin air of high altitude, thanks in part to the clever application of Runic talismans he created after suffering without them for five years. And with the safety of his father's slowfall pack and modified leather harness, has learned to no longer grab hold for dear life whenever his friend decides to be particularly daring in her aerial acrobatics.

What he means to say is that this particular leap is going a bit too fast, too soon.

"So let me get this straight, you've got it in your head to have me wave around a spear like a wazzok while you fly through the air just like those Elgi dragon riders do?"

"Yes!"

"Why?"

"The logic goes that by riding a mount, me, the rider, that's you, can impart a greater deal of force through their weapon! We shall be a living bolt of steel and fury, screaming death and ruin from on high!"

"If that's the intent, why not just… I don't know, carry such a thing yourself? Not that it's arguably even necessary, can't you manage something similar with just your talons? I've seen you bring down unsuspecting Elk for most of my life, I don't think a big metal stick will do much more damage than what you already possess Thunder," Skarri says skeptically.

"The compliment is accepted, but you are looking at this incorrectly. I do not presume to set a precedent, start a movement or any similar goal, rather I wish to simply experience the act! I told you then that I would show you the wonders of the sky, and such an experience is not complete without knowing the thrill of hunting from the heavens, then striking at your prey from on high like a bolt of lightning made flesh! Know this my friend, I do this for you, not for myself."

I'm fairly sure I never asked for this, he thinks. Only to yelp as his companion starts poking at him with her beak, clearly sussing out his feelings on the matter and finding them wanting.

"Damn you, stop it! Bah! Sure, sure, why not! Just stop pecking my arm, you feathered ball of insanity. I imagine you want me to build this lance doohickey too don't you?" he says in exasperation.

He glares at her enthusiastic nodding.

Not an ounce of shame to be found.
...oh god fucking damnit. Thunder Wing heard about the bond between dragon-riding elves and their dragons and got sappy didn't she? This isn't a radical experiment in just one way - it's also a damn romance.

Eh, it sounds like all of the blocks are really just Durin's Consternation. We just need to figure out which tree has windsight in it. It's probably mind but who knows. I wonder if the rune of brotherhood could transfer windsight from a Brana to a dwarf or if it would just knock them out lol.

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if when we do get windsight, Snorri takes a look and is like WTF this still makes no sense.
No, keep in mind that despite universally having windsight, Elves can't explain everything about magic.
Windsight it a useful tool but it is in no way a panacea.
Not sure how much of this has been discussed before, haven't read back. Thoughts though?
I don't even understand what you're talking about.

Glimril and Master Rune of Kingship, thats what we need, stat.
